1 what is something you struggled constructing with your story?

I really struggled with the plot of this book in the beginning. Initially it was supposed to be a fluffy, 50k word romance, but it evolved into something a lot darker.

2 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?

My favorite part of this book was writing South Tenney's POV. He is the first real alpha hero I've written and it was super fun.

3 what's the overall response of your story from your readers?

I think readers get to the end and are so shocked by what happens. That, and they seem to like South Tenney too :)

4 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series ?

This story is a spin-off of a novel I wrote called Sailing West. Riding South also has a sequel called Bound South, which is complete!

5 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?

I would love readers to feel empowered to be their true, authentic selves, regardless of anyone's opinion.

6 what advice would you provide to fellow writers, when it comes to focusing on their own story?

My best advice to to lean into tension. Don't make characters happy or perfect or have them make great decisions all the time. Let them do stupid things and have to work their way out of it.

7 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?

We have some similarities on the inside. I was a Camilla at one point in my life, acting the way people wanted me to act instead of embracing who I was.

Also, I was in the Navy, so South Tenney and I have that in common.

8 what is something about your story you believe would draw in new readers?

If you like tropes, this book might be for you! Evil father, billionaire, military, second chance, forced proximity, dangerous mystery men. It's all there.

9 do you have any future projects?

Yes! I'm starting a new contemporary romance in this same universe this July called Dance Around It that I'm really excited about. It's a romcom, so not as dark as this one.
