The journey I made felt like only a moment
During the years of the uphill climb.
I struggled through the trees, forded rivers, fought the wind
To only arrive at a clifftop, instead of the top of the mountain.
Disappointment looked out over the world
And saw that it had not been conquered.
Instead, it had only been shuttered and blinded,
By feelings to strong to ignore, but maybe wrongly judged.
To think that climb led me to the mountaintops,
Was such a bitter disappointment when I emerged out onto the cliffs.
I was blinded by the journey, and the details of it all are grey.
But, somehow, looking out over the clifftop,
I am inspired to climb all the higher.
