Neteyam

He could feel as Kireyi's tail brushed against his back, catching his attention. Looking over he could see her ears lowered, eyes staring off into nothing, "You okay Reyi?"

Kireyi, who had been so out of it and tuning out her surroundings jumped at his voice, turning to him, "Yeah, I'm fine."

"Promise?" Neteyam's face tensed, still seeing the discomfort exude off the girl.

"Yeah. I promise."

He nodded leaning in a little more, "You can always let me know okay?"

"Okay...." Neteyam still felt she was off, sneaking one of his hands closer to her and taking her hand into his own.

The group finished eating, and were going to split ways, "How about you all join us? We could continue catch up too." Zeuke offered, and the other's agreed. Neteyam noticed how Kireyi stuck close to him as the idea was passed along, unmoving from his side.

Venturing off away from Home Tree, they all approached a series of leveled rocks, vines and large trees working as almost railings alongside them. They led upward, onto different clear areas of rock the teens could explore around. Tuk, had gone away earlier, playing with her old friends at Home Tree.

Neteyam watched as Kireyi opened up to Nimri and Wapayi, the two nonstop speaking to her and Tsireya. It had been the same for Aonung and Rotxo, Si'ipi and In'aiu asking them about the sea. Lo'ak stuck near Tsireya as they climbed up some of the rocky hill, and Neteyam had been somewhat taken by Zeuke and Hafyae.

"So you will be mating with this.... fish girl?" Hafyae chuckled.

"What do you mean by that?" Neteyam's eyes squinted, not liking how they spoke about Kireyi.

"Because bro, she is from the sea tribes!" Zeuke joined into Hafyae's laughter, yet Neteyam hadn't found it funny at all.

"And you two haven't found a mate yet I presume.... since you haven't changed at all," The two silenced, glaring at the boy.

"At least we didn't lose our titles, remember your place," Neteyam hadn't flinched at Hafyae's threat, he was still Toruk Makto's son, his family had all the same honor here just as before they left.

"I could say the same to you," He glared, walking off to find Kireyi. He thought perhaps the two would've changed but they had always been like that. Always crawling for some type of power, to be ahead- greater than others.

The sight of Kireyi calmed the boy immediately, it seemed like she was looking for him too, her eyes trailing the area around her, "Ma Reyi," He cooed, and she looked over. He advanced quickly, taking her hand and sneaking away to another level of the rocks.

"What is it?" Her eyes went wide as Neteyam took her into a hug, nuzzling his head into her neck.

"Nothing.... just wanted to see you," He stayed like that for a while, unmoving. After everything the two Omatikaya had said he was angry, he hadn't suddenly become less because he had to leave over something that wasn't his choice, and he certainly hadn't become less because he would be mating with a girl from the sea tribes. He moved his head deeper into her neck, hugging Kireyi even tighter.

"Teyam.... what is wrong?" A sigh escaped Neteyam's mouth as her hands skimmed over his hair, "Talk to me."

"You are not ashamed of us right?"

Kireyi gasped a little at his question, before holding him closer, her back had been against the vines and leaves, other than where the boy's hands wrapped around her, "No of course not.... did someone say something?"
