SEASON TWO - EPISODE TWENTY
"CITY BENEATH THE SEA"

...Lafayette Cemetery...

Dahlia is in one of the tombs, which is full of lit white candles. She is kneeling in front of a small altar on which a stone cauldron full of blood sits. She mixes the blood with her fingers, coating them in the blood, before waving her fingers in the air.

[voiceover] "We define ourselves by our family" Dahlia says.

...Mikaelson Compound...

Klaus is still laying in a coffin, where the golden dagger Kol and Davina made is still stabbed into his chest, desiccating his body. Rebekah and Elijah stand beside him, looking conflicted and guilty about what they've done to him.

[voiceover] "From birth, we share their names..."

...The Bayou...

Hayley is trying to calm the babies down as she sees Jackson carrying Rosalind inside one of the shacks, still unconsciously. The rest of the Crescent pack are busy unloading their vehicles.

[voiceover] "...Entrust them to protect that which we hold most dear" Dahlia says.

...Josh's and Aiden' Apartment...

Josh has just returned for the first time since Aiden's death. When he walks through the door, he sees a note that Aiden left for him on the counter which reads, "Call me when you get home. - A," which he picks up with a hand that is still stained with Aiden's blood. After reading it, Josh sighs deeply and closes his eyes in grief.

[voiceover] "We value them above all others, and yet we are inevitably forced apart" Dahlia says.

...Kol's Playhouse...

Davina is working on a spell at one of the tables, which involves a magic circle created with black sand, lit black candles, several dead birds, and Kol's paragon diamond. She holds her hands out over the ritual set-up and murmurs silent words under her breath. After a moment, Davina grows discouraged.

[voiceover] "Promises are made and left unkept"

...St Louis Cathedral...

Freya is working on her own spell in the bell tower, using dozens of lit candles to fuel her magic. She takes a break and stares out the window worriedly.

[voiceover] "Children, in particular, turn their backs on those who raised them, seeking lives of their own"

...Lafayette Cemetery...

Dahlia continues to swirl the blood in her cauldron with her fingers as she works on her spell. She looks up at the ceiling as she rubs her bloody fingers together, and her eyes roll in the back of her head as she senses Klaus laying desiccated in his coffin at the compound.

"The bond of family is not a bond forged on choice. In fact, some would see family as a terrible burden" Dahlia says.

Suddenly, Klaus awakens with a gasp, only he is no longer laying daggered in the compound, instead, he is laying on the ground in a village near a forest where he is half-leaning against a stone wall that wraps around a small cottage. He breathes deeply as he takes in his surroundings, and eventually notices that Dahlia is standing in front of him with a small smirk on her face.

"And thus, Niklaus, you find yourself here with me" she smiles.

"Dahlia" Klaus sighs.

He looks down at his chest to find that the dagger is gone, but he is still bleeding from a wound right in front of his heart.

"What have you done to me?" He stands to his feet and approaches her "Where are Rosie and my children?"

He lunges for Dahlia, but she vanishes into thin air, only to reappear behind him. This only makes Klaus more frustrated.

"Get out of my head!" he shouts.

"I'm not in your head. You're in mine. And, seeing as you lie daggered by your own beloved brother, you have no choice but to listen" Klaus looks at her warily "I have a proposition for you! Come along"

She starts to walk away from the cottage, farther into the village, and Klaus looks unhappy and suspicious as he reluctantly follows behind her. As he does so, the sound of Dahlia's song played on a violin is heard around them.

...Dahlia's Mind...

Klaus continues walking behind Dahlia as she leads him into a village.

"Spare me the agonizing boredom and explain what it is you want" Klaus says frustrated.

"Quiet" Dahlia demands.

The two stop when they make it to the end of the village square. It immediately becomes clear that they are not solely in Dahlia's mind, but are also in her memories; this one specifically takes place in the Kingdom of Norway in the 10th century, some time before Esther sought Dahlia's help in 972 A.D. There are young children running around while adult women clean and cut fruits and vegetables and men tend to their livestock.

"I have no use for demented dreamscapes" he says annoyed.

"Niklaus, listen" she says.

Klaus sighs and focuses his hearing, eventually realizing that the village is being attacked by Viking warriors, who are violently and mercilessly attacking the locals. Klaus and Dahlia watch as young Esther, wearing a yellow dress and a flower crown, and young Dahlia, in a rose-pink dress, scream as they run away from the fighting and hind behind a large barrel of hay.

"The Vikings came while you were in the garden!" Young Esther says terrified.

