Chapter 21: Walking Adventure

Start from the beginning

"She would be able to make the most boring, mundane things seem fun." Blaise chimed in. I didn't look at him directly because I knew that he was most likely talking about me. I felt my cheeks grow a little warm. "But she knows how to be serious and to take charge when she needs to."

Aries scoffed. "Sure, I guess a mature, serious girl is fine sometimes. But, I think it would be better if she was kinda like me. Someone that understands me but is still willing to push me. Having a nagging girl isn't so bad I don't think. It just means she cares."

I laughed. "You learned a lot in the past few weeks, Aries." I patted his long hair. He shooed my hand away and crossed his arms.

"Call me crazy but I think I want a girl that's almost a little irresponsible. She knows what she's doing but she's just doing it because she feels like it." Cinder explained. "A girl that goes with the flow when she needs to. But in a tight spot or when she needs help I would be the one to help her, even if she's too stubborn to ask for help."

I was happy and pleased to hear everyone's answer, but a part of me stung and ached. Princess Ava didn't exactly fit anyone's description of their perfect girl. One of these boys were going to be really unlucky.

"Rion."

I snapped my head up to who called my name. "Yeah, Snowen?"

"That's just my answer. Rion." he said casually. "Rion is my girl worth fighting for."

No one stopped walking but the pace certainly slowed down. I felt my face burning up. The bastard just had an indifferent expression on his face. I wanted to punch him so bad that my arm ached.

"Wait, Snowen. You love Rion?" Cinder questioned.

"Isn't that what I just insinuated?"

I shook my head in dismissal as some of the boys looked at me. "It doesn't matter. I don't have time for something like love right now."

"Alright. Then when you do have the time what kind of man do you want to sweep you off your feet?" One of the soldiers asked me.

I gulped as it seemed like everyone was watching me. "I-I don't know. Maybe someone reliable? Someone always willing to pick me up when I fall down but also to their people. I rather eat my own armor than tell someone I was wrong but they would understand and help me. Someone nice and loyal to everyone around them. Someone who tries to put others first before their own well being."

All the men watched in awe at my confession. "S-Something like that? W-Who cares."

The subject dropped after that. The mood was awkward and stifling. Everything was fine until Snowen opened up his stupid mouth. I couldn't take the atmosphere and ran up to the men in the front to socialize. They didn't hear or participate in the conversation.

We walked for most of the day until we stopped to refuel and switch out. I sat in Mun-Wah's caravan. We decided to talk about battle plans that he and Blaise came up with and he saved me from the awkwardness of going back to the princes.

"So if the enemy is coming from here, then we can approach from this angle and this angle to avoid casualties. While that happens we'll have arrow men take them out from the direct front, hitting the enemies in the middle." Mun-Wah pointed out on a small map.

"That makes sense. If the middle area is cleared out while the enemies struggle from the sides then by the time we get to this area here most of them will already be cleared out. From their we can storm the leader and win." I analyzed.

"Perfect. It's settled then. The first group will start their trek on the eastern path tomorrow so when we meet it'll be at the same time. The Huns won't know what hit them."
