- So, said Astrea, turning to him, why the forest ?

In a few strides he found himself close to her, and replied mischievously.

- Do you really think I'm going to show you my... superpowers in full view of everyone ?

- You don't have superpowers.

He didn't give her time to say anything else, and grabbed her hand as he walked towards a sun hole that was emerging through the branches. As he had expected, she seemed troubled by his touch. This reaction pained him, and just before they reached the sun, he moved closer to her to whisper in her ear :

- Why are you embarrassed, darling ?

- You're... Invading my personal space.

With her cheeks blushing visibly and her reproachful look, Garrett couldn't help but giggle.

- Come on. I'll give you my second piece of evidence... He replied, pulling her towards the light.

- Second ? She quipped just before.

- The first one is when I moved you quickly from one end of your room to the other, remember ?

Astrea opened her mouth to speak but stopped short when she saw Garrett in the circle of light.

- But you...

- Shine ? Yes, I told you yesterday, have you forgotten already ?

- How is that possible ? She whispered.

She looked at him as if she didn't know him anymore, and the vampire didn't like that impression. He pulled her against him, to reassure her. Once in his arms, he felt her tense up and stroked her hair while breathing in her scent. As he did so, the young woman relaxed and let herself go.

- I'm a little lost... She whispered to him. All this... I don't know what to think anymore...

- So stop thinking and give yourself a little more time.

- But...

- Shhh.

He put a finger on her mouth. She shuddered.

- That's a lot to take in. How can you not feel lost ? But don't forget we're here.

- What about the fact that I'm weird ?

Now he was lost.

- Weird ?

- Well, yeah, since you bit me and I'm supposed to be transformed. Except I'm still human.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, Garrett couldn't help but smile.

- So you believe me ?

She sighed, rolling her eyes.

- I don't have a choice. But that doesn't mean I understand anything ! She added as her companion held her a little tighter to him, so much joy pierced her heart.

- If you knew how long I've been waiting for this moment... We'll find a solution, don't worry. But...

He pushed her back slightly to look into her eyes, before continuing.

- But, if you had a choice, would you turn into a vampire or not ?

She tilted her head to the side, a small tic that showed she didn't understand why he was asking her that question.

- What difference does it make ?

- We're immortal, honey. That's why you've never seen us wrinkle.

Her pretty face broke down. Moved, he stroked her cheek to comfort her.
