Chapter 47

Carla immediately jumped into my arms and hugged me tightly.
I was overwhelmed with the situation, but I tried not to let it show.
Why was she here and how did she find me?

,,Oh, my God, sweetie, are you okay? I'm so sorry about your mother, I heard what happened," she said.

,,Thank you, Carla, what are you doing here?" I asked.

,,What does it look like? I'm here because of you, we haven't done anything together for so long" she said and smiled.

,,Nice place by the way, sorry about you and Mason, but luckily you have me" she said with a big smile.

,,Well actually Carla I'm back with Mason and this is our apartment, we moved in together" I explained and I saw her smile disappear.

Suddenly she looked angry.

,,Interesting to know, so now you live together and are a couple again" she mumbled softly.

Why was she suddenly so funny?
She quickly regained her composure and smiled again.

,,Anyway, nothing can stop me from spending time with you," she said.

,,Carla, actually Ruby and I had plans," I said, pointing at Ruby.

She turned pale in the face when she saw Ruby.

,,You and Ruby? But you hate each other" she said angrily.

,,Well, we have become closer," I explained.

,,So you have a new best friend?" she asked and her face turned red with anger.

,,What? No, we are just friends," I explained.

Ruby didn't say a single word during the whole situation.
Carla looked at Ruby with a withering look that scared even me.

,,Why can't I still do something with you?" she asked, smiling at me.

,,Well, some sick guy, so her ex boyfriend recently made a scene and we need some time alone" I said.

,,So you'd rather do something with Ruby than with me?" she asked.

She was really starting to scare me.
She was never like that.

,,Don't hold it against me, Carla, we can do something together next week," I said.

,,No, that's okay, I'll see you around" she said and was just about to walk out the door when Mason came in.

,,Hey Mason, good to see you" she said with a wicked smile.

Mason dropped his book from his hand and froze.

,,w-what are you doing here?" he asked, stuttering.

,,I was just leaving, by the way, Mason, I'm happy for you that you're back together.
I thought you would have changed your mind after our last conversation," she said with a grin.

Mason's face turned pale and he stood there frozen.

Okay damn, what's going on here?
What did she mean by last conversation?
Carla walked out the door and we all just stared at her, dumbfounded and shocked.
She turned around for a moment and then looked at Ruby.

,,Oh, Ruby?" asked Carla.

,,Yes?" said Ruby nervously.

,,Take care, you never know what kind of sick people are out there," she said, and I'm beginning to think she didn't mean Erik.

Carla walked out the door grinning and got into her car.
I closed the door and we all exhaled.

,,What a sick psycho," Ruby said.

,,Yeah, there's something wrong with her," Mason said and went back into the bedroom.

,,Stop it, she's probably just mad because I didn't have time for her" I said.

Why is Carla acting like this now?
Is it because I built my own life and now I finally have friends?
It was always just Carla and me, but what's so bad about having other friends?
