12. Rowan.
"Have you talked to him since he left?" Rosa asks me, pulling the banana bread out of the oven.
"I talked to him when he landed and then the day after that but since then no" I shake my head, placing the plates onto the table. When I hear no response from Rosa I turn around seeing her scrolling through my phone before clicking something.
"Hey, talk to your girlfriend" She says sternly into the phone.
"What are you doing?" I whisper yell as she shoves the phone against my face.
"Talk to him" She points walking out of the kitchen.
"Hi Baby" He says into the phone and I smile, looking down at my feet.
"Hi, happy thanksgiving"
"You too, what are you doing today?" He asks.
"Just cooking until my mom, and Rosas family gets to my house" I shrug "What are you doing today?"
"I'm just hanging out with Mackenzie while my mom cooks" He chuckles "I miss you" He says quietly, and I blush.
"I miss you too" I bite my lip, and Rosa walks into the kitchen, winking at me before grabbing a bottle of water and walking out.
"Shut up Mack" Austin huffs "Dude stop!" He yells but the line goes dead. I scoff and toss my phone into the living room it landing on the couch.
"Why'd you throw the phone in there?" Rosa asks, walking back into the kitchen.
"Austin- or Mackenzie I guess hung up in me and we need to finish and there's no room on the counter so" I shrug, moving to put some of the food on the table. Rosa runs to open the door, letting my mom and her family in. My mom comes walking up the steps hugging me tightly.
"Hi, Rowan"
"Hi Ma" I kiss her cheek, and she pulls away looking over the food. She has a criticizing look on her face and I sigh rolling my eyes "What?"
"Nada" She shakes her head. (Nothing)
"Ma" I say in a warning tone and she raises her hands in defense, sitting down at the table.
"Rowan it's lovely to see you again" Rosas mother Clara hugs me, kissing my cheek lightly.
"You too" I smile.
"Rowan!" Rosas dad yells, opening his arms.
"Phil!" I mock, running up to hug him.
"Everything looks so good" He gushes, taking a seat next to his wife.
"Well, well, well you just get more and more attractive as the years go on" Rosas little brother winks, and I roll my eyes.
"Shut up Tyler" Rosa smacks the back of his head "She's taken"
"What? You said you'd wait for me" He frowns, fake crying.
"Oh hush, that was 10 years ago" I laugh "Go sit down" I point to the table and he rolls his eyes playfully, sitting down next to his mom. Rosa and I put the rest of food on the table before taking our seats. We pass around the food and tell each other what we're thankful for, the conversation then turning to me.
"So, Ro" Phil starts "What's it like having a superstar boyfriend?" He asks, and my mom scoffs.
"Ma" I huff.
"¿Qué? Tu sabes no me gusta su novio" She shrugs and I huff. (What? You know I don't like your boyfriend)
I choose to just roll my eyes I'm response to her, turning my attention to Phil "He's not a superstar" I chuckle "Sure he's kind of famous but he's really just a normal guy" I shrug.
"Kind of famous? The kid has 86 million followers on Twitter and has a net worth of 3 billion dollars" He gasps, and I laugh.
"Still doesn't change the fact that he's a normal guy" I shrug "Just because he's famous doesn't mean I'll look at him any different, he's an amazing guy and I'm lucky to have met him" I grin and Rosa 'aw's' under her breath.
"They're super cute too, he visits her at the bakery and when we were going out of business he bought us a whole new place" Rosa gushes and I smack her on the arm.
"Going out of business?" My mom repeats, and I glare at Rosa "See! I told you this was bad"
"Ma, stop" I roll my eyes.
"No! You're being stupid, and I'm won't have it" She yells on her thick accent.
"I'm not being stupid! I'm doing what I love Ma, why won't you let me be happy?"
"Tu necesitas dinero" She says slowly. (You need money)
"No necesito dinero, necesito ser contento Ma" I yell and she rolls her eyes. (I don't need money, I need to be happy)
"Eres estupida" She rolls her eyes, crossing her arms. (You're stupid)
"Ay dios mio" I huff, stomping out of the kitchen, I walk into my room, slamming the door behind me and locking it pulling out my laptop. I pull up iMessage on my MacBook and text Austin.

Hi... How's everything going?
From: Austin😍❤️💑💏
Good, why? What happened?
To: Austin😍❤️💑💏
My mom is just being a jerk but it's alright

Same thing happening with Mack. Decided to lock myself in my room😂

"Ro, can you open the door?" Rosa knocks softly on the door, and I sigh, standing up to unlock it letting her in. I walk back to my bed and lay down , staring at the ceiling "I'm so sorry Ro, I forgot how your mom was and-"
"Don't apologize, it's not your fault that my mom doesn't accept what I do" I shrug "I'm gonna do it anyways and I'm going to be happy as fuck and there's nothing she can do about it"
"You have me" She grins "And Austin, and my dad" She laughs "But mostly Austin and I" She winks.
"I like him" I smile "Like a lot and I don't know if it's like a beginning of a relationship happiness, but I really like him"
"I know you do, and I think it's something that will last a long time" She lays down beside me, laying her head on my shoulder.
"I hope so" I chuckle "But there's so much of me that doesn't know how long it'll last, you know? Like he loves in Miami and that's his home and New York is mine"
"He'd probably relocate for you" She laughs "He's head over heels for you"
"We've been dating for like a month" I laugh.
"Doesn't matter you've guys have known each other for almost six and those months away was perfect timing for someone to fall fast" She shrugs "Speak of the devil" She points to my laptop as a FaceTime from Austin pops up.
"I'll leave you to it" She winks, getting up and walking out of the room. I answer the FaceTime call, and sit up in my bed, throwing my hair over my shoulder.
"Hi Baby" He smiles.
"Hi, how are you?"
"I'm good, everyone just left so it's finally quiet" He chuckles, running his hand through his hair "How are you?"
"I'm alright" I shrug "Kind of just want to sleep" I laugh.
"Me too, but I have some stuff to do before sleeping" He pouts and I smile.
"I can't sleep until I clean everything up, and make sure everyone is gone-" I cut myself off when my door handle twists "Hold on" I half close my computer, my mom walking into my room.
"I'm leaving now" She says quietly "We cleaned up earlier, so you don't have to worry"
"Alright" I nod, my voice monotone.
"I'll see you later" She says before walking out, I wait a couple moments before fully opening my laptop, huffing loudly.
"No apology" I huff "Nothing! God she pisses me off so bad"
"Calm down Baby, she'll come around"
"That's impossible" I shake my head "There is no coming around with my mother"
"Be optimistic" He smiles "Keep your head up"
"When are you coming back?" I ask, covering my face as I yawn.
"Soon, very soon" He nods "But it looks like you're tired, so I want you to go to bed alright?"
"No it's fine-"
"Rowan, go to sleep, I'll be there before you even know it" He smiles.
"Okay okay, goodnight Austin"
"Goodnight Rowan" He waves before hanging up.
