Avery was in a sound sleep when the nightmare began.

She was at a funeral. The Colson family, one of the families that fostered her was around her except for one of her younger foster sisters. She looked around for her but froze when her eyes landed on Jack Levenson instead.

He gave her a crooked grin before looking down. Avery's eyes followed and they landed on the casket. Inside, was her foster sister Claire.

"No," Avery shook her head. Lifting her eyes, she looked around at everybody's tear streaked face before her eyes locked in with Jack.

"It's your fault, you know it is." He tsked and Avery shook her head again.

"No," she plead.

Avery's bedroom door slammed open and the blonde quickly sat up in bed and out of her nightmare in a panic.

"We overslept!" Nami screamed and Avery looked at her best friend, still disoriented and her heart slamming against her chest.

"What?" She asked and Nami stared at her.

"For fucking graduation, we have to be at school in forty five minutes!"

"Shit," Avery scrambled out of bed.

"On our fucking graduation day? We're late on graduation day, why didn't we set alarms?" Avery quickly grabbed her towel before rushing to the bathroom. Both girls came up with a rule a few years ago, if they were both running late, which happened a lot, Avery needed to shower first so she could have time to blow dry her hair.

"Did you plan out an outfit?" Avery asked as Nami brushed her teeth.

"Yeah, I went shopping for a new dress and shoes with Lindsay and Ally." Nami replied and Avery rolled her eyes. Of course she did.

Avery showered in ten minutes before giving Nami the bathroom. She simply ran her hair under water once to handle bedhead but didn't have time to wash it. After putting some frizz prevention products in it, she set out to blow dry it.

When that was over, she set out to find a dress to graduate in. Unlike Nami, Avery did not purchase a new dress to wear today. Instead, she rummaged through her dresses and pulled out a simple baby blue dress the had a sweetheart neckline.

She didn't wear it often enough that her classmates would recognize it and that was enough for her.
The dress was flattering and the perfect length to fit under her ugly gown.

Thirty five minutes later, both women opened their bedroom doors and they turned to face each other with a grin.

"You look damn good in that cap," Nami said and Avery nodded in agreement.

"So do you," she said and the two of them made their way to the kitchen with their gowns in their hands.

"What's for breakfast?" Nami asked and Avery turned to look at her.

"Air," she replied. "We haven't gone to the grocery store in two weeks and we ate through all of our leftovers during finals week."

"Damn," Nami muttered and Avery nodded.

"If we leave now, we can go to Starbucks and get a bagel with coffee. I mean, we'll be even more late but it can probably hold us over until lunch with your parents and Timothy." Avery told her and Nami nodded. Grabbing the car keys, the two of them made their way out of the apartment.
