In this story woman were able to join the military the whole time, because it's a fan fic. And this is a simplified version of Bucky and Steves story in the MCU. This isn't good by the way
1942
TONI POV:
"I don't want you to go." Cheryl whispers. I look down at her. "Cher, you know I have no choice." She looks at me. "When do you leave?" She ask quietly. "Tomorrow morning." I say quietly. I look at Cheryl. "How does Sergeant Antoinette Topaz sound?" I ask her. She smiles. "It shouldn't be you." I nod. "Yeah, but it is, I know you want to go to war for some reason but it's ok. I'll be ok." I whisper. "Come here." I say pulling her into a hug. "I'll see you in a minute." She nods. I do everything in my willpower not to kiss her. "I'll see you." I nod. I look at her and leave.
CHERYL POV:
"Cheryl Blossom?" I turn around and see a woman in a doctor coat. "Heard you wanted to join the army but can't." She says quietly. I look at her. "Yeah." I say quietly. "I think we can help you." She says smiling. "My Name is Dr. Mary Andrews, I work for SHIELD. We're working on a super soldier program! Which will make you stronger and more powerful and hopefully taller." She says looking at me.
I walk into the room where a bunch of scientists are. There's a big Machine that will probably be how I get injected with the super serum. Dr. Andrews walks over to me. "Can I see Toni after this?" I ask her. "Who?" She ask. "Sergeant Antoinette Topaz?" I ask. "Oh, she died after being kidnapped." I look at her, my heart drops. "Well, she's still technically missing in action but it's been long enough for her to be presumed dead." She elaborates. "You ready?" She ask quietly. "Yeah." I nod. I take off my shirt and pants. I walk into the big machine. They close it on me and it starts up. I take a deep breath as I feel the needles inject the serum in me. I groan loudly as I feel the transformation happened. The machine opens and I fall to the ground. I can feel my strength as I catch myself. I look down at my arms and I feel like I'm in a different body! "How do you feel Private?" I look up. "Like I'm in a different body." I whisper. "Because you are." I take a deep breath. "What's my first mission?" I ask quietly. My Sergeant comes over. "This is the facility that your friends Topaz got kidnapped in, more people were taken and we need you and few other people to go and get them before we have the same mistake." He tells me. I nod. "We need to get you some protection still. You're not bullet proof." I nod. "Ok." I say quietly.
I walk into the large room that they make and fix weapons for the army that's based in England. Hiram Lodge walks over to me. "How are you today?" He ask quietly. "Good." We shake hands. "Strong grip." I let go a little. "I'm sorry, I'm still getting used to my strength, I almost broke the door because I'm used to having to really pull on doors so I ended up swinging it open." I tell him. "It's ok!" He says smiling. "I was told I need protection, are you going to make everything bullet proof?" I ask quietly. "Yes, but I made you a shield." He says showing me. "It's made of Vibranium, it's the strongest metal on earth." He says handing it to me. I take a deep breath. "This is too much responsibility." I say holding the shield. "Yeah, but
We all run into the building. I block a bullet with my sheild. "Nice try." I smile. We fight our way through the building. I hear groaning from one room. I walk into that room and see Toni handcuffed to a metal bed. "Toni!" I go over to her. I get her out of the handcuffs. "Cher..." I look at her. "I thought you were dead!" I whisper. "I thought you were smaller." She says quietly. "Wow you're stronger and taller." Toni says quietly. I hold back the urge not to kiss her. She looks at me. "Yeah!" I smile. "You look good!" She says slowly getting up. "There's more people! I don't know where but there's more of my troupes. They're being held captive!" She says frantically. "I know! That's what mine our doing." I look at her. "Is this permit?" She ask quietly. "Hopefully." I say putting her arm over my shoulder. "Did this hurt?" I nod. "It was a bunch of needles going into me, what do you think?" She smiles. We hear an explosion. "Come on!" I say quietly. "I think I can walk on my own." She says quietly. She stands up and we walk away from the explosion. We hear more and more. "We should go!" I say. We quickly run out and see a few of that were held captive, plus the troupes I took. "How do we get back?" Toni ask. "On foot." I smile. "Damn Cher, do you really think we can?" Toni ask quietly. "Do we have any other choice?" She smiles. "Guess you're right. Let's roll out!" We all go back to the base it'll definitely take us hours. "What's with the shield?" Toni ask quietly. "I don't know. Everyone thought it was a good idea. It was." I say quietly. I look at her. She pats my back and smiles.
