"I- I understand." Chris swallowed thickly, running a hand through his knotty hair. He looked to his best friend with a mix of pity and sorrow, silently begging for him to leave the situation to rest. He had heard enough.
"I don't think you do, Chris!" Sebastian exclaimed, "I really don't think you do understand. She cried over you. She cried for DAYS."
"I know." Chris breathed in response. His eyes pricked with tears.
Sebastian let out a flustered breath, "you know, do you? Then why didn't you reach out to her? Why didn't you give her any of the closure she very well deserves?" He chided, throwing his hands up in the air.
"Because I'm hurting TOO." Chris yelled, face reddening, "because I am afraid that if I see her crying in front of me, I'll apologise and beg for her back! But I can't do that to her." His gaze dropped as a tear fell from his face, "I can't hurt her any more than I already have."
Sebastian's face softened, but he didn't shy away from his point. "Chris. Look at me please." Sebastian sighed softly, wanting for Chris to slowly lift his head, "You need to understand that you've made a mistake hurting her like this. There were so many other ways you could have broken up with her than what you did."
Chris nodded. "I'm sorry." He whispered. Sebastian put a hand on his best friend's shoulder. "Don't be saying sorry to me... say sorry to Y/N."
