Shut Up, Dr. Phil: Part Three

When you arrive at Maggie's house, Dean made it very clear that he is going to break into her house to find out whatever he can before she comes back. She is currently at her art show setting up, so Dean should have plenty of time to get in, learn what he can, and get out. Sam offered to stay outside to be the lookout just in case Maggie does come back earlier than planned.

Dean parks the car and gets out, you and Sam following close behind. You decide to leave Joanna strapped in her car seat since you're only going to be right outside. There is no way you're going to go with Dean, not with the way he's been acting.

"Come on," Dean says to you as he heads up the driveway.

"I'm staying with Sam because you're so clearly capable of doing this all by yourself," you sass.

"Whatever," he grumbles.

He sneakily breaks into the house, leaving you and Sam all alone. He takes the keys and opens the trunk so that if anyone does pass by, they won't think anything of you two rummaging through the trunk for something.

"What was that all about?" Sam asks a few minutes later.

"Come on. You've seen how different Dean is. It can't be just me. Something is bothering him, and he's covering it up by drinking himself to death."

"Yeah, I've noticed."

"I don't know how to help him."

"Just be you. He'll come around sooner or later when he's forced to deal with it."

"Yeah, when is that going to happen?" you sigh.

A dozen minutes pass before something of note happens. You're on your phone to pass the time when you hear a car approach you from the front. You peek over the side of the trunk to see Maggie driving up in her very expensive and very small car. Shit, Dean is still inside, so you have to do something to distract her to give Dean more time to get the hell out of there. Sam sees her as well, so he closes the trunk, and he approaches her car slowly. You take Joanna out of the car and bring her with you because you don't feel comfortable leaving her in there alone despite only being fifty feet away.

"Mrs. Stark," Sam says and holds up his badge to her. "Could we have a moment?"

The same feeling you got when you approached Don's house is back again. Maggie is definitely the witch, and you know she can sense you as well. If she is as old as you think she is, then she sensed you when you entered this town... maybe even before that.

"Of course. Um, would you mind coming back in, say, half an hour? It's just a really bad time right now."

"It's very important that we talk to you," you say.

"Of course, and I'm happy to. I'm just in the middle of an emergency, so please come back. Thank you!"

She doesn't leave you any room to argue with her as she heads up the driveway to her home. You have to do something to warn Dean that she is coming in, so you do the first thing you think of. You place a hand on her car and use your magic to mess up the alarm system, causing the car to go off. She pauses right before she gets to her door and turns to face you and Sam. She looks at you two weird, and she turns off her car alarm with a push of a button. The younger brother jumps into action and bounces his leg, chuckling nervously.

"I'm sorry, uh, restless leg syndrome."

You see Dean in the front window, and you sigh in relief knowing that he knows Maggie is coming home. You and Sam head back to the car, and you strap Joanna in tightly right before Dean shows up. He hands over a picture of Jenny to Sam, and you know that she is next on Maggie's list.
