A/N: Too many Leopold stories? SPOILERS!
You sat by the desk stirring your cold cup of tea as you listen to your Royal Advisor talking about the duties for the day. You kept on looking at the clock every now and then waiting for the clock to strike noon, for you to get out of your big gown and to put on the commoner clothes carelessly tucked away in a flower pot by the door.
"Time has run out." You say getting up. "You got evening tea with the prince today." He says. "Yes. i recall." You say. As everyone left the room, you quickly change and escape from the foyer hiding behind every guard that passed by.
You arrive at the Duck and Quiver to find Spike. He tells you about Billy and assures you he will fix it, as he always do. That he was the skeleton in the group. You were hoping to find Leo but he was nowhere to be found. Perhaps something has happened to him, you thought. You wandered around alone hoping to bump into him but no luck.
Back at the palace Leo sat on his bed heartbroken that he had lost the only friends he has made. "I said it would end in tears. What did you except? That you could runaway and live on the streets for a while? Bring some random girl back and move her into the palace?" Louise says as she sat on the egde trying to talk to her brother. "Maybe I thought I could be normal. Stuck here dreaming of how it'd feel to have friends. How it would feel to be someone else." Leo says in a low tone. "Well, you can't be someone else. None of us can. Do yourself a kindness and accept it." His sister says hoping Leo would accept it and move on.
Daimler walks in making Louise leave his brother to be acquainted with his royal advisor. "Sir, the Queen has asked me to tell you that Y/n will be visiting the palace this afternoon. She's passing through the country on a European tour and her Majesty felt it would be a good idea for you to meet. Her Majesty heard the news that Y/n is in search of a suitor." Daimler says. Leo gets up grunting softly as he made his way towards Daimler. "And how did she learn that news?" He asks. "I don't know, Your Highness." Daimler responds. "Get out." Leo says unpleased. "Sir." With that Daimler leaves the room.
You wait by the police station waiting Spike to come back but as time ran by more than two minutes passing, you decide to head back and get ready to meet the Prince for tea.
The room was filled with cutlery clinking. Leo sat all bored as he played around with the dessert sat on the plate. Simply staring at it as you spoke. You had recognised him right away as he put up a bad disguise outside of the palace. You knew he doesn't recognise you so you tried to play along. "Horrible business with this rioting in the city. We saw some appalling sights on the way here." You say taking a sip of your tea before continuing to speak again. "So, the journey here was rather eventful. Rather unusual detective cases too." You say. "Indeed." Leo says unimpressed. "Marie said you'd probably be boring." You say adjusting your gown. "I'm not boring." He says rather unamused and confused. "Really? Because you seem really boring. We don't know each other. I can't start with tales of drunken debauchery, can I?" You say. Leo puts his cutlery down slowly nodding his head sideways and avoiding your gaze. "Your story is fine." He says softly. "You are already in love, aren't you? I can tell by the look in your eye. So am I. He's a lad I met on the streets in one of my rendezvous. You are shocked I'd fall for a commoner, aren't you?" You ask as casually as you could. Leo stared at you with surprise and utter shock. "Perhaps. And you are just going along with this?" He questions. "It's what's best for my country. That's what duty is." You respond. "One only feels duty to the things one cares about and I don't care about anything." Leo says sitting comfortably in his chair.
"So, if we do marry, you so realise they'll want children. Well please try and get some practice in before we marry." You say trying to tease him. "I- I've done it before." Leo says hesitantly to speak about the topic. "Good." You say with a little smirk which he doesn't notice. "Don't presume we're going to marry." He says chuckling softly. "Enjoy the rest of your evening. Excuse me." Leo says getting up to leave. You had to think quickly to make him stay.
"That's not quiet what you told me on that night, Leo." You say changing your accent and making him stop on his steps. He turns around to look at you closely. He softly whispers your made up name and chuckle in return. "You are a royal?" He asks walking back to you speaking softly. "You have a terrible disguise, Prince Leopold." You joke. He wanted to hug you, kiss you and embrace yourself with his but he had to stop himself from doing any with the people in the room.
"Practice, Leopold! I mean it!" You say loudly joking at him as he excuses himself again. He turns around walking back again. "You said I was good." He says softly tilting his head. "Were you? I guess we have to try it again sometime." You say with a smirk. He kisses the top of your hand and leaves you to enjoy your evening as he would return back again. He chuckles incredulously at your statement.
He returns back after a while. "May I?" He asks passing his hand for you to take. "Gladly." He says as you both made your way to his room. He opens the door but confusedly looks at the guard by his door and into his room with you following behind him. "Spike, what are you doing here?" He asks walking towards his sister and Spike. "You didn't really tell us anything about yourself, though, did ya?" Spike says leaning back in his chair. Leo looks at you before he asks his sister to leave. Spike kept on looking at you. "She stays." Leo says.
"The city is getting destroyed." Spike says beginning to talk. Some unpleasant talks started to arise. "Perhaps you should leave before I have you removed." Leo says but you shake your head at him. "Before I go, I just wanna hear you say it. Tell me you are not my mate." Spike says walking back again. "Don't be stupid. You are not my friend." Leo says taking you by surprise with his answer. You had tears dwelling up already. "And Y/s/n [your street name] means nothing to you." Spike says. "You know I can't say that-" Leo says in tears. "What's your problem then?" Spike asks with anger. "My problem is that I lost the only friends I ever had but-" Leo begins to speak but wasn't sure if you wanted them to know who you really were too. "But what?" Spike asks. "My problem is that I- I don't belong anywhere. Not hear, not there, nowhere. That's because no matter where I go, I'm always me." Leo says holding back his tears. "I loved you for who you are, Leo." You suddenly say making Spike turn to you. "Y/s/n? Wait.. are you all royals?" He asks surprised. "I found it today." Leo says.
"I'm too broken to belong." Leo says inhaling sharply. "That's why you belong to us." Spike says sadly that pit a small smile on Leo's face. "We should go save the city." Spike says. "You- you love me?" Leo asks once Spike was out the door. "I really do." You respons as the lips connected. "Okay so we- woah stop that." Spike says barging in again making you both stand awkwardly.
