"Aquilina?" Amal's voice sounded behind her as Aquilina turned to walk out of the investigation room, causing her to halt her steps

"Aquilina?" Amal's voice sounded behind her as Aquilina turned to walk out of the investigation room, causing her to halt her steps.

"Yes?" Aqui turned around slowly to meet her gaze.

Amal looked frightened. Like a little girl afraid of the dark.

"Is my father really going to be alright? I mean, the Rukovoditel'... he threatened to harm him if I ever became a turncoat."

Aqui's features softened, and a small smile played at her lips.

"Amal... I can assure you that your father is in safe hands," Aqui took a few steps closer to where she had been seated before, leaning against the chair as she did so.

"And he is being treated by the very best of doctors. I'll ask Mike for permission for you to see him soon."

Amal reached out with her cuffed hands in gratitude, and a tear slipping down her face.

"Thank you! Thank you!"

Aqui gave her a full smile and straightened herself—about to leave.

"And, Aquilina?" Amal looked a bit unsure for a moment before finally resolving to speak. "There is something else you must know."

"Da da da do do doo

"Da da da do do doo..." Javier sang a familiar tune as he set the dishes on the table.

He had a day off from his official duties. And he was glad for the respite. Javier had been working endlessly for days due to his new duties.

But he had managed to tie off all the most important duties.

I can't wait to see what Aqui will think.

He hadn't been idle at home despite the chance he had gotten. Javier had chosen to use the chance to prepare dishes he knew Aqui would love.

He had been studying her likes and dislikes over the past few days.

Javier was startled when he heard the sound of the doorbell.

Who could it be?

They rarely got visitors. And Aqui hadn't told him that anyone would be dropping by.

He checked the security cam and saw the person who stood outside.

Interesting.

Aquilina was still reeling from all she had heard from Amal as she sat in the office, an elbow on her desk

Aquilina was still reeling from all she had heard from Amal as she sat in the office, an elbow on her desk.

"Have you ever heard of The Rebellion?" Amal had asked Aqui earlier on.

Amal had then gone on to explain the little she knew about the group. Yet it all boiled down to one point.

It was all her fault. Javier was in trouble because of her.

She placed her forehead in her palm.

What do I do? Where do I go from here?

Then it struck her, she had to meet with the 'Lady Al'. If she really cared for her son, she was going to have to help her.

But before stepping out of the office, Aqui made a call. One that broke her heart even before she had dialed the number.

"Mihai?"

"Hey, how are you?" Her brother's loving voice came over the phone.

"Mike, I need your help with something."

"What is it? Tell me," as usual, he sensed the sorrow in her voice.

"Can you help draw up papers to annul the marriage?"

"I believe you will be joining us for the meeting," Vladimir stood facing the one person he had to get on board for the meeting

"I believe you will be joining us for the meeting," Vladimir stood facing the one person he had to get on board for the meeting.

They had met at a secluded area in the countryside. Far away from every suspicious person.

All the others had agreed. But getting this Chinese to agree was a different matter altogether.

"Hmm..."

"Come on, I know you want this more than anyone else. And besides, our plan wouldn't work with you."

The Chinese looked deep in thought, leaning against a Maybach.

Finally sighing, the said person reached out to shake Vladimir's hand.

"I believe you will be seeing me then."

*pokes her head through the door* Miss me? 😁 Or no? 🥺

No problem. 🙃 But thanks so much for sticking around. And for your encouragement.
Going through some... painful times of recent. But God's Grace keeps me going. And your support.

I'm glad and grateful. Dios te bendiga, amores.