As she speaks, dead men, women, and children lay motionless on the ground while the Viking warriors rush to take down anyone they can find.

"I'm scared, Dahlia" Young Esther whispers.

"Don't be. I will protect us, Esther. Come what may, we must stick together, always and forever. Promise?" Young Dahlia cups her face.

"I promise" Young Esther nods.

They clutch each other's hands desperately and press their foreheads together as they both begin to hum Dahlia's song. Klaus watches them curiously as they are eventually found and tackled by a Viking who tries to pull Esther away from Dahlia.

"No! No! Unhand her!" Dahlia shouts.

Dahlia throws the Viking backward forcefully with telekinesis, but when the other Vikings see this happen, two other men rush toward the young girls and throw feed sacks over their heads before taking them captive.

"NO! NO! LET ME GO!" Young Esther kicks and struggles.

"NO! NO! LET ME GO! LET ME GO!" Young Dahlia screams.

Dahlia looks troubled as she revisits this memory, but Klaus seems as though he's beginning to make sense of her.

"Let me guess...the Vikings slaughtered the entire village" Klaus says.

"Esther and I were the only ones who survived. We promised to stay together..." Klaus cuts her off.

"...Yes, 'always and forever' A familiar promise. But, then, you knew that. I suppose you think that makes us kindred spirits" Klaus says.

"Not exactly. What I mean to show you is that we can be allies" she says.

Klaus scowls, but seems to be considering this possibility.

...St Louis Cathedral...

Elijah has just arrived in the bell tower of the cathedral to meet with Freya and determine the next step in their plan. Freya has begun to panic when Elijah updates her on recent events.

"Rosie is gone?! You need to get her and the babies back here, immediately!" Freya says desperately.

"When Dahlia has been defeated. For now, they are safe" Elijah says.

Freya frantically starts setting up the components of a spell.

"Nowhere is safe from Dahlia, and we will have no chance of ending her without those babies" Freya says.

"What are you saying?" Elijah asks slightly suspicious.

"Dahlia is protected by a powerful magic. We have collected items that represent her vulnerabilities...sacred soil, the ash of a fallen Viking, and the blood of the witch who broke her heart" Freya explains.

"Yours" Elijah points out.

"Yes. Now, I will use these ingredients to create a 'killing ground' where Dahlia will be rendered mortal, but...we need to lure her there, Elijah" Freya says.

"Are you suggesting that I position my niece and nephew as a bait?" Elijah asks clearly unhappy.

Freya stops setting up her spell, but remains speechless, which Elijah takes as a 'yes'.

"Well, how wonderfully convenient, to offer this strategy when Niklaus has been removed" Elijah says.

"Klaus cannot be reasoned with" Freya says.

"You cannot honestly believe I would allow you to do this..." Elijah was cut off.

"What I believe is you will make the right choice for Theo and Hope. There is no other way to keep them from the miserable existence I endured under the slavery of a tyrant" Freya says impatiently.

"Of course, if Dahlia does die, you will also be free of that tyranny. No more running, no more hiding. So, do not insult my intelligence by painting your actions as selfless" Elijah snaps.

"If you will not bring Rosie back here, I will find the twins myself. And, as I said...there is no other way" Freya says.

Elijah stares at her, clearly conflicted.

...Dahlia's Mind...

Klaus is still lying daggered and desiccated in a coffin at the compound, but his consciousness remains in Dahlia's mind, where she has now brought him to a little cottage full of lit white candles and is showing him around. It's still her memories from the 10th century after she and Esther were captured by the Vikings.

"Charming" Klaus says looking around.

"This dismal hovel is where I endured the terrors of Viking captivity for years" Dahlia says.

She points to the door, where a Viking is bringing in a struggling young Dahlia before throwing her onto the floor. She's dirty and disheveled, with several healing cuts on her face along with a fading black eye, and as soon as the Viking is gone, she scrambles to her feet and walks toward a table with more lit candles. She grabs a snake, which is laying on the table, and slices it open, squeezing its blood and intestines into a wooden bowl.

"I performed the dark magic they demanded so that Esther would be free of their violent abuse. While she was out in the sun gathering herbs, I toiled in the gray of this room. But, I never resented her. We'd made a promise" she explains.

"Is this your feeble attempt to garner sympathy?" Dahlia rolls her eyes in annoyance "To what end? No ancient plight will justify your intentions to enslave my children!"

"Oh, Niklaus, our plights are the same" she says.

