Chapter Seven

-Kate's P.O.V-

Oh great, him again. He is seriously the last person who I wanna see right now. If only I had a gun, I could've threatened him to fly back to Hollywood and leave me and my life alone. Sadly, that's easier said than done.

"What do you want?" I sighed gloomily.

"You've been in there for a while." He said instead.

"Yeah, and who's fault do you think it is?"

"Hey, I'm sorry." He said unconvincingly.

"Just save it." I snapped. "You'll never be sorry, but you did a good job at being normal."

"I really am sorry." He said again. "How am I supposed to know that teachers give detentions so easily? I thought that you had to break a rule in order to get one."

"No you don't. You can get one whenever the teacher is mad at you. You just have to do it. I know that I've said it a number of times, but you are a total jerk."

I had stomped down the sidewalk angrily, trying my best to keep my cool. I can totally forgive him for the shampoo bottles, but he's even sabotaging my life in school? Now that's what I call crossing the line. Now he's not only annoying, but he's also idiotic.

"Is it too late for you to book a suite?" I frowned at him.

"I can't say it's too late, but I doubt that they're any available rooms last minute."

"It's okay, just book one, I can wait. I just can't stand seeing you for more than twenty-four hours."

          "But you already did."

          "Yeah, and I'm going insane."

"I said I'm sorry." He repeated. "Okay, listen..." I was forced to stop when he managed to find his way to slide up to me and block my view. "What do you want me to do?"

"That's the last thing that I want you to do."

"What's the last thing?" he asked.

"For you to do something." I said flatly. "There's nothing that you can do anymore. I'm screwed. I got a detention. No colleges are going to accept me. I'm finished."

"Man, it can't be that serious, can it?"

"Why don't you try getting one yourself?" I continued to walk and had totally ignored him after that. To be honest, I was just exaggerating. Maybe I should act like it's the end of the world, and maybe then, he'll eventually learn how to stop bugging me and actually do things for me, and be normal. I know that he'll win the bet if that happens, but I don't care about the bet right now. I don't think that I can survive if this keeps happening.

When we reached home, there was nothing but total silence. I've decided to give him the silent treatment from now on. Maybe I should learn how to act emotionless. If I turn emotionless, he'll eventually find that bugging me is boring, and he'll leave me alone. Yeah, that's right.

"C'mon Kate, you can't be serious about all that, right?" he asked, actually sounding a little worried now.

"I am serious. Do I look like I'm joking?" I said dismissively, still trying my best not to express any feeling for the moment.

"Gosh, I never knew how serious this could get." He smiled wryly.

"Of course. You never know anything." I yawned. "Now, if you'll excuse me I'll be in my room."

Well, seems to me like I've succeeded at acting. Maybe I should go to Hollywood. Who knows? I might even end up being more famous than him! And I can completely sabotage his career by destroying all his records. Man, I love where this is going.

I was sitting in my room for a while, hoping that he'll turn up and say some long, apologetic speech, and then I'll catch it on tape and replay it all over again. However, I've been sitting there for two hours now, and I'm bored out of my life.

Fine, I'll assume that he's in his room, rehearsing his speech. Sooner or later, he's gonna come in and say sorry like he mean it. Uh-huh, he's gonna do it alright.

As though by magic, I heard a knock on the door and came Alex with a straight face.

"How long are you planning just to sit there and do nothing?" he asked.

"Who says that I'm not doing anything?" I muttered.

"Uh, obviously you're not." He said while analyzing my room. "Oh yeah, this is actually my second time coming in here."

"I never said that you can come in."

"Ooh, harsh." He winced. "I know that I've said this tons of times, but I really am sorry, okay?"

"Prove it." I said while folding my arms. This is when he should apologize emotionally, right? Funny, he doesn't seem to be doing that now.

"I don't think that I can prove anything. You did say that the last thing that you want me to do was to do something, right? So here I am, not doing anything at all." He sighed. "Man, it's boring."

"You're not proving it." I frowned.

"Hmm, well..." he raised a brow. "What makes you so sure that I should be the one to prove things right now?"

          "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh yeah? When I met you, you were this enthusiastic, loud and outspoken person..." he hesitated. "And now, you're behaving all dull and boring."

"That's because I have no future."

"Really? Or is this just some sort of trick to get me into feeling guilty?"

"Like I'll do that." I tried to keep a straight face. How did he find out? How did he know? The plan was going so well! But wait, I can't give in now. I have to stay secretly defensive. I can't let him catch me. I thought that I was doing a pretty good job...

"Oh well, okay then." He shrugged. "I'll leave you alone now."

He walked slowly away from me and headed towards the door. I think he's walking too slowly. I think he's on to something here.

All of a sudden he pulled out a medium-sized blue notebook and that's when it hit me.

"YOU PUT THAT DOWN RIGHT NOW!" I screamed, unable to hide my emotions anymore.

"Hah, see, I told you that you were faking." He laughed. "It's my first day of school this year and I am still having a crush on Drake–"

"GIVE ME THAT!" I jumped on him aggressively and that's when I felt like we were in a TNA wrestling match, and it doesn't seem like either of us are giving up.

He managed to get away and now we were running around the house like idiots. I can't believe how quick this guy is! Man, how I wish I'd seen that coming.

"'Today, I just heard upsetting news. Drake, the love of my life is taken by this stupid redhead named Natalie!' Ooh, drama." He teased.

"Give it back you moron!" I continued to chase him around until I got tired. This is so unfair. It's like he didn't even break a sweat! "Fine, I give up!" I panted. "You caught me, okay?"

"I know I did." He laughed.

"And everything was going so well." I sighed silently. "I can't believe that you snuck into my room and took that!"

"Oh, well, you were in the grocery store, and I figured that I was a little bored so I decided to check out your room."

"How dare you enter a girl's room!" I snapped.

"That's not all. I even discovered what stuff was in your dresser..."

"WHAT!" I exploded. "You nasty stinking pervert!"

"Hey, whoa, I'm just kidding!" he chuckled.

"That's not funny!" I breathed. "Oh my gosh, I don't know what to say to you anymore."

"Good, don't say anything." He smiled as he continued to scan my notebook.

"Ugh, stop reading that you stupid!"

"Sorry, I can't help it." He shrugged.

"I wrote that like, last year and I know that it's stupid. Fine, whatever, if you're going to threaten me with that or expose it to the school and ruin my life, just do it. I don't give a freaking damn anymore." I said angrily.

"Ah, fine." He had shut the book tight after that. "Just relax, I won't say anything."

"I don't trust you at all."

"Am I really such a jerk to you?"

"You're more than a jerk." I said brutally. It's not like it'll hurt his feelings or anything. Besides, I'm not even sure if he has feelings.

"I can't totally deny that. But just so you know, I'm only a jerk to you." He smiled slightly.

"That's because you don't bug others like how you bug me. Are you on a secret mission to ruin my life?"

"Nah, I'm just here for...some reasons."

He sighed and had handed me the notebook, and I was almost afraid to take it because I wasn't sure if he's hiding any trick behind all that. I guess he read my mind.

"There's nothing to worry about." He said.

          "I really can't trust you." I frowned.

He said nothing but smiled suddenly. "Okay, then I guess I'll leave it in your room..."

"Oh fine, give me that." I snatched it away from him quickly.

"Man, I haven't had so much fun in years." He said and beamed at me, and laughed.
