Evelyn sat on the edge of Jack's desk, which he wasn't too happy about as he was trying to work, but still he remained silent. She was jotting something down in her note book, which made him incredibly anxious, especially since she kept looking down at him.

Jack couldn't help but allow his eyes to flicker up and down her. Her skirt rose ever so slightly as she crossed her legs. He cleared his throat and averted his eyes, trying his hardest to remain concentrated on his work.

The action was something that didn't go unnoticed by Evelyn, but she remained silent and didn't even bother to question him about it.

The brunette girl smiled towards Peggy as she walked in with a grin, the girl walked so confidently and it was something that Evelyn admired. The pair were the only two girls who worked for SSR, which to say it was complicated would have been an understatement. Both of them got the job after the war due to their time within Project Rebirth.

"I'm loving the hat, Peggy." Evelyn complimented with a warm smile, causing Peggy to stop in her tracks and turn to face the girl.

Everyone in SSR had a soft spot for their therapist, mainly Peggy because both of them shared a connection with Steve. Evelyn grew up alongside Steve, she remembered days of their childhood where Bucky would tease them for being so small.

"Thank you, how's your morning been with these clowns?" Peggy questioned, which earned a disapproving look from Jack.

Evelyn just shrugged, she'd only been in work an hour or two, nothing overly major or tiring. She hadn't spoken to anyone privately yet, but she did come out of her office to observe everyone at work.

It was something that she did on the regular, but whenever she did, she was much quieter than usual. Jack noticed that whenever she came out of her office she was much more jumpy, so he would always find a way to make sure that she was okay, whether that be by flashing her a reassuring smile or placing his hand on her shoulder.

"Quiet, but I have a feeling something going to be happening soon." Evelyn whispered as she looked up at the clock on the wall.

She had another hour and half until it was Jack's usual time to visit her. Yesterday, he was sent to see her because of Krzeminski, she wondered what it would be today.

"Time will tell." Peggy nodded as she made her to her desk.

Evelyn jumped once she heard the loud blaring alarm. No matter how many times she heard it, it always managed to make her jump. Jack stood up and placed his hand on her shoulder smiling softly at her. He nodded to say that it was okay and that the alarm was just to gain their attention so that they would all start heading to the briefing room.

All the agents had rushed to the briefing room the second that the alarm started blaring, leaving her alone. She didn't mind it too much, it was just like her office, quiet until someone shouted her or walked in.

"Agent Carter, we just caught a redball out of D.C. All hands on deck." Chief Dooley said as he exited his office. Peggy nodded, grabbing her folder as she was ready to follow The Cheif, only for him to stop and say, "Meaning, cover the phones."

Peggy rolled her eyes before grabbing the phone, she flashed a small smile at Evelyn, who remained seated on the edge of Jack's desk. Her hands tapped against the wooden desk, making a small tune.

"Rose, forward all calls to the briefing room." Peggy instructed before ending the call. "Covered. Shall we?"

Evelyn chuckled as turned back to her notepad to write a few things down as Chief Dooley and Peggy made their way to the briefing room. The girl busied herself with organising the stationary on Jack's desk whilst they were in a meeting.

Jack looked around the room for the familiar brunette and furrowed his brows once he realised that she stayed outside. He chuckled to himself before swinging open the briefing room door and catching her organising his desk for him.

He had complained to her one too many times about people taking things from his neat desk and messing it up. He assumed that's why she was now spending her time organising it as she took one of his pens earlier.

"Evie." He shouted, making her jump, her hands instantly flew up as an innocent smile made it's way to her face.

She knew that she had been caught and there was no denying that. Evelyn assumed that he wanted a cup of coffee or something so she just headed to the table with the coffee pot sat and got ready to pour him a cup.

"Come on, your going to miss the meeting, Doctor." Jack motioned for her to come into the briefing room. Evelyn pointed to herself in confusion, her eyes softening slightly at the fact that she was wanted in the room that was usually just for agents. "Yes, you, come on."

Jack couldn't help but smile at the girls innocence. When she wasn't in her office, she seemed to be in awe at everything around her as well as naïve, but when she was in her office she was incredibly cocky and confident.

His hand found the small of her back as he guided her to the seat that Krzeminski would normally sit in. He thought it was about time to get some pay back for yesterday. The man motioned for Evelyn to take a seat with a smile before he walked across the table to take his usual seat.

"That's my seat." Krzeminski muttered frustratedly as he looked down at the girl. Evelyn almost instantly went to stand up, but Jack cleared his throat and shook his head. He glare towards Krzeminski, silently telling him to just take the seat next to her.

His eyes flickered back over to Evelyn to make sure that she was okay, she offered him a thankful smile before turning her attention back to the projection as an interview of Howard Stark played.

Evelyn didn't understand how something like this could happen. Howard was now being seen as a traitor as the video claimed that he had sold weapons to the enemies of the United States.

It wasn't like his sarcastic responses to the members of the United States Congress were helping him in any way, but Evelyn didn't understand if he did sell the weapons knowingly, why he would have done it.

Howard helped fight in World War Two, he was part of the Project Rebirth alongside Steve, Peggy and herself. He was an ally of Bucky before he died.

She couldn't picture him betraying their trust like that, something just didn't seem right but she didn't know what.