Just then, a smiling young Esther, still wearing a crown of flowers upon her head, walks into the cottage and joins young Dahlia. Young Esther is holding a bouquet of flowers in her hand, and tries to cover up the fact that she is clearly smitten.

"You've been with Mikael" Young Dahlia says unhappy.

"We were only talking" Young Esther says.

Young Dahlia is clearly jealous of Esther's happiness, but she forces herself to smile. She holds a bundle of herbs in her hands, which she has dipped in the blood in the bowl, and goes over to young Esther to show her.

"No matter. I have something to show you!" Esther looks at the bundle curiously as Dahlia lowers her voice to a whisper "This is potent sage soaked in serpent's blood! It will give us strength. We can get out of this place! Esther, together, we can live forever!"

Young Esther looks at her patronizingly and sighs.

"Dahlia, stop." Dahlia's smile falls "I no longer wish to practice magic"

Young Dahlia looks stunned, and present-day Dahlia looks hurt to be reliving this memory.

"Magic has kept us alive!" Young Dahlia says.

"And Mikael will protect me now, sister" Young Dahlia, looking betrayed, takes a step away from her sister, while Klaus frowns as he watches "We plan to marry...and have a family"

"I am your family. I am your sister" Dahlia begins to become even more upset "We promised each other..." she was cut off.

"You will always be my sister, Dahlia! But, I wish for children of my own. And..." She sighs "I love him"

Esther turns to leave, but Dahlia desperately grabs her arm and pulls her back.

"Stay, Esther! Let's sing our song!" Young Dahlia pleads.

Young Esther rips Dahlia's hand off of her arm, and is angry when she sees that Dahlia's bloody fingers have stained her white dress sleeves.

"I don't remember that silly little tune anymore, Dahlia!" Young Esther says annoyed.

Young Esther sighs and tries to wipe the bloodstains from her dress, and young Dahlia looks at her hands, devastated by her sister's words. Klaus looks as though he almost feels bad for present-day Dahlia as he watches the younger version of his mother leave the cottage. Young Dahlia starts rubbing the bundle of sage and hums her song under her breath as she tries her best not to cry, but after a moment, she falls to her knees on the floor and begins to sob as she hums. Present-day Dahlia closes her eyes, clearly affected by this reminder as she kneels in front of her younger self and looks at her sadly.

...The Bayou...

Hayley, Jackson and the others werewolves were preparing their stuff to follow their trip.

Hope and Theodore continues to whine and sniffs. They weren't crying anymore, but it was clear that something was bothering them.

Maybe Rosalind's absence...

After all, they're very attached to her.

"Hey" Hayley says to Jackson as she jogs towards her, while she tries to feed the babies. Try "Everything ready?"

"Almost" he says "Rosie should be awake any minute"

Hayley sighs in defeat as Theodore continues to turns his face away from the bottle.

"I know" she says quietly "But she'll understand"

Jackson raises an eyebrow.

"Do you think so?" he asks.

"Nop" Hayley says "it's more a hope"

Suddenly, they hear a twig from near, startling them.

"What's that?" Hayley whispers, putting herself in front of the babies in a protective manner.

Another snap was heard.

As the couple were starting to get very concerned and scared, the babies seemed more relaxed than ever, which earned confused stares from both Hayley and Jackson.

Looking forward to where they thought the noise was coming from, they missed a very pissed hybrid walking towards them, in a complete silence, as a predator, with her eyes burning in rage.

She passes the stroller with Hope and Theodore in and winks at them, seeing the twins happily smiling.

Rosalind grabs Hayley's and Jackson's arms and twisted it slightly, approaching her mouth to whisper on their ears.

"Now, who's the dumb mind behind my kidnapping?" she asks in a low-scary whisper.

They both gulp and she releases their arms, kneeling in front of the babies and covering them with kisses.

"Oh, mommy's here" she smiles, covering her anger.

The babies coos and opened their arms happily for her to take them.

...Dahlia's Mind...

Dahlia and Klaus are still in Dahlia's memory of when young Esther admitted to young Dahlia that she planned to marry Mikael and give up witchcraft. Dahlia is kneeling in front of her still-sobbing younger self while Klaus wanders around the room.

"So, Esther was cruel. You'll excuse my complete lack of surprise. Seems it does run in the family" Klaus says shrugging.

"She left me for one of the very men who slaughtered our village and stole us away. My own sister abandoned me, just as your siblings have done" Klaus scowls angrily at this reminder "And, like you, I have been unjustly painted as the villain of the story"

After a moment, young Dahlia rises to her feet and walks over to the table and angrily shoves all of the materials on top of it onto the floor.

