Solace

I get lost in your eyes, those swirls of grey

And I forget everything I had planned to say.

Swept up, with the light of your smile,

I forget what we fought about, at least for awhile

And then, with the merest touch of your hand,

I wish to sink with you into timeless grains of sand.

A soft, crown of fire embraces one such as you,

Flickering out to light what the darkness pursues.

I feel that heat, yet it will never burn,

For I am the ice for which you yearn.

Solace is found when destiny meets its mate,

This feeling, this depth will never dissipate.

I love you, my summertime sky,

And I will never say goodbye.
