Chapter 53- Heartbroken

''Kidhar ho tum?'' Aryaman asked Manik. ''Siya ke ghar'' I heard Manik saying but I could clearly hear Siya speaking in the background. ''Come home, I need to talk to you'' Aryaman said and cut the call. ''Tum bhi aao mere saath, I will talk to Manik and you be there'' he said. I don't want to listen to Aryaman but this is the only way to prove him wrong. ''Ok, I'll come but agar tum galat nikla tho?'' I asked him. ''I will accept whatever you say'' he promised me. I cannot think of anything but Manik while I'm on the way and Aryaman stopped the car. ''Why did you stop?'' I asked. ''Hum Manik ke ghar pahunch gaye'' he said. I never knew where Manik stayed. ''Shayad tumko kabhi address bhi nahi bola hoga na'' he said. I nodded yes. ''That is because Manik never shares something too special for him'' he said. Is Aryaman right? Manik ne kabhi apne ghar ya ghar walon ke baare mein kuch bataya nahi, jo bhi suna maine Manik ke baare mein wo tho sab Aryaman ne hi bataya mujhe.

He took me inside and my eyes immediately fell on a wall where the photographs are placed. There were many photos of Manik and his family. Their family picture, Dhruv and Siya, Manik with Mukti and his brother-in-law. ''Manik will be here soon'' he said. I'm dying to see Manik now. I was alone in a room and my thoughts are uncontrollable now. As Aryaman said, Manik kabhi bhi kisi ko kuch nahi batata hai. No one knows about us too. Whenever Manik meets me, it's always at my home. Everyone thinks that Manik doesn't like me but kisi ko reality pata nahi hai. We are always alone when we are together. Uska ghar kya farm house pe bhi mujhe allow nahi kiya usne. He even insisted me not to tell anything to Aryaman last night too. Ye sab dekh ke lagta hai Aryaman is right. No, he can't be right, main bhi paagal ki tarah Aryaman ki baaton mein kyu aa rahi hu. Let Manik come here and answer. I heard Manik's car horn. ''I think Manik is here, come we will talk to him'' Aryaman called me out. ''Aryaman, I don't want Manik to know I'm here, mujhe uss pe koi doubt nahi hai. Whatever you wanted to ask, you can ask. I'll listen to you'' I said. ''Fine then, stay here'' he said and closed the door. 

''Kya hua? Do you want tosay something?''  I heard Manik talking to Aryaman. ''Morning tum kuch explainkarne wale ho na, tell me now'' Aryaman said. I think Aryaman Manik se kuch kahe bina mujhse milne aa gaya hoga. ''Kya sun na chahte ho? Youweren't ready to listen anything from last night'' Manik sounded irritated at Aryaman's behavior. ''Do you think Siya isbetter than Nandini, tabhi tumne ye award ke liye Nandini ki jagah Siya kopropose kiya'' I can't believe if Manik had really proposed Siya instead of me. If it is true, why did he do that? ''So is it still aboutNandini? Aryaman, I have promised you to be nice to Nandini, am I not doingthat?'' Manik said. Is it just because of Aryaman, he is being nice to me. I can't believe Manik is doing all this. I don't want to believe all this but ye sab koi aur nahi Manik khud bol raha hai.

''Being nice Manik, really!Ye sab karke tum kya prove karna chahte ho?'' Aryaman asked. Aryaman's voice has raised as he spoke. ''Aryaman chill, Nandini nekhud mujhse bahut baar kaha ki wo iss career mein zyada interested nahi hai, onthe other hand is Siya who is so passionate about her work, Siya was waitingfor this and Nandini ko isse koi farq nahi padega''. How can Manik think this way? I know maine hi ye bola tha par iska ye matlab nahi ki mujhe wo award nahi chahiye? Wo sirf ek award nahi mera recognition hai. I felt proud even Manik revealed that I got this award. But Manik ne Siya ke liye mujhe isse hataya! Manik can't be so unfair to me. ''But Manik, how can thisbe an excuse for you?'' Aryaman asked him. This means Aryaman is right and I'm wrong about Manik. Manik ne kabhi mere baare mein socha hi nahi hoga. I thought he might chose me over Siya if he loves me but he doesn't even want me to compete with her. This clearly shows that he will prefer Siya over me anyday. ''See, the bottom line is Iwant to see Siya happy that's it. Agar iss jagah Nandini nahi koi aur bhi hogatho bhi main yahi kar leta'' Manik had finally admitted and I got to listen what Aryaman wanted me to hear. 

I can no longer control my tears. Manik didn't just snatched this award from me, he broke my heart, broke my trust. Aisa lag raha hai ki he used played with my feelings. I can't take this anymore. ''Nandini ka kya?'' Aryaman asked him. ''I will apologize her, I will try to explain how important it is forSiya'' Manik said. So Manik really thinks he can still explain me after all this. Wahi tho karte aa raha hai itne dinon se and I'm a stupid jo iske baaton mein aa gayi. Manik was never there for me. He treats me like a stranger sometimes and he makes me feel special other times. But when I look back and memorize everything, his special treatment is confined only to both of us but for others, duniya ke liye tho hum kabhi friends bhi nahi the. It was always about Siya and never me. Like Aryaman said, he was never at fault and I was fool to trust him. But wo kiss? Uska kya jawab doge Manik Malhotra? Does that mean nothing to you? ''Tho karo explain'' Aryaman said. ''Nandini, don't you wantto come out at least now?'' Aryaman is calling me out now. What will Manik say now? Do I still have anything to talk to him? No.

''I don't need any explanations Aryaman, I think I found my answer'' I couldn't stand there for a minute after all that. I came out from there and sat in the car. Aryaman followed me out. ''Nandini, Manik ne jo kuch bhi kiya wo galat tha, I'm not on his side. But Siya ke liye jo kiya it shows how much he loves her. I just did all this to warn you not to love him. Manik tumse kabhi pyar nahi kar payega aur ye uska galti nahi hai'' Aryaman said. ''Mujhe iske baare mein kuch nahi kehna hai Aryaman, please I want to take some time for myself'' I said as I wanted to leave. ''Nandini, please Manik ko galat mat samjho, I will not let you down, I promise'' he said. 

''What should I fight for Aryaman? For that Award or for Manik?'' My words are left unspoken.