"UGH!" Young Dahlia screams.

Young Dahlia starts to sob, and Klaus turns away, visibly uncomfortable by her emotional outburst, to speak with present-day Dahlia.

"If you have a deal to propose, then find my body and undagger me!" Klaus says.

Dahlia rises to her feet and wipes a single tear from her cheek and walks toward her younger self, who is now looking at some of the ruined materials of her spell.

"Oh, I have the means to undagger you. I'm just not finished here" she says.

"I don't care about my mother!" Klaus says.

"What I have to show you next is not about your mother. It's about your son and daughter. And, if you have any chance to save them of what is to come, I suggest you listen" she says.

Klaus sighs reluctantly and stares at her.

~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~

Dahlia is leading Klaus through the woods of her mind-space. They are still in Norway, but this time, it is in the early 11th century.

"Very cliché. Tell me, did you inspire the witches of Grimm lore? Enslaving a young girl in a hut on the edge of a dark forest? I suppose you plan for this to be my children's fate" Klaus mocked.

"I did not enslave Freya, I kept her from those who abuse our craft, demonized us...and, most importantly, I shielded her from herself" Dahlia says.

In this memory, 11th century Freya, who is a young adult woman now and wearing a yellow wool dress, has set up a table in the woods next to a fire where she is performing a spell. There are small dolls hanging in the trees around her, and there are herbs and plants on the table. She stands in front of the fire and throws a handful of herbs into it, looking angry as she watches them burn. She then holds up a hand, causing the fire to grow from a small flame to the size of a large bonfire, which attracts a now-older Dahlia to come looking for her and check on her.

"Freya. Freya! Freya!" She grabs Freya's arm and breaks her out of her trance. She then looks at the fire and frowns "Where did you get the yarrow flower?"

Freya says nothing, she simply continues to breath deeply as she stares at the flames. Dahlia quickly realizes what Freya has done.

"You cannot go past the stream, it is too dangerous!" Dahlia says.

"Then where shall I go? To the hovel? Or maybe to your garden? Oh, no, I'm not allowed to venture that far...I might encounter another person, and you would not stand for that!" Freya says angrily.

"People are frightened of that which they do not understand" She reaches out to caress Freya's face "They will only hate you..."

Freya furiously smacks Dahlia's hand away from her and begins to scream.

"I HATE THIS PLACE! I WANT TO SEE MORE THAN THE SAME TREES, THE SAME HILLS, A THAT ISN'T YOURS" Freya yells furiously.

Suddenly, Freya's magic begins to overwhelm her, and the wind starts to blow intensely around them. Dahlia begins to worry.

"Freya, control it" Freya whimpers and grabs her head with her hands as the winds become ever more powerful "Control yourself, Freya!"

From nearby, present-day Dahlia and Klaus are watching this memory play out, and Dahlia gives Klaus a significant look as though to emphasize her point.

"Focus!" Dahlia says.

Freya is still clutching her head as the wind whips her long hair around her face, and her nose starts to bleed profusely as a result of the immense magical power she is using. 11th century Dahlia lifts her arms to protect her face from the wind as Freya begins to spit up copious amounts of blood.

"Freya! Freya!" Dahlia says worried.

Suddenly, dozens of dead starlings and crows begin to fall from the sky and rain down around the two witches. Overwhelmed, Freya screams at the top of her lungs and clutches her temples as she falls to her knees.

"AAAAHHH!" Freya yells.

Freya starts to cry as Dahlia kneels and wraps her arms around her, and after a moment, the wind starts to die down as Freya regains control. Klaus and present-day Dahlia continue to watch them silently from afar as younger Dahlia takes Freya's head in her hands and looks her in the eyes.

"Sing with me. Calm your heart" Dahlia says.

The two begin to sing Dahlia's song together, and Klaus seems horrified by this emotional and magical outburst from Freya as he turns to talk to present-day Dahlia.

"She was completely out of control" Klaus says quietly.

"First-born witches in this bloodline possess devastating power" Dahlia says.

Klaus sighs and begins to sigh as he walks over to younger Freya and Dahlia, who are now kneeling on the ground and hugging each other tightly.

"You're saying this is what's to come for Theodore and Hope?" he asks.

