Odell POV

"What you thinking about?" I asked Rayne as we were on our way to the hospital.

"Her and the possibility of this being her last day on this earth." She replied looking out of the window.

"We got to keep a positive attitude about this."

"How can I stay positive about anything right now?" She started to get frustrated so I pulled over to the side of the road.

"Why are you stopping?" She turned to me and I grabbed her hand.

"Look, it's not your fault what happened between you and your mom. I know you wished that you and her could get along and you tried to do that but it didn't work out. Maybe now when she recovers it will put things in perspective and y'all relationship will get stronger. So stop blaming yourself if something happens."

"As much as I can't stand her I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Who would do something like that?"

"An evil person. Now let's get to the hospital and check on your mom." She nodded her head and I pulled off.

There was a comfortable silence in the car. I kept my hand intertwined with hers until we made it to our destination. As we made our way inside of the waiting room there was a shouting match between Brian and a detective.

"Don't you see us trying to cope with what happened to my sister? The hell you asking questions for like we had something to do with it?" Anya tried to pull him away but he didn't budge.

"Sir I you need to calm down, I'm just doing my job."

"Then find the motherfucker who did this to her that's the job you need to do."

"Brian come on and sit down. Let the man do what he has to do." Janice told him as Anya pleaded and leading him away from the detective.

Rayne and I walked in their direction, she saw Joseph sitting in a far corner alone and decided to join him. I spoke to everyone there and took a seat next to Janice, I looked over to Rayne and Joseph to see them hugging each other and smiled to myself.

Rayne POV

"I'm sorry dad."

"I'm sorry too." He replied.

"It was wrong of me to behave like that and to treat you the way I did."

"That was expected and you had every right to be upset, I don't blame you."

"Why did you wait so long to tell me?" I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"I planned on telling you one day, I just wished you didn't find out about it the way you did."

"Do you still love me?"

"What kind of question is that? Of course I do, I will always love you. Nothing will change that, it doesn't matter if my blood don't run through your veins you are and always will be my daughter." He kissed my forehead.

"There's also some other things we need to discuss." He told me.

"Family of Deanna Richards?" The doctor called out as he came into the waiting room and we all went to him.
