Fred walked alongside FP into the cafeteria. He nudged his side and pointed out the girls already in the lunch line. They caught up to them in an instant.

"Hey," Fred smiled at Hermione and Alice. He picked up a tray and handed one to FP. "Ooo, they finally brought back pizza for lunch." He eyed the cheesy item.

"It's school lunch. Don't get too excited," Alice teased.

"No need to be mean to Freddie," FP chuckled. "He's just as hungry as I am."

"Your appetite is larger than his," Hermione said. "I highly doubt it."

The lunch line moved up. One by one they got served by the lunch ladies. FP's tray was almost overflowing. Fred's was no different. Alice wasn't fond of what the cafeteria served but regardless she got a decent serving. Hermione wasn't a big fan of what she got but she wasn't complaining.

They made way to their usual table. Fred flopped down in his seat, "We're only one summer away from high school. Forget about being eight graders. We're going to be cool high school kids soon."

"What do you know about being cool?" Alice continued to banter.

"I can be cool," Fred gaped. "Watch, I'm going to make the baseball team with my great batting skills. When I'm popular just you wait for an I told you so. I'm going to have Riverdale High wrapped around my finger. Right, FP? Back me up here."

"Yeah," FP slowly nodded.

Fred put his hand on FP's shoulder. "And this guy is going to be mad on the football field. You've seen the way he plays. Maybe he'll have an advantage since Oscar is a Bulldog. Who knows maybe he'll even single handily lead us to victory before we graduate. Oscar says Baxter High would be in the bag for sure."

"I want to be on the cheerleading team," Hermione squealed. "Maybe we can be Vixens together, Alice." She turned to look at her. "We could go to pep rallies and stuff."

"A River Vixen? I don't know about that. I was thinking maybe I would join the school newspaper. I've heard the Blue and Gold, at least that's what I think it's called, is a big deal for colleges. Who knows maybe it could boost my future career in journalism."

"A high school paper, really?" Fred bantered.

"Oh, shut up," Alice fondly rolled her eyes. She stole a fry off of his tray. "What do you think, FP?"

"Huh?" FP snapped out of his thoughts.

"About high school." She noticed how awfully quiet he was being.

"I-" FP didn't get the chance to answer.

"Fred," His younger brother came up to their table.

"Yeah?" Fred turned around to face him.

"Awe, Frankie, hey." Hermione pinched his rosy cheeks. Frank, flustered, dropped the book in his hand. She picked it up by her feet. "Baxter Brothers, pretty cool." She handed it back to him. "I'm more of a Tracy True girl but I love these books."

"Nancy Drew is the way to go," Alice chimed in.

"Did you need something?" Fred asked his brother. "Shouldn't you be in class? Sixth grade lunch was an hour ago."

"I have a hall pass," Frank pulled it out of the book to show him. "I needed to ask you something. Can you come to my class real quick to help me with my project?"

Fred looked at his friends as a form to excuse himself. They all nodded an okay. "Yeah, sure, hold on." Fred took a big bite of his pizza. "I'll be back for that." He followed his brother out of the cafeteria.