"Your children will suffer far more than Freya" Dahlia says "They're both carriers of an immense power, capable of wonderful things" she says with a spark in her eyes, causing a threatening growl to erupt from his chest "their magic will be tainted by your vampire blood as well as the aggressive wolf temperament. Without the proper tutelage that only I can provide, Theodore's and Hope's power will grow unchecked. They will lash out at everyone, including you and Rosalind. They will devastate the city that you love, and then their terror will spread far beyond. I, too, am a first-born, so I was the only one to help save Freya from herself, just as I am the only one who can save your children!" Klaus sighs, knowing that she has a point "You've seen it, Klaus. You need me"

Klaus sighs, obviously conflicted about his options.

"They are a pair of powerful witches" Dahlia continues "and Labonair twins. How rare is that?!"

~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~

Klaus and Dahlia are continuing to watch as 11th century Dahlia helps a weakened Freya back into their cottage. Once they are inside, present-day Dahlia begins to speak to him as she picks up one of the dead crows.

"Your children will need my guidance just as Freya did" she says.

"I think I'll find someone a little less hostile to teach them. Shouldn't be difficult...practically anyone will fit that criteria" Klaus says.

Dahlia strokes one of the crows' feathers.

"Will you be interviewing tutors while you lie desiccated?" Klaus' smirk is wiped from his face "How long, do you think, before Elijah and Rebekah release you? How old will Theodore and Hope be?"

"So, after twice failing to create a family of your own, now you wish to commandeer mine?" Dahlia gives him a confused look "Not going to happen, sweetheart"

"Family? Family only ever brought me pain. I want power. I am owed Hope's and Theodore's, and without it, I will slumber again within the year. Freya turned on me because I denied her a basic need...the love of a parent. That is why I need you, Niklaus, to remain their father" Dahlia says.

Klaus looks surprised at this admission, and when Dahlia turns to walk back into the woods, Klaus follows behind her.

"Try to imagine this...you will get to raise your children, and I will channel the magic that has been promised to me. And, in so doing, I would help Hope and Theodore to hone their craft that you couldn't possibly comprehend" Dahlia explains.

Klaus opens his mouth to speak, but he is speechless.

"With us by your side, no one would ever test you, ever again" Klaus seems to be seriously tempted by this offer "Or, you could lie there and pray that Elijah releases you before little Theo and Hope learns to call him or Jackson daddy"

She walks away from Klaus, leaving him burning in fury after her speech.

Would that really happen?

No...

Right?!

...St Louis Cathedral...

Freya is performing her locator spell on Theodore and Hope in the bell tower by using a large map, some herbs, and a large fire in a stone basin. After a moment, the flame burns out, and Freya frowns when she senses that Elijah is standing behind her.

"We're out of time. I have located Rosie, and I strongly advise you not attempt to stand in my way" Freya says.

She turns to push past Elijah, but he grabs the folded map out of her hands, causing her to stop and glare at him as he looks at the location on the map.

"Niklaus' paintings contain Mikael's ashes and the soil. Go to the compound" he says.

"You cannot stop me from getting those babies" Freya says.

"You begin the spell. Prepare the battlefield. I'll bring Rosie and the babies to you" he says.

Elijah brushes past her to leave the cathedral. As he leaves, Freya pauses before smiling a very small smile.

...The Bayou...

Elijah has arrived to the Bayou, where he is searching for Rosalind and the twins. He walks through the Woods for a few moments before he catches an arrow that was shot at him by one of the wolves before it can hit him. He drops the arrow and looks around for a moment before catching an axe that was thrown at him by another wolf. He holds it defensively as two werewolves, aiming two more arrows at Elijah, begin to approach him.

"Children, please"

He throws the axe aside, just as Jackson lunges at him from a nearby tree and punches Elijah so hard in the jaw that he falls to one knee before he returns to his feet. Jackson and Elijah both glare at each other for a long moment as several other werewolves surround Elijah and aim their bows at him.

"I'm here to see Rosie" Elijah says annoyed.

"Not gonna happen. One bite from us? There's venom in your veins. Hard to find anything in these woods when your head's not right right" Jackson clenched his jaw.

Jackson's face partially transforms with golden eyes and fangs as he lunges for Elijah yet again, but Elijah easily flips him onto his back, temporarily incapacitating Jackson until he can roll back onto his feet. Elijah sighs and is visibly unamused.

"Must we proceed with this nonsense? From what I understand, you didn't exactly fare well against my brother" Elijah says.

"Is that what you and Klaus always wanted, right?!" Jackson glares "for me to out of the picture so one of you can dedicate your immortality to Rosie"

Elijah glares at him.

"But you can't kill me" Jackson says "Rosie will never forgive you"

Rosalind approached them with Hope in her arms as Hayley holds Theodore.

