"Hi, Ms. Nills. How you feeling today?" Ms. Jackson smiled, checking Melody's clipboard.

"Tired. I still got a flight to catch." Melody sighed, rubbing her 7 month old belly.

"No Laysia today?" Ms. Jackson asked, eyeing the empty seat.

"No, she busy packing our suitcase before we go." Melody responded, reading the text she just got off of her watch.

"Okay, well if you wanna lay back we can start on your ultrasound. Are you finally ready for the gender today?" She smiled at her young patient.

Melody sighed, laying back on the bed as the paper crinkled underneath her.

Never did she think she would be living Miami at 20 with her 18 year old cousin, single and pregnant.

If someone had told her 3 years ago she'd be right here, in a doctor's office about to find out the gender of her baby, she woulda laughed her ass off.

Momo decided to move with her because she could tell how hard of a time Melody was having. And being 3,000 miles away alone while your depressed and pregnant with your first baby doesn't sound too good.

She didn't feel right just leaving Melody by herself, especially with how much she's been through with Melody since her and her brothers got up there.

"I think I'm finally ready today." Melody bit her lip, rubbing her belly.

"Stop kicking mommy." She popped her belly as she felt two harsh kicks to her side.

"Very active today." Ms. Jackson laughed along with Melody before sliding her shirt up.

She rubbed the cool blue gel on Melody's stomach, not missing the hiss from Melody.

"Ion think ima ever get used to that." Melody shook her head, frowning.

"It's okay. Have you thought about what you want to do for birth?" She asked, grabbing the wand.

"Umm...not really." Melody shook her head.

"That's okay. But if you want to do something at home that will need to be set up sooner rather than later." She pointed at her.

"Yes, ma'am." Melody nodded, making Ms. Jackson laugh.

They both kept their eyes on the screen as Melody felt her eyes tear up.

She usually cried every time she got an ultrasound.

It reminded her of how she was in this alone. She was scared she wasn't going to be a good mother.

She couldn't even control her high-risk pregnancy which kept getting worse or her severe asthma.
