My story Rosalind won first place in the Paranormal Romance Category in Punk Rock Awards 2023.

1 what inspired the idea of your story?

A prompt from the Open Novella Contest that blew me away! It was the first ONC I took part in – it was in 2018.

2 what is something you struggled constructing with your story?

Actually finishing it. I had my doubts halfway through and stopped writing the story for two years. A dear friend talked me into finishing it.

3 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?

Rosalind's transformation. She went from a well-to-do young lady to someone thinking she was losing her mind, to someone who found her dark side and embraced it.

4 what's the overall response of your story from your readers?

A lot of strong emotions were expressed by quite a few readers. I liked knowing what people thought – both the positive and negative bits. That means my story left its mark. In general, a lot of people loved it!

5 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series ?

Stand alone... for now. I'm hoping to write a sequel (maybe even a third book).

6 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?

I would like my readers to enjoy what they've read and feel that something we feel when we've read a story that's left an impression.

7 what advice would you provide to fellow writers, when it comes to focusing on their own story?

Listen to constructive feedback. Love your characters. Don't be afraid to express yourself the way you want to. Write with your heart then edit with your brain.

8 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?

She walks to the beat of her own drum like I do.

9 what is something about your story you believe would draw in new readers?

It's Beauty and the Beast if Poe, Tim Burton, and American McGee got together and created a monster.

10 do you have any future projects?

Yes! I always have some shiny new idea popping up. My newest project (super new as I've only written one chapter so far), is a story about vampires and werewolves. But I'm adding my own touch and creating a savage, harsh, yet sometimes even human, world of darkness. It's a story of back-stabbing family members, upholding the masquerade of being immortal, the Opera, and the fact that love really is one of the greatest forces on earth.
