Evelyn sat at the edge of the bed that Sousa was currently tied down onto. She was waiting for him to wake up and Jack was stood in the corner with his gun held tightly in his hands.

As much as he liked Sousa, if he managed to escape and hurt Evelyn, he wouldn't hesitate on pulling the trigger. He wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt Evelyn ever again. Not even if his life depended on it.

Jack had explained to the girl the events of what happened in the theatre and how Sousa managed to attack him and Peggy. The girl had quickly become concerned at the idea of either of them being hurt, but Jack reassured her that they were both fine.

Sousa began to violently cough and attempted to sit up, only to find out that he had been restrained. Evelyn placed a soothing hand on his bicep and noticed the way that Jack stood up straight.

"Good afternoon, Agent Sousa." Evelyn spoke calmly and decided to approach him as she would when talking to someone the SSR wanted to interrogate.

"Doc, what the hell is going on?" Sousa questioned panicked, he looked around the room and quickly became alarmed once he noticed Jack's gun.

Evelyn turned to face Jack and nodded for him to put away the gun, which he did, despite not feeling completely happy with the idea of putting it away. He didn't want to scare Sousa, but if he reacted the way that he did in the theatre, he may need to put a bullet in him.

"I'm going to ask you a few questions, agent." Sousa nodded understandingly. "Do you remember anything that happened in the movie theatre?"

"There was some kind of gas." He shrugged, the details were hazy and he couldn't really remember doing anything.

"Good, that's good." Evelyn found it best to always praise her clients whenever they revealed a piece of information. "Now, if these restraints are taken off, do you feel like we could just have a conversation?"

Nervously, Sousa looked between Evelyn and Jack before nodding. He watched as Evelyn placed out her hand for the key, making Jack give it to her.

"Agent Thompson, if you would give us a moment alone." Evelyn hated sending Jack away. Especially after she liked been so close to him because of the sense of safety that he gave her.

Jack understood, what they were going to talk about was potentially private and confidential. He anxiously scratched the back of his neck before leaving the room.

Evelyn smiled towards Sousa before unlocking his restraints and allowing him to sit up properly. Sousa instantly went to rub his aching wrists and furrowed his brows as he was trying to remember the events.

"I wanted to kill him. I wanted to kill everybody." Sousa admitted. Evelyn slowly nodded, trying to wrap her head around what mysterious gas that Sousa may have been on about. "Oh God, I hit Peggy."

"I can assure you, Peggy is fine." Evelyn attempted to ease the man's nerves. "Are you? How are you feeling?" Sousa half heartedly chuckle, his eyes flickered up and down the girl before saying,

"Still want to kill agent Thompson, but no more than usual." Sousa joked.

Evelyn let go of a small giggle, Sousa was back to his usual self and he would be okay to go back out on missions or to allow others to see him enough out having to be restrained.

"You two are good together you know?" Sousa commented, his tongue running over his bottom lip as he made eye contact with the girl.

"I sure hope so." Evelyn whispered as she looked down at her hands that rested in her lap. "But, I'll send Peggy in now, I'm sure you'll want to talk to her." The girl wasted no time in making a swift exit, hoping that Sousa hadn't seen the blush forming on her cheeks.

Jack rushed over to the girl the second that the left medical. His hands gripped her bicep as his eyes scanned her up and down, checking that she was okay.

"He'll see you now, Peg." Evelyn spoke as she looked across to Peggy, who was stood behind Jack. Peggy smiled thankfully before walking into medical to go and talk to Sousa. "I'm fine." She insisted once she noticed Jack's worried facial expression.

Jack let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding, he leant down and pressed his lips against the girls head and closed his eyes.

Evelyn couldn't help but smile at the action. She placed her hands on his chest and just enjoyed the way that he held her so tightly.

"Will you come over tonight?" Evelyn whispered, she assumed that by the time she returned, Howard would already be gone.

The man couldn't help but smile at the question, he pulled away and took a small step back, his signature smirk playing on his face as he then laced their fingers together.

"I'd love to." He spoke, his tone was much softer than usual, it made Evelyn's heart skip a beat. "We can get some dinner on the way home and watch some TV."

"I'd like nothing more, Lieutenant." Evelyn said, the corner of her lips curling upwards as she gripped his blazer to pull him down and connect their lips.

She loved the giddy feeling that she got every time she felt his lips against hers. It made her feel like she could do anything. Like she was invincible.

Jack ran his tongue over her bottom lip, causing her to smile into the kiss. His hand gripped her waist and pulled her closer to him as he gently pushed her against the wall.

Evelyn let out a small giggle as she pulled away and looked up at the man through her lashes, both their smiles were contagious. Despite everything that had happened today, they still found happiness and safety within one another.