We all walk up to the base. Sergeant Andrews comes over to us. "You're late!" He says pissed. "My walkie-talkie broke sir!" I say handing it to him. He looks at all of us. "We have another mission for you. Maybe you and Sergeant Topaz can do this one together like a happy family. You'll need it." He says quietly. I look at Toni. "Come on I'll brief you." We go with him and go to a tent. "There's a Hydra base in Norwich that is holding all their weapons. Well, the deadly ones. I need you guys to go and stop it, you'll go out tomorrow!" I look at Toni. "We can do that." He smiles. "Good, you have no choice!" I take a deep breath.
"Who thought I would be following you of all people into battle?" Toni ask as I sit down. I look at her. "I was always hoping it would be." I joke. She looks at me. "I hate you." I nod. "Thanks Toni." She looks down. "Should I trust you Cher?" She ask quietly. "I really thought you were dead." I say quietly. "I'm not going anywhere." She says quietly. "Well, I'll be where ever you are." I look at her. "Thanks." She smiles. "Anytime."
I hold my shield up as it gets shot at. I throw at the guy and catch it mid air. We all run into the Facility and see all the weapons. "Wow." I whisper. We hear footsteps and see Hiram Lodge. "My own super soldier! How good of you to finally show up!" I look at him. "No one was supposed to survive!" We fight for a while. Until he pulls out a grenade. "This blows up the whole place including us!" He says smiling. "I would run." He says quietly. "I can do this all day." Toni says quietly. "No!" I yell as Toni runs over to Hiram, he pulls the grenade. It blows up which knocks me back. "Toni!" I scream. The whole place starts to blow up so I quickly run out.
70 years later
I look at the picture of Toni. It's been 70 years, because of the serum I never aged. Well I did just barely. I was 20 when in the army now I look like I'm in my 30's. I stopped fighting after Toni died. It was too much. I couldn't deal with it. I hear a knock on the door of my apartment. Sometimes I work for Shield when they need me to save the world so this is probably Betty knocking on my door. I open the door and it's her. "What can I do for you Ma'am?" I ask quietly. "Come with me and find out." She says quietly. I walk out with her and we go to headquarters. She pulls out a file. "They call her the Winter Soldier. Every couple of years she shows up. We need you to take her down." Betty explains showing me a picture. I take a deep breath. "Right now?" I ask her. "Pretty much yeah! She's in Washington D.C on a killing spree." She tells me. "Get suited up." She says quietly. I nod. "Yes Ma'am." I walk out and get suited up. I get into the plane and we fly to Washington. We land and she's already there ready to kill. I hear an explosion and the plane blows up. I look at The Winter Soldier as she comes closer. She's wearing a mask and goggles to cover her identity. I punch her and she punches back. We go back and forth until I block her arm with my hand. Her arm is metal. I look at her. "Wow." I say shocked. She punches me one last time. I get a few punches in and take off her mask. She looks at me. "Toni?" I ask in shock. "Who the hell is Toni?" She ask quietly. "You!" I say quietly. She punches me. "Your name is Antoinette Jane Topaz! You grew up in Riverdale, New York. Your mother was Jane Natalie Topaz and your father was Antonio James Topaz! You were born March 13th 1921, you were drafted into the Army when you turned 21! Before that you worked at Pop's with me!" I tell her. She looks at me. I watching things start to click in her head. She pulls her gun out. I hold my shield and block the guns shots. I run towards her and bring her to ground. "I'm not going to fight you Toni." I tell her. "You're my best friend." She gets on top of me and punches me repeatedly. "I'm, not, going to, hurt, you!" I say between punches. "I can't." I say quietly. She punches me again. "I won't." She punches me a few more times while