"Elijah?" she asks confused before smiling "Elijah!"

She brings him to a tight hug.

After being 'kidnapped' she's been trying to speak with him and Klaus, but none of them was answering.

She was worried as hell.

Her eyes widened when she remembers the little baby in her arms.

"Oh god!" she exclaims "I'm sorry baby girl!" she examines Hope and only receives a giggle.

Elijah smiles affectionately as Jackson glares at him.

"You shouldn't be here" Hayley says.

Rosalind glares at her.

"He's not going anywhere before explaining everything to me" she says sternly and turns to the original "I woke up here and nobody told me what the hell happened"

He sighs and shares a look with Hayley and Jackson.

"Are you serious?" Rosalind raises her voice "So now what, you three are deciding mine's and the babies' lives? Didn't pass through your mind to consult me instead of snapping my neck?"

"Rosie..." Jackson tries but she glares at him.

"I get to decide this" she says and addresses them seriously "I told you all I'm not running away. We're defeating Dahlia and we're doing this in the right way!"

"You can't be serious" Hayley says incredulously.

"Oh but I am" Rosalind snaps "I've made my mind and don't intend to change it"

She turns around and catches Theodore in her arms too.

"Rosie!" Elijah calls out for her.

"Unless you want for me to disappear" she turns around and tightened her hold in the babies.

They all frowned in worry.

"Disappear?" Elijah asks.

"It is not what you guys were trying to do with me?!" she snaps "to take me away. So be it! But this time it's me and my children!"

She starts to walk away and only stops a little to say from over her shoulder.

"Do not test me!" she says in a deep threatening tone "If something like this happen again, I swear it'll be the last time you all will see and hear of me and the babies"

She walks back into the shack, leaving they behind, stunned.

"We have another plan. Rebekah and Davina found a way. If we can replicate the twins' magic, we can lure Dahlia into trap" Hayley nods in understanding "After which, I'll kill her myself"

Elijah, who has been glaring at the direction where Rosalind went with the babies.

"All we need is a vial of Theo's and Hope's blood" Elijah continues.

Hayley looks back at Jackson, who doesn't seem to like this plan, but after a moment, Hayley turns back to Elijah and nods again.

"I'll give you their blood. I'm trusting you, Elijah" Hayley says.

"And when we know Hope and Theo are safe, we can bring Rosie and the babies to where they belong...with family" Elijah says, still fearfully by Rosalind's threat.

Jackson becomes even more unhappy upon hearing this statement, and continues to glare at Elijah.

...Dahlia's Mind...

Dahlia is looking at a round stone in her hands as she and Klaus continue to talk.

"By all means, think it over. Though, know this...I shall not ask twice" she says.

"In my experience, an offer from a malevolent witch always comes with a catch. What's yours?" he asks suspiciously.

Dahlia sighs and hesitates for a long moment as she carefully chooses her words.

"Rosalind's love for her children is stronger than anything" she says "She will fight us. She will not relent. In order for us to succeed and live in peace, Rosalind will have to be eliminated"

Klaus glares at her as a single threatening growl erupt from his chest.

"How dare you!" he shouts.

That would never be an option.

Rosalind away from him? never.

Rosalind...dead? Bloody insane witch! Never and never.

Dahlia sighs. She knew how deep it was his love for Rosalind. Suggesting this was annoyingly hard.

"You would have me rob my children of their mother so they will grow to hate me?" Klaus growled.

"When they grow, you can tell them whatever story you like. But in the end, the truth is...you will have made the right choice for them" he glares at her "I'm sure you'll find another little thing to play with. No need to hold grudges"

Klaus looks even angrier at her propose, but before he can react, she blows a handful of dust into his face, which causes him to gasp for breath as he falls to the ground. Suddenly, his consciousness is magically returned to his body. The veins on his body begin to face as Klaus begins regaining color, as though he has just been fed blood. Once he's no longer desiccated, he is able to pull the dagger out of his own chest.

"Agh" he groaned in pain.

...Mikaelson Compound...

Freya is in the middle of the courtyard, where she is using a sage smudge-stick and Klaus' three paintings made of Norweigan soil and Viking ash to create a "battleground" for their impending confrontation with Dahlia. While she moves around the room and waves the smoking smudge-stick, she murmurs the incantation to the spell

"Drende moral associeres. Drende moral associeres" she chants.

Freya finishes her spell just as Elijah arrives, and she doesn't turn to face him right away.

