Chapter Thirty-Three: Bullet

Elias watched as his brother and Danny drove out of the driveway and down the street. The ten year old boy looked over his shoulder, at Allison, who was on her phone.

"Where are they going?" he asked her while biting his nails. Allison looked up.

"Probably out to dinner," she said. "They'll be back later, but it's just us until your mom gets home."

"Do you think she'll bring home food? I'm hungry Ally." He hopped off the chair and laid down on Lydia's bed.

"I don't know buddy, but I can make you something, what do you want?" She asked and stood up. She set her phone down on the table and walked over to the small stove. She opened the cupboard and pulled out a box of mac and cheese. "This good?"

He smiled and took off his socks. "I love mac and cheese!"

Allison's phone beeped as she took out milk from the fridge and she briefly peaked at it. She saw that it was an unsaved number who texted her, so she ignored it.

"Allison?"

"Yeah, Eli?"

"Can we play a board game too?"

Allison smiled, "Sure. Does Jacob have any good games?"

"Yes! He has Battleship and Guess Who, or we could play Scrabble–my mom likes that game but I don't understand the rules."

"I like Battleship, go see if you can find it," She told him and he sprinted towards his bedroom to search for it.

Allison's phone beeped again, and then again, and again. The phone beeped frantically. She set down the pan in her hand and grabbed her phone.

You have two minutes to come outside.

One minute.

You didn't come out, Allison.

So I'm coming in.

Allison's eyes immediately averted towards the window.

There was someone outside staring at her through the window. He was completely still, but it was too dark outside to see his face. Allison glanced at the door and saw that it was unlocked. She looked back, and he was gone.

Allison ran for the door. Her heart raced, her head pounded. Who was here? Why?

She turned the lock but it wouldn't turn. She looked up and saw the man on the other side of the glass, holding onto the handle so it wouldn't lock.

"Did you really think you could keep me away, Allison?" Seth asked with a devious grin.

Allison let go of the door and started to back up. She sprinted for Jacob and Elias's bedroom.

Seth swung the door open and grabbed her by her hair, yanking her to the ground. When she tried to sit up, he stepped on her chest.

"Seven months," He said. "It's been seven months since you left your house. And for what? To get away from me? Do you know how long it took me to realize you were here? Not long at all."

"What do you want Seth," Allison gasped and tried prying his foot off of her. He wouldn't budge. "Seth, I can't fucking breathe!"

"What do I want?" He laughed and lifted up his foot. He put his hands in his hair and began pacing around the trailer. "What do I fucking want? For you to feel the pain I've felt, Allison. The loneliness. The betrayal."

"You were abusive, Seth. I had no choice but to leave–"

"Abusive? What the fuck do you mean by abusive? I fucking loved you, I cared about you, you stupid fucking bitch."

While he was turned away for a split second, Allison reached up and grabbed the butterknife off of the counter. She sat on top of it, hiding it from his view when he turned back around.

"And then you fucking left me. Day after day I went to your house only to find it empty just like the day before. I didn't even run into your father. But then I remembered, daddy's probably away on a work trip, right?" He walked back over to her and squatted. "But for seven months? I wonder what your daddy's doing, Allison? I wonder who?"

"Shut up," she seethed.

"I've been watching you, you know," he said, "I've been watching you hang around that cop. That tan one, and the blond one who follows him around like a lost puppy. I've been waiting for the right moment to come here. This place is a tiny-ass shit-hole, but it's always full of people."

"What do you want, Seth," she asked again.

"I want to break you, Allison. Just like you broke me," he whispered while touching her bottom lip with his thumb, "Because I can't have you anymore and I'm not going to let anyone else have you."

Allison swallowed hard and gripped onto the knife under her.

"That butterknife won't do as much as you wish it would," he said as he stood up. "But please, try me. Hurt me a little more." He reached into his jacket and pulled out a black gun. "Or don't, the choice is yours."

"You're going to shoot me?"

He laughed. "Part of me wants to. Part of me wants to watch you bleed and suffer."

"Because I left home?"

"BECAUSE YOU LEFT ME ALL ALONE," he screamed. "YOU WERE ALL I FUCKING HAD, ALLISON ARGENT. AND NOW I HAVE NOTHING. YOU AREN'T MINE ANYMORE."

Allison put up her hands. "Seth, you don't have to hurt me, okay? Think about this. The trouble you would get in–"

"It wouldn't even fucking matter."

"Yes it would, you know it would. Don't be crazy."

"Crazy? I'm way past crazy, Ally."

Seth took off the safety and held the gun up, pointing it at her leg. He pulled the trigger and the bullet instantly shot out with a BANG. Allison screamed in pain and reached forwards, her hands now covered in blood.

Elias, who was still in the bedroom, hiding under the bed, quietly crawled out from beneath it. Allison needs help, I have to be a man.

"Now imagine that feeling in your heart, Allison," Seth told her. "Over, and over again. Every day for seven FUCKING months."

Allison couldn't answer, she was choking on sobs.

Sneak out and grab the phone, Elias thought, it's right next to the door. They won't notice. Call 911, like Mom told you to do in case of an emergency.

"IMAGINE IT!" Seth screamed.

Elias quietly opened the door. He watched as Seth raised the gun once again, but now aimed at Allison's chest.

"Here," Seth said, "Let me show you how it feels."

And just as he was about to pull the trigger

"NO!" Elias screamed.

The trigger was pulled as Seth turned to look at the boy. Elias stared at him in shock. He looked at Allison, who stared back at him.

The pain began to set in, and Elias felt his knees buckle. The pain was unbearable. Allison screamed as she watched the child sink to the floor.

Seth dropped the gun and stared at Elias. He had shot a kid. A fucking kid.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?" Allison screamed.

Seth walked over to the little boy, who lay limp on the floor. Allison dragged her body across the floor and reached for the gun. Once it was in her hands, she yelled Seth's name.

"You're going to take my phone and call for an ambulance," She told him.