I slip in and out of consciousness. I feel her stop and drop to the ground next to me. I look over and see her getting put in handcuffs. A van pulls up and we all get in. I look at Toni who's been put in a glass prison pod. We get back to HQ. They put her a big room alone while she's still in the pod. "That was easier then it should have been." Betty says quietly. I nod. "What did you say to her?" She ask quietly. "I reminded her who she was. It threw her off enough for you to immobilize her." We look at Toni and she's jolting around in her restraints. "Let me out!" She yells. I look away and hold back tears. "She killed my parents." Betty says. I look at her. "It clearly wasn't up to her." She says quietly. "She's clearly been brainwashed." She say looking at Toni. "I should talk to her." I say quietly. "I might be able to get through to her. Just enough to figure out what's happening." I whisper. I motion to guard and they let me in. I look at Toni. "Toni..." I whisper. "Let me out!" She yells. I can see the rage in her eyes. "Not until you tell me what happened and who sent you here!" I tell her. She slowly calms down. "How do I know you?" She ask quietly. "We grew up together." I tell her. "Do you know what name is and our history?" I ask her. "Your name is Cheryl Blossom. You have a twin brother named Jason Blossom. You're mom would always make us grilled cheeses with tomato soup. Well for you, but she would always make me chicken noodle soup because I'm allergic to pesto." She says smiling a bit. I look at her. "You would always come over for breakfast and you'd finish whatever homework I forgot to do." She tells me. I nod and leave the room. "How is that proof she's your friend?" Betty ask quietly. "Only Toni would have that information. Well, she's the only person alive, you would have would have that information." I tell her. She looks at me. "She wouldn't have that information knowing I'm alive and not try to come for me!" I say quietly.
I look at Toni. "There are words they use for me to reset my mind." She tells me. Betty writes that down. "Who?" I ask Toni. "Hiram Lodge." She says quietly. "I was told his daughter was on the plane once you and Betty got off that's when I would detonate the bomb which I did." She explains. "She wasn't on the plane." I tell her. She sighs in relief. "Was anyone?" She ask quietly. "No, the pilot got off before it went off." I tell her. "Good." She smiles a little. "Why did you attack us if we weren't who you were looking for?" I ask quietly. "I have to kill anyone who witnessed anything like that." She tells us. "I'm sorry Cher." I take a deep breath. "I need some air." I whisper getting up and walking out. "Cheryl!" Betty comes after me. I try to catch my breath and calm myself. "Cheryl? What's wrong?" She ask quietly. "She haven't heard her call me that in years." I whisper. "You know, I never has a chance to tell her what she meant to me! Anytime I wanted to, we'd find a reason not too. Didn't hell that we grew up in the 1930's. I wasn't able to be myself. I waited for her, I thought I'd never see her again." I explain. "She's the only person who calls me that." I whispers. "Not even her being the only person alive, she was the only person who ever called me that." I whisper. "I think we need to stop for today, I need to get some rest. We've been at this all day, it's almost 2 in the morning." I say quietly. "We all need some rest." I whisper. "I know someone who can do about the whole trigger words thing." I look at her. "I know someone in Wakanda who can help." She says quietly. "We can send her their tomorrow afternoon." She tells me. I look at her.
"Cher-." I interrupt Toni. "I love you." She looks at me. "Um... wh-." Betty comes over with a woman. "Hello, I'm Shuri." The woman says smiling. "Antoinette." Toni says reaching her hand out. "We can upgrade that arm for you." Shuri says quietly. Toni looks at it. "Can you make it less deadly?" She ask quietly. "We can figure something out."
