Neteyam
(accidentally deleted😭 just had to reupload)

Warmth wrapped itself flush around his skin, the boy stirring awake. Struggling to open his eyes, he realized the weight on him, the slight tickle of hair against his arm, the slow breath against his chest. His eyes fully opened, seeing Kireyi cuddled close. He couldn't move much with her head on his arm, but he could feel their legs and tails entangled, her arms wrapped tight around his waist.

She'd looked so serene sleeping, how could he wake her? It reminded him of the morning they'd gotten back from fighting the sky people, and it only filled him with comfort that this time it was because of a more... peaceful reason.

Neteyam's mind trailed to the night before, and he genuinely couldn't come to believe they were mates now. It all was so surreal, the way he could feel Kireyi's emotions- her heartbeat and breath. Words could never explain the feeling, but it had been so intimate. He felt everything hit him at once, his insides feeling like jelly, his skin hot to the touch. Though, it hadn't been uncomfortable, tranquillity and affection taking him into a big warm hug. And oh.... they were mates now. The sentence made him feel fuzzy inside, his heart beating fast again.

His ears perked as soon as Kireyi let out a muffled mumble, moving closer. Though her slumber hadn't lasted very long, the girl eventually waking. Her bright eyes met his, and he moved in to place a gentle kiss against her temple; earning a smile in return.

Neteyam sat her up, the girl leaning against his arm. They'd grown accustom to it every morning, Neteyam or her siblings would wake her, and whoever she chose that morning wouldn't be able to get away for the first half hour or so. She'd constantly follow them, leaning against their arms and allowing them to help her out as she stayed in a fogged mindset. He simply sat with her, Kireyi cuddled into his arms as he rocked back and forth. And it was peaceful.

He'd felt so fulfilled after they mated, everything about him seeming to balance out. It must have been because of Kireyi, the girl normally so level with everything she did and felt. He watched as she clumsily shoved him away, beginning to stand and reach her arms out for his hands. Nothing came out of her mouth as she led him to one of the Spirit trees branches, motioning for the boy to sit his back against one. The second he did she was sat between his legs, back against his abdomen.

Neteyam couldn't help but chuckle, her actions slightly funny. But she looked back, tapping the longest braid in her hair and he now understood what she had meant. He carefully reached for his own Queue, connecting the two.

He took note of Kireyi, the girl immediately sighing in content and relaxing against his body. Her heartbeat was steady, and his body filled with a comfortable warmth since her emotions had been so soothing.

"You okay?" His voice slipped out rough as he hadn't spoken all morning.

"Hm," Her hair brushed against his chest as she nodded, falling deeper into his arms and chest.

They simply rested against one another, taking in each other's presence full heartedly, especially because now they had every chance to do so.

His hands softly trailed her skin, one rubbing circles along her stomach as the other slid up and down her arm. It was only a few minutes before he began kissing her shoulders and sides of her head, easing Kireyi into an even stronger relaxation. All she did was revel in his touch, her weight becoming heavier and heavier against his chest the more she calmed.

"We have to get back soon...."

"Why?" She finally spoke, her voice barely above a whisper.

His lips met her shoulder, placing a ticklish peck, "It must be around lunch already."

"But I want to stay here...." Her fingers played with his hand now, moving his fingers out and into a fist.

"I know Ma Reyi, I do too," Neteyam could feel her pleads through the Tsaheylu, and it ate at him that he couldn't fulfill it. They really did need to get back.

"Then let us stay, please?" Kireyi turned to look at the boy, her eyes wide with anticipation; so different than the look she had when she first awoke.

"Alright.... just for a little bit though, then we need to go-" Cut off by a kiss to the cheek his ears twitched at the sound of her laugh.

"Thank you Ma Teyam!" He smiled, rubbing her hair now. Silence overcame the two, Kireyi being the first to speak, "What will happen now? We have much to do when we get back to my home, and what about the sky people?"

Neteyam couldn't help but think for a little, "Then we handle it- together. It will work out I am sure, and from what I've heard, things with the sky people are going well."

"Hm.... promise?"

"I promise, and both of these places are our home now... not just yours or mine," He sunk against the tree, head laying back on the bark.

"Thank you."

Neteyam hummed, feeling as Kireyi shifted, making her way up to stand. Their Queues came undone, the feelings flooding out of him just as fast as they had entered, his eyes being met with two hands out in front of his face. He looked up to see a small smile on her face, "Come, we should head back now right?"

"Yeah, let's go."
