Maekora made her way back to her chambers, walking mindlessly through the halls decorated with the Targaryen sigil banners.

She arrived at her room and closed the door behind her.

She collapsed onto her bed as she relived the night. A smile crossed her lips as the memories replayed over and over again.

The Princess truly made her happy.

The moment was interrupted by a voice coming from the chair in the corner of the dimly lit room.

"Enjoy yourself, sister?"

"Holy shit!" Maekora screamed out into the darkness as her sister, Maelora came into view.

"What the hell are you doing in here? Do you not have your own room?" she asked her sister as she tried to catch her breath.

"What the hell were YOU doing?" Maelora questioned her back as she made herself comfortable on the bed next to her.

"I was out with Maxis. Just for a little ride." Maekora replied as she stood up to light another candle.

"Oh. Did you have good one?"

"Yes, of course. This ride was truly exhilarating." Maekora sighed as she placed the candle down on the dresser and made her way to stand in front of her sister.

"Does it have anything to do with the fact that you were with a certain princess?"

Knowing her sister already knew the answer, she nodded and sat next to Maelora.

"Wow. You work really fast, don't you." Maelora barked with laughter as Maekora gave her a frown.

Maekora sniffed at the air picking up on a sweet smell. She sniffed her sister's tunic and immediately knew where she had been.

"You were in the kitchens, weren't you?" she asked as Maelora pulled out a piece of bread from her pocket.

"Of course I was, Mae. I can't come to another country and not try their foods." She said as she took a bite of the bread and let out a moan of satisfaction.

"King is shitty, but I gotta admit: he does have good cooks."

Maekora rolled her eyes at her sisters comment, "Lora, we can't be stealing from these people. We are their guests. Imagine what will happen when they find out you are stealing food from the kitchens."

"Imagine what will happen when they find out about your little ride with the Princess." Lora retorts.

"Give me that," Maekora snatches the piece of bread, "And they won't DO anything. It was just a ride."

"Yeah right. And this was just a piece of bread. It's not like I kidnapped one of the cooks. Maybe we should if we want food like this at Ashbourne." She says as she pulls out another piece of bread.

"Stop it. We can't make a bad impression with these people." Maekora countered as she began to pace the room.

"Since when do you care about this stuff! Mae, you have visited plenty of kings and queens around our country before. You have never cared for impressions, yet they still respect you plenty. What is the difference now?" Lora said as she took another bite of the bread.

Maekora stopped in her tracks and turned to sister.

"The only difference is that these are the people that our father obsessed over for years and lost his mind over. These are the people whose existence quite literally poisoned him. Maybe this prophecy does revolve around them. I intend to fulfill it."

"No, I don't think this is about some damn prophecy," Lora said as she stood up from the bed, "This is about Rhaenyra. I saw the way she looked at you when we first arrived. You can't tell me anything else. Come on Maekora. Talk to me."

Maekora frowned at her sister's words. She was right. This was about Rhaenyra.

Maekora had come with intentions of meeting the other possible dragon family involved in the prophecy. Instead, she was now lovestruck by the beauty that was Rhaenrya Targaryen.

And it had only been a day.

"I am sorry, sister. You are right. I am interested in the Princess," Maekora confessed, "But I wasn't lying about the prophecy either."

Lora quirks a brow but Maekora continues to explain.

"This is our chance to see if these dragon lords really are a part of this prophecy. I feel as if I am failing Father for even thinking about giving up on this. As much as I don't want to believe. I think they are the ones. They have all of the other dragons in the world."

"And what happens if they are the dragon family we unite with? Do we just stay here and abandon our people?" Lora spit out as she began to feel frustrated.
The words spilling from Maekora's mouth sounding familiar and it scared her.

"Get a grip on yourself, little sister. You are losing yourself. Being away from home is not doing you any good. We can't stay here forever. I know you like the Princess but she is corrupting you. This is all apart of her father's plan."

"What the fuck does that mean?" Maekora asked as she was now growing angry.

"Don't you realize that the Princess is sweet talking you to distract you from what they actually want? Don't you see the King is desperate for your alliance." Lora said as she poked her sister's shoulder.

"Why would they need us, they have dragons." Maekora replied stupidly.

"Exactly! But they want more. They saw our dragons and saw the opportunity to be a greater power than us all. They take our dragons, remove our titles, take us away from our people. Then we fall under the control of them. They will conquer us."

Her sister's words began to make sense, especially after their meeting with the king. How they insulted their titles and did not believe they deserved them. Particularly, the man in green.

She felt disappointment, maybe this was all just a plan for power and the Princess was not interested in her.

After all, Maekora was only fourteen years of age. Same as the Princess. Maekora could not afford to fall victim to the delusions of her young mind.

She had to get over it. She had to be a Queen and she could not let a girl get in the way.

"You are right then, sister. We will forget about this prophecy. Before we head home, I will propose this though." Maekora said with a confidence that had not been there a moment ago.

Maelora listened carefully as her sister spoke again.

"We will stay here for another month. We will observe these people. Keep our enemies close," Maekora said as she stared out her window, "I just have a feeling that it isn't King Viserys that is the bad egg here."

"Oh?" Lora said as she stood next to her sister.

"Yeah. The whole situation feels off. There is more to this. I do believe we are being played but maybe not by Viserys." Maekora finished as she looked up at the moon.

"Well, we shall stay until it is figured out but we can't forget about our people." Lora said as she turned to see her sister.

"Let me handle that. After all it is my job." Maekora chuckled as she went to go sit at the chair her sister was sitting in earlier.

She sat down and pulled out the bread.

"Is it really that good that you had to steal a load of them?" asked Maekora as broke off a piece and shoved it in her mouth.

"It will change your life, sister!" Lora said as she watched Maekora's face change to a wide smile.

"Now I see why you have made it a hobby to steal from the kitchens." She says with her mouth full. A soft giggle escaping her as she continues to eat.

They burst into a fit of laughter as they talk until the sun came up again.

It was not a moment between a Queen and her sworn protector, but rather just two sisters who are a long way from home.
