She had been more than happy when she had heard Thorin call out that they were to rest for the night. Being on horseback was a new experience.......well, in truth, everything since Gandalf had taken her from the temple, had been a new experience; her eyes wide, the smile never leaving her lips, as she did her best to take in everything that she had passed since leaving the Shire. And as they had ridden behind the Company, Bilbo had been telling her all about his home and the things that she hadn't got to see before she had followed after Gandalf and the dwarves. Yet despite everything that he had done to take her mind off the pain that they were both feeling because they were new to the saddle, it couldn't stop her from letting out a relieved groan when she lowered her feet to the floor.

"(Y/n)." A voice called out. A small smile coming to her lips, as Gandalf made his way over to her.

"We should speak." The wizard continued. The seer nodding, before allowing him to lead her away from the flurry of activity that had ensued at the orders of the king to make camp.

She was still feeling uncomfortable around the dwarves, not one of them had come to speak to her. The odd one looking at her strangely as they fell back for a moment, before geeing on their mount to once more join the others; but other than that......... On a normal day, she would have people coming to see her all the time, coming to talk to her in hopes that she could give them the information that they required. But today, today she had only heard the voice of the hobbit; and as much as she liked his voice, it was odd to be ignored by everyone else that they were surrounded by. (Y/n) sure that the fact that Thorin had compared her to an evil witch, or the orcs that he had mentioned, had not helped in the slightest.

"Have you seen anything more.........?" Gandalf finally enquired, when he judged that they were far enough away from the Company not to be heard.

"No. But I did not expect to. Perhaps during the evening, I might get something. I think that it would help if Thorin or one of the others would allow me to take their hands; but given their continued silence, and their looks, I do not feel that they would agree. I am sure that given their leaders words, they fear that I am a curse more than anything. That I will strike them down if I so much as look at them." (Y/n) sighed, as she looked over to where a fire had been started. The seer wondering whether they would allow her a place next to it, or whether they would leave her to the cool night air.

Gandalf couldn't help but feel for her; couldn't help but feel a little guilty for dragging her into this. But despite how things seemed to be at the moment, he knew that they would get better; that sooner or later, the dwarves, Thorin, would see that it was much better to have her with them, than not. And (Y/n) would see that it was much better for her to be away from the temple in which she had been kept for the greater part of her life, than it would have been for her to remain.

"Do not worry about the dwarves, my dear. Why don't we go and join Bilbo, I am sure that he has found you both a place near the fire." Gandalf replied, as he laid a reassuring hand on her shoulder. Chuckling to himself as (Y/n) blushed again at the mention of the hobbit.

Despite how it may have appeared, Gandalf had been watching (Y/n) and Bilbo, all day; and in spite of the obvious differences between the pair, as far as he could see, the two were perfectly suited. (Y/n) was an innocent in the world, even more so than Bilbo was; but it was obvious that the hobbit had already taken on the role of being her protector, even though he didn't know the first thing about protecting himself, never mind the young woman. Yet the wizard was sure that together the odd pair would look after one another. That they would bring out nothing but the best in the other; and their true abilities, their true strengths would appear.

                                                        >>----------------------------------<<

(Y/n) couldn't help but blush once more, as she and Gandalf had made their way back to the camp and she realised that Bilbo had placed her bedroll next to his on the ground. The hobbit giving her a smile, as she had come to join him. The wizard nodding at him in thanks, as the seer took a seat next to the little man.

There was something comfortable about being next to the hobbit. He was such a sweet thing, and funny too; (Y/n) sure that she had never laughed so much in her life, as the Company wound their way along the old path, thanks to his stories of the Shire and his life. And despite his slight stature, he had this amazing way of making her feel safe; more so than any of the heavily armed dwarves that were with them. The seer promising herself that even if the whole journey was spent with her only having Bilbo for any real company, she would still remain with the dwarves, for as long as he did.

"Here." (Y/n) looking up to see Bilbo holding out a bowl out for her to take.

"It's Bombur's stew. I don't know what's in it; but it smells quite nice." The hobbit continued, smiling as she reached out to take it. His cheery visage quickly vanishing though as he felt (Y/n)'s fingers touch his; her eyes taking on the same strange look as they had the night before when she had held his hand.