"Once the spell has set, Dahlia won't be able to enter without being rendered mortal" Freya says.

She finally turns to face him, but is immediately upset to see he doesn't have Rosie and the babies with him.

"Where's Rosie and the children, Elijah?" she asks.

"If we use their power to lure Dahlia, swear to me that those babies will come to no harm" Elijah says in a dead serious tone.

"Dahlia won't get close enough to hurt Hope and Theodore. She will not be able to hurt any child ever again" Freya answers in the same tone.

Elijah quickly vamp-speeds toward her, grabs her by the hair, and uses a syringe to inject Freya in the neck.

"I do hope that is true. You are now the bait" Elijah says.

Freya, who has fallen to her knees, looks up at Elijah with terror in her eyes.

"What did you do to me?" she asks.

"The babies' blood is now in you, therefore Dahlia will now be hunting you. All we needed was a beating heart, and though I question the purity of your heart's intent, I hear it beating just fine" Elijah says.

Freya stands to her feet, clutching her beating neck and looking terrified.

"No! No! If Dahlia senses a ruse..." she shook her head.

"Rebekah assures me this will work, and I trust her far more than I trust you" Elijah says.

"I am not your enemy, Elijah!" Freya says panicking.

"We shall see. Proceed with your preparations" he says.

Elijah turns and leaves the compound, leaving a shaken Freya behind.

...The Bayou...

Rosalind was doting the babies as they played happily with their plushies. She was smiling seeing them interacting with each other.

Even during hard times like this, they were a beautiful light in her life and no one is going to take that away from her.

That was what her heart said, but fate always has another plans...

Sighing, she stands on her feet and takes her phone out of her purse, dialing Klaus' number at her phone. She frowns when she was met with his voicemail. There wasn't a time where he wouldn't pick up in the first ring.

"Hey Nik!" she starts in a low voice, hoping no one could hear "I have no idea why on earth you're not picking up my calls but, I just wanted to tell you that we're fine and waiting to see what are going to do about Dahlia..."

She runs her hands through her hair.

"I was dragged to the Bayou in an stupid attempt to protect me and the babies, but I know we're not safe until we kill this bitch" she continues "I trust that somewhere in your wicked mind you have a plan to end this and I'm waiting for you to tell me where should I go" she laughs softly "maybe we can buy a house beach and raise them close to the sea"

She looks down at the babies, paying attention at her message.

"Just call me, okay?" she says "we miss you. Bye!" she kneels in front of the babies again "do you wanna say 'bye' to your dad? Say 'bye bye. We miss you'"

The babies started to chuckle and babbling as they smile as soon as the call ends.

Hayley enters the room and smiles at them.

"What are you doing?" she asks curiously.

"I was just leaving a message to Nik" Rosalind shrugged and Hayley rolls her eyes at her "what?"

"You know what I think about it" Hayley says quietly.

Rosalind sighs angrily.

This was getting odd.

"Hayley, I love you" Rosalind says "but I want you to remember that Hope and Theo are my children"

Hayley raises an eyebrow.

"And I know exactly what I should or shouldn't be doing" she says "I'd never drag them into some sort of danger, which is exactly what will happen if we run away. Can you understand that?"

The brunette looks away from her sister.

Rosalind walks over her.

"This is my choice" Rosalind says "you and Jackson are mine's and the babies' family..." she sighs "...and so are Elijah, Rebekah, Freya and Nik of course. He's the father, I can't just disappear with our children as if he doesn't exist. What kind of a mother would I be?!"

Hayley looks down at her feet. Of course she understands what Rosalind was saying, but a part of her was deeply scared of what could possibly happen to her sister and her niece and nephew.

She wipes a single tear that fell from her eyes and excuses herself, leaving the blonde alone in her thoughts, a little disappointed though.

Suddenly Jackson appears, catching some things and preparing it so they could leave after Aiden's funeral.

"Jack!" Rosalind scolds him with her arms crossed.

"Don't look at me like that" he says "it's way passed the time where you could just pretend that the Mikaelsons didn't ruin your life"

She gasps incredulously.

"Excuse me?" she says "Ruined my life? Are you insane?"

"Well, it's the truth" he snaps.

"So, you're basically saying that my children are mistakes?" she says in a deep and low tone, glaring at him.

"Of course not" he defends himself.

"It's exactly what you're saying!" she exclaims and when he went to approach the twins, she steps in front of them protectively "Don't even think about it!"

He raises an eyebrow in disbelief.

"Do you think I'd hurt them?" he scoffs.

