Introduction

Welcome to my new blog. My name is Kris and I am going to be writing on a subject near and dear to my heart. I am going to be writing on faith. Specifically the Roman Catholic faith. Before you move on to the next search, stay with me a minute. Let me explain what this blog is, and what it is not.

What it is is an overview of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Over the weeks and months, I’ll go topic by topic and try in my very limited way to explain what it is we believe and why. I will start with something that every Roman Catholic says in every church every Sunday. I will start with the Nicene Creed. The Nicene Creed is not only the Profession of Faith for the Roman Catholic Church, but also for almost every Christian tradition. It is, in short, the Profession of Faith for the body of Christ.

What this blog is not is an attempt to sway anyone from their current beliefs. I couldn’t do that if I tried. I am not nearly wise enough or eloquent enough. I’m just a normal wife and mom who works in retail and loves God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Where did the title for this blog come from? It comes from the Bible, from John 1:38. John the Baptist had just declared, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” Two of his disciples (Andrew and traditionally John) immediately left John the Baptist and began following Jesus. Jesus turns to them and asks, “What are you looking for?” Now Andrew and the unnamed disciple had no answer. I don’t think they knew what they were looking for. Just that they were looking for something.

Maybe you are like them. Maybe you know you are looking for something, but you don’t know what that something is. Maybe you’ve been a Catholic all of your life and want to explore your faith more, but don’t know where to begin. Maybe you are one of our beloved brothers or sisters in Christ in another Christian tradition and you are curious about what Catholics really believe. Whatever your reason, whatever you are looking for, you are invited to join me for a new post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It’s going to be fun.
