Mae lay on the floor throughout the day, passed out and dreaming of nonsense. Ser Richard had come by with his two sons, at the end of the day. Sensing that something was wrong, he opened the door slightly to find the sight of Mae collapsed against the bed frame.

He quickly closed the door, and ordered his sons to head to their quarters. They protested as they wanted to see their mother, but they eventually left.
He rushed into the room, checking the Queen's pulse, sighing in relief that she was only in a deep sleep.

He removed his helm, placing it aside, and moved Mae from the floor to the bed. He placed a pillow at her head and covered her with a blanket. Richard also picked up the shards of glass that were sprawled on the floor, as well as the bottle of wine.

He always hated when Mae punished herself by locking herself her away. It always made him fear what she would do behind closed doors but what mattered was that she was okay in the end.

After getting his Queen comfortable, he went to go stand outside her door, guarding it like he always did. He stands there for quite some time, when he hears the quiet footsteps of someone getting closer.

It was the Princess, with her son in her arms. He relaxes at the sight of her and bows, "Princess Rhaenyra."

"Ser Richard," Rhaenyra nods at him, "Is she in there?"

"Yes, Her Grace is in there. I believe she is awake. I heard her get up minutes ago," Richard informs her, his eyes fall to the Prince, "Congratulations on the birth of your son. I am sure he will grow to be quite the knight."

"Thank you, Ser," Rhaenyra replied. For a long time, she did not like the noble knight. She was jealous of the relationship he had with the Queen. But she found it hard to hate him now, especially since he was a great father and deeply cared for his family.

"May I?" Rhaenyra asked as Richard opened the door wide for her. She quietly stepped in, the knight closing the door behind her. It took quite some time to find the Queen, but there she was on the terrace of her chambers.

She sat with a book in her hand, a cup of water in the other, and she was staring at something. It seemed that Mae did not hear the door open as she stayed, staring at the picture in her book. Rhaenyra walks over, and Mae finally turns to look at her. The girl quickly gets up from her chair, gesturing for her to sit.

"You do not have to do that, my love," Rhaenyra tells her, but Mae insists.

"Yes, I must. You should be in bed. You just gave birth to your little Prince," Mae scolds her.

"But I would rather be here with you," Rhaenyra argues, and that makes the Queen's cheeks turn a bright red, "Besides I wanted to talk."

Mae grabs another chair, placing it in front of the Princess, and sighs.

"I am sorry for the way I acted. It was not right of me to be upset," Mae immediately says, and Rhaenyra shakes her head.

"Do not be silly," Rhaenyra tells her, "You have nothing to be sorry for. And I am going to be honest with you."

Mae nods, cracking her fingers, waiting for the Princess to speak again. She coos at Joffrey, "When you had your children, I was jealous of Ser Richard."

Her confession makes her brows raise, "You were?"
She grabs Rhaenyra's free hand, and squeezes it.

"Yes, I was," Rhaenyra admits, her face twisting with shame and guilt, "To be quite frank, I think I still am. But I found it hard to be when I realized what a good man he was to you. Especially when he told me that he was inspired by me to name your son."
