"Jisoo, hurry up and take Little Park inside. Your mother has gotten anxious just from waiting for you."

Jingshan led the way while urging them to go inside the house.

Jiao Shuzhen had actually heard them arriving at the entrance long ago, but she did not appear to greet them because she was secretly afraid of Jisoo.

Jisoo took long strides and entered the house. He increased the volume of his voice and yelled in an exaggerated manner, "What kind of tasty food has Lady Jiao prepared? I think I can smell chilies!"

Jiao Shuzhen heard her son was not about to blame her at all. Moreover, he even called her "Lady Jiao" in an affectionate manner. Her jittery heart had finally settled down.

She went to greet them enthusiastically and took the present from Chaeyoung. She murmured, "You didn't have to bring a present. You're already part of our family."

Chaeyoung's heart was filled with joy. Her future mother-in-law finally acknowledged her as part of the family...

Chaeyoung did not show what she was feeling though.

She had made a secret agreement with Jiao Shuzhen. The two women acted as though this was their first meeting as they exchanged greetings with each other for a while.

Jisoo was extremely delighted when he saw this. He had no idea about the thrilling meeting that had previously occurred between Jiao Shuzhen, Wei Hongmian, and Chaeyoung...

More than half of the dishes on the table were Si Chuan dishes. They suited Chaeyoung's taste very much.

Nevertheless, she was forced to restrain herself since this was the first time she paid them a visit as their daughter-in-law. Chaeyoung pretended that she was not a glutton. Her eyes scanned the dishes indifferently...

She would happily admit that it was difficult for her to keep up with this facade. A single glance was enough for her to tell that the food on the table was different from the things that were served in the restaurants outside. It was definitely cooked by an authentic Si Chuan chef.

Fortunately, Jiao Shuzhen gave her an opening when they all sat down. "Little Park, please try the food and tell us if it tastes authentic. Your uncle invited two Si Chuan chefs from the compound. They spent the entire morning cooking this."

Jisoo laughed. "Were they Uncle Qian's chefs?"

Jingshan nodded. "Our family doesn't eat spicy food, but Uncle Qian can't do without it. That's why his chef makes the best spicy food throughout the entire military compound. Try the spicy rabbit's head. The chef brought it from Old Qian's house because he stewed it in advance."

Chaeyoung could not help be touched. "Thank you, uncle and aunty..."

Although she had had enough to eat at home, there were still too many children in her house on top of the fact that they were terribly poor, so it was her two older brothers who got to enjoy dishes like spicy rabbit's head.

She was extremely obedient, so she was the daughter that was the easiest to be neglected among the three of them.

Unfortunately, her parents realized that she was the most valuable one when they were deciding on which daughter to sell...

Now she stood before such an illustrious family as the Kim Family. Kim Jingshan had actually looked highly upon her by filling their table with spicy dishes even though the lord of the house did not eat them.

She wanted to cry...

As a child, her parents had never really loved her. Giving her a mere lollipop was enough to make her cry from gratitude, much less a plate filled with spicy rabbit heads.

"Do you like the dishes?" Jisoo watched as she gobbled down the food happily. He was a tough man who was neither afraid of pain nor death, but he feared spicy food...

Chaeyoung could feel her lips swollen, but this meal was simply too addictive for her to stop.

She nodded her head like a chick pecking at grains. "It's delicious! Do you want to try some?"

Jisoo shook his head hurriedly. The cuisine in Capital City was salty but did not have any strong flavors. His heart was filled with joy when he saw that Chaeyoung was eating without holding herself back, but he still felt worried. "Is it too spicy? Can your stomach handle it?"

Chaeyoung wiped her mouth with a piece of tissue paper. "I'm used to eating spicy food. I have to eat more today. Otherwise, uncle and aunty's kindness will be wasted..."

Kim Jingshan was happy to hear that. "You're right, Little Park. Have some more. After that, you can take some stewed meat home with you."

Jiao Shuzhen could not accept Chaeyoung's family background in the beginning. Now she saw that this girl carried her heart on her sleeve and was not superficial at all. Although she could not be compared to the elegant and wealthy young ladies of the aristocratic families, her ordinary and down-to-earth personality made people feel at ease around her.

She sighed quietly. The woman whom she desired as her daughter-in-law sat at this very table last night, but someone else was sitting in that spot today. Nonetheless, Jiao Shuzhen had resigned herself to this turn of events.

After lunch, Jiao Shuzhen dragged Jisoo over to the sofa and sat him there. She mentioned out of nowhere, "Lisa has returned to the country for several days. He's going to marry the young lady of the Kim Family after some time, so you should go to Luo Hai."
