Lyra hadn't bothered to learn much about the brothers before she contacting their agency. She had their first and last name and figured it would be enough. Lyra did make assumptions from the way she was initially greeted compared to when she asked for information on where to send the brothers' stuff, for one women must have tried to get to them through the agency before. She explained who she was several times to several different people and received suspicious questions from all she came in contact with.
She concluded they are both popular and messy with females. By the time she decided to settle for the agency shipping address, she was tired and irritated it took so much of her time and effort.
When she turned down the dinner invitation, she briefly wondered what was their motive. Everything told her it was the right decision to refuse, but she was curious why they would ask considering they clashed at every turn.

After checking into their hotel rooms, Ashlie and Lyra met at the pool where after some prompting Lyra told her about the 'pleasant' experience with the Bourgeois brothers. "Larry really hung up on you?" Ashlie asked surprised. "Twice! What's worse, he did it because HE didn't understand me. All he had to say was he didn't understand, I could have told him in French." "Then his brother called you after you blocked all Larry's numbers so they can ask you out? And you put them on hold?" Ashlie asked in disbelief. "I didn't put anyone on hold, I'm just not interested in being part anyone's global harem." Lyra leaned back and pulled her oversized sun hat over her eyes. "Who has a global harem?" Chris, Lyra's ex, asked.
