I woke up the next morning with soft kisses being pecked on my face.
Me: Hehe Blake stop. 🤣🤣 Blake: Babygirl wake up my family and your family are here. Me: I didn't know they were coming. Did you at least clean? Blake: Yes I did. Me: oh good ok.
I walked into the living room in my pjs but I fixed my hair and brushed my teeth.
Nahla: Hi sweetie. Me: hey mom. Hi dad, Joe: hi Sarah. Me: what are you guys doing here with everyone else? Joe: we wanted to say congrats on the engagement before we headed to see your cousins for a party. Me: oh okay. Nahla: we must be going anyways but we should catch up with you and Blake soon. Blake: actually we will come visit you guys in a couple of weeks. Nahla: oh okay see you guys then.
My parents walked out after saying good bye to everyone.
Tommy: Welcome to the family daughter in law. Me: Thank you father in law. Tommy: man what a night huh? Me: you have no idea. I stared at my ring for hours yesterday before I went to sleep.
Blake looked over and kissed my ring finger.
Blake: I knew you were happy when I saw the look on your face Sarah. Me: yeah I was soo happy you asked me. Do the kids and Casey know? Blake: yeah they know they are coming over tomorrow. Me: oh okay. Gail: thank you for saying yes to my son Sarah. He told me he asked your dad. Me: you did? Blake: a couple of weeks ago I asked him and your mom and they said they were over the moon about it. Me: oh wow ok. Gail: Sarah I knew he was going to ask you from the way he talked about you. Me: I mean I'm really shocked he asked me last night. Gail: I think no one in the world knew it was coming that fast Sarah. Me: honestly you couldn't be more right. Blake: actually only three people knew besides your parents Sarah. Me: yeah I had a feeling because you are a private person when it comes to certain things. Blake: I am.
Sarah's POV:
Last night I knew it was going to take me a couple of days to process what had happened because not even Aaron's proposal was this spontaneous. I had an idea it was going to happen but this proposal I was not expecting. Blake did a very good job hiding it. I know that Steph and Ayesha helped but the fact I think KD was the only other person who knew. Everyone else was just shocked and speechless and didn't even know what to say or think.
Blake: Kevin knew Sarah. Me: KD helped you? Blake: Yep. Ayesha and Steph helped me pick out the ring but they didn't know I was going to do the proposal. Me: Wow.
Jeter smiled at me and licked my hand which I thought was cute.
Blake's parents left a little while after they finished talking with us and Taylor showed up a little while after they did.
Taylor: I am over the moon bro. Blake: So am I. Taylor: How does it feel to be engaged? Blake: Like I feel like I'm full again. Taylor: That's because you are with someone who really appreciates and loves you man. Blake: Man that's what it feels like? Taylor: Yeah man. I feel the same with my wife and kids but with you I always wanted you to have someone when Casey cannot be with the kids that could love and appreciate them just as much as you. Blake: Sarah is definitely icing on the cake. Taylor: I'm happy to call her my sister in law. Blake I like her a lot. She's a wonderful human and she loves you man like you wouldn't believe. Blake: Yeah I know I feel the exactly same way about her. Me: You do? 🙂 Blake: I do. 😁 Taylor: I'm just happy you guys are finally really happy. Blake: Yeah for the first time in a long time we are. Taylor: I better get going but call me if you guys need anything. Blake: We will man. Taylor: Bye Sarah. Me: Bye Taylor.
He brought me in for a hug and I smiled back into it.
I sat on the couch until a zoom call came in from my kids.
Sapphire: Momma! Congrats!!!! Kyle: Congrats Mom! Blake: Thank you both! Me: Thank you babies! How are you? Kyle: We are okay. Just finishing up some homework but we wanted to call you and Blake. We found out from Instagram. We both follow the Nets page. Blake: Glad you guys are happy. Kyle: We really are. Conner: Hi mom! Hi Blake! Congrats! Me: Thank you!!! Blake: Thanks!!! Rebecca: Congrats to you both!! Blake: Thank you!!! Me: Are you guys okay? Conner: Yeah we are just happy for you guys. We just finished lunch. Me: Oh okay. 🙂
We talked with my kids for a little while longer and then we got off. It was nice to catch up with them and we would be seeing them soon.
Casey texted Blake asking if she could come over with the kids tomorrow. He texted back okay and I was happy because I knew she knew about the proposal.
A couple of minutes later I got a text from Casey also with a bunch of smiling emojis. I knew that she knew and I gave her some back.
Casey: Sarah I cannot wait to chat with you tomorrow! Me: I know same!! See you soon! Casey: See you!! 😌😌
It was just nice to get the feedback from everyone on social media and through text. We tried to respond to everyone but then a couple of seconds later there was a FaceTime call coming in from Joey.
Blake: Hey Joey!! Joey: I'm so happy for you both! I knew this was going to happen!!!! Joey's mom screamed congrats from the back and so did Kelsey. Joey: Are you guys free to have dinner with Kelsey and I this week? Blake: Yeah what about the day after tomorrow? Joey: Sounds good. See you guys then!! Me: Okay!! 🙂
Blake and I went to go eat dinner since we missed lunch talking to everyone and we just chatted for a little.
I looked down at my hand again and I smiled.
Me: I cannot believe this is happening. Blake: Me either. Me: Thank you. Blake: You're welcome. 😘
He leaned in to kiss me and it was just a special moment between us with Jeter on the floor between us.