"I don't know, right?" she snaps "you do believe that they ruined me"

He looks stunned at her declaration, as she continues to stands in front of Hope and Theodore.

Outside the room, Hayley was leaving a voicemail to Elijah, knowing he was as worried as she was about Rosalind.

"Elijah. It's Hayley" she says quietly "I just wanted to tell you that I can let your family ruin my sister's story. I hope you understand that"

...Mikaelson Compound...

Elijah and Rebekah at the compound. Unbeknownst to anyone, Klaus is standing in the next room, listening as Elijah plays Rebekah the voicemail on speaker.

...The Bayou...

As Hayley was about to continue, she hears her sister and Jackson's argument. Lowering her phone, she presses to end the voicemail which she believed it did, but in the reality...

"You two have to stop acting like I'm not here!" Rosalind argues, trying to control her voice so she doesn't scare the babies.

"That's what family means, Rosie" Jackson says.

"A true family also respect each other's decisions!" she snaps.

Hayley decides to intervene, holding her phone.

"That's not an option anymore!" she says.

"Did you not hear me before?" Rosalind asks incredulously.

...Mikaelson Compound...

The three of them continues to listen to the voicemail, Klaus still hiding in the shadows.

"I'm tired of everyone trying to play with me as I'm some stupid doll" they hear Rosalind's voice "I know what's best for my children and if my decisions cannot be respected..."

The two siblings share a worried glance as Klaus gritted his teeth.

Please don't say it...

Please...

He pleaded with everything he had for her not to say what he was thinking she would.

"I guess this is a goodbye then" she finishes her sentence, breaking all of their hearts.

Elijah and Rebekah are standing in the study, both looking devastated as they hear Hayley's accidental voicemail. Behind them, Klaus sneaks up and listens in from the hallway, becoming more and more angry the more of the message he hears.

No!

No!

She wasn't going to leave him!

It can't be!

He clenched his jaw in fury.

After everything she said to him, every promise...was she lying?

He gave her his heart and soul...

It was just a game for her?

She was running away and taking their babies with her.

A rush of deep rage took full control of his body at all this thoughts that came into his mind.

As Klaus is burning in fury and pain, Elijah is near tears, and looks as though someone has just punched him in the stomach. Rebekah looks sad with tears running down her cheeks, and hesitates for a moment before speaking..

"Hayley is right! You know..." Rebekah starts quietly "...maybe it's for the best that Rosie run as fast as she can from here"

Elijah sadly turns off his cell phone, while Klaus, now furious, leaves the compound.

Oh no...

...Lafayette Cemetery...

Dahlia is still in the tomb, where she is continuing to rub her fingers with the blood in a stone cauldron. After a moment, a still-weakened Klaus stumbles through the cemetery until he makes it to Dahlia's hideout.

"I knew you were the smartest of your siblings. There's no brute Viking blood in those veins. I'm glad to see you made the right decision" she smiles.

"I never really cared for Rosalind" Now this was the biggest lie he has ever told, but what he heard clouded all his reasonable side, of course "But, you should know, the rest of my family will stand against us in defense of her"

He was trying to ease this immense pain he was feeling in his heart.

Oh boy...he didn't even think about the consequences.

He will hate himself later for this? Probably.

"We will have to go through them. Are you prepared for that?" she asks.

Klaus, still pale with desiccation, limps toward her, glaring angrily.

"They have more than earned everything that is to come" he says.

He kneels down across from Dahlia, with the table she's working on sitting between them.

"We need to hurry. Even now, Rosalind is attempting to flee with my children" Klaus says trying to ignore the twist in his stomach "she will disappear with them"

Dahlia laughs and rubs her bloody fingers together before grabbing a bundle of what looks like lavender, which she uses to stir the bowl of blood.

"Hm, don't worry. She won't get far tonight" Dahlia says.

...The Bayou...

Rosalind, Jackson and Hayley are still arguing with each other when suddenly, a large crack of thunder and lightning rumbles overhead. The sound frightens the twins, and they start to cry.

The blonde takes they both in her arms and rocks them, soothing their back.

"Shhhh!" she whispers "It's okay!"

...Lafayette Cemetery...

At the cemetery, Dahlia has finished stirring the blood, which is now reflecting the sky of the Bayou in the bowl. Dahlia and Klaus both look inside it and watch as the weather becomes more and more intense. Dahlia blows into the bowl, which causes a storm to begin in the Bayou. Klaus is visibly impressed by Dahlia's magic, and when she smiles happily at him, he returns the smiles.
