Chapter 46

"And?", Wanda asked when Freya entered the kitchen again. She looked up from where she sat at the dining table, but when she saw Freya's face, she added: "Apparently not."

Freya sat down opposite her. "I'm not allowed to leave this building."

Wanda sighed and laid her face in her hands. "What are you going to do now?", she asked, her words muffled through her hands.

Freya stayed silent and Wanda looked up again, her eyebrows raised. "You aren't gonna do anything?", she asked.

"What am I supposed to do? Burn my way out of here and leave only ashes behind? I-" She stopped herself and looked down. "Maybe they're right."

"Right?!" Wanda scoffed. "They keep us locked up here like we are animals, just because we saved people!"

Freya sighed. "It's just until the Accords are signed. Then we're free to go."

"Aren't you the one that was so strictly against the Accords? They are exactly the thing that does not allow us to be free."

"I know. Or, I don't, I don't know what to think." Freya rubbed an ache at her neck and her thumb stroked the top of a scar. "I just don't know what to do. Right now I just wait."

"I think that's the only thing to do now", Wanda said silently. She stood up. "I will-"

The sound of a distant explosion interrupted her and Freya looked outside. In the distance, she saw blazing fire lightening up the night. A second later, Vision was next to the two sisters.

"Stay here, please", he said and with that, he flew through the wall and toward the forest.

A second later, she heard footsteps behind her and she turned around, fire in her hands. Wanda also heard it and raised a knife with her powers, letting it fly towards the person.

But it was just Clint, who casually shoved the knife out of his way. "Guess I should have knocked."

Freya lowered her hands with a sigh and Wanda did too, walking towards Clint. "Oh my God. What are you doing here?"

"Disappointing my kids", Clint answered and walked past Wanda and Freya. He pulled his bow from his back and shot one arrow in the column left to him, another one in the column on his right. "I'm supposed to be waterskiing", he said.

"What are you doing?", Freya asked.

"Cap needs our help. Come on." He grabbed Wanda and Freya by the wrists and tried to pull them along with him, but Freya wrestled herself free.

"I can walk for myself", she said and held up her hands.

"Fine. Come on now."

They walked towards the door, but they didn't come far.

"Clint!" They turned around and saw Vision floating towards them. "You should not be here", he continued.

"Really?" Clint let go of Wanda's hand. "I retire for, what, like five minutes, and it all goes to shit."

"Please consider the consequences of your actions", Vision said.

Clint looked left and right. "Okay, they're considered."

Electricity shot from the arrows in the walls, stunning Vision where he stood. His body tensed against the streaks of electricity surging through his body and Clint turned around to the two sisters again. "Okay, we gotta go."

With another look back at Vision, Freya turned around and followed Clint, but after a few steps, she realised that Wanda didn't. She turned around to her sister, just like Clint, who said: "Come on, it's this way."