TONI POV:
I look at Shuri who's taking my arm off. She looks at me. "What's wrong Sergeant Topaz?" She ask quietly. "You can call me Toni." She smiles. "Ok Toni, what's wrong?" She ask again. "How do you know if you love someone?" I ask her. "Cheryl?" She ask quietly. "How do you know?"I ask her confused. "That woman is the gayest woman I've ever me." She says quietly. "Also you scream bisexual." She says smiling. "What's that?" I ask confused. "Bisexual?" I nod. "It means you like men and woman romantically." I nod. "You can do that?" I ask quietly. "Yeah." She nods looking at her board. "What is that?" I ask quietly. "This?" She ask motioning to the board. I nod. "A computer." She says quietly. I look at it. "What's that?" I ask. "It tells me information." She says quietly. "Like your heart rate and stuff like that. You don't know this? You're like 100 years old." She says quietly. "Yeah but I was busy killing people." I say quietly. "What do you want me to do with this?" She ask holding my arm. "Burn it." I say sitting back. She nods. "I'll see what I can do." I nod. "So how are you going to get these triggers out of my head?" I ask her. "It's hard to explain but essentially we're going to unscramble your brain because clearly your memories are all messed up." I take a deep breath. "I'm sorry Toni." I shake my head. "It's ok." I whisper. "Have you done this before?" I ask quietly. "No, but I after talking to you and talking to your friend Betty-." I interrupt Shuri. "I'm not friends with Betty! I can't, she probably hates me and is just doing her job." I whisper. "She doesn't. She understands you were under mind control, she knows you didn't willingly do what you did." She tells me. I look at her. "I remember them all. I remember every person I've killed." I explain. "Not including when I was in the army. I don't remember exactly." She nods. "Is there anyway you can make me forget I did any of that?" I ask her. "No. I'm not wiping your mind. I'm sorry." I look down. "The best we can do is help you get through it." I nod. "Could I if I wanted to just not have an arm anymore?" I ask quietly. "Do you want that?" She ask quietly. "I don't know." She smiles. "I'll give you an arm but I'll make it so you can take it off." I nod. "I like it here." I say quietly. "How expensive is it to live here?" I ask. She shrugs. "Depends how much money do you have to your name?" She ask me. "I don't know."
CHERYL POV:
I look at Shuri. "How's Toni?" She hands me a tablet with all Toni's information on it. "She's depressed." She says quietly. "She's now allowed to have a mind of her own and she doesn't know what to do with that because she hasn't had that privilege in 70 years!" She explains. "Where is she?" I ask concerned. "She's in the barn moving some hay." I look at her. "How is that helpful?" I ask quietly. "It helps her get her mind off things. And she was injected with the same this as you just not as strong." I look at Shuri. "Super serum?" She nods. "Yeah. When she was in the Hydra facility they were experimenting on the prisoners, Toni was the only one to survive because they put less of their version of it in her." She explains as we go to the barn where Toni is. "What's in the briefcase?" I ask Shuri. "Her new arm. Well hopefully. We've been trying new ones. This is our 5th today." She says. "Toni's always been picky about stuff." We go into the barn. Toni sees me. "Long time no see Cher." She smiles. "How are you?" I ask quietly. "Better now that you're here." She says quietly. I smile. "You?" She ask quietly. "I'm- I'm ok." I say nervously. She nods. "Good." We both look away awkwardly. "How's-how's how's Betty?" She ask quietly. "I don't know, I haven't talked to her in a while. She's not really on this case anymore." I tell her. She sighs clearly distraught about it. "Not because you did what you did to her parents, she knows what was going on." I say quietly. She looks at me. "She had another case since I had this under control. Well, Shuri does." I smile. "Why are you here?" She ask quietly. "I'm not fighting again." She says. "No! I just came to check on you." I tell her. She nods. "Good." She whispers. "I don't want to hurt anyone ever again." She says quietly.
"Why did you say that?" Toni ask quietly. "Say what?" I ask her. "That you loved me." She says looking at the small pound. "I waited to long to tell you and if this rehab doesn't work I might not be able to tell you again." I whisper. She looks down. "There were so many times when we were growing up that I wanted to kiss you but I couldn't." She says quietly. I can hear the heartbreak in her voice. I look at her. "I'm sorry for trying to kill you." She says quietly. I look at her. "Don't be." I whisper. "I was your mission." I tell her. "It's ok." I reassure her. She looks at me. "Can I ask you something?" I nod. "When did my parents die?" She ask quietly. I look down. "Your mom died in 1987 from old age, your dad died in 1995 from a stroke." She takes a deep breath. "What about my Grandparents?" She ask me. "I don't know." I whisper. "Your parents never told me." She nods. "Did you stay close with them?" She ask quietly. "I wasn't close with them but I would see them every once in a while since our parents were friends." I tell her. "It was too hard after I thought you died." I say sadly. "Did they have any other kids?" I shake my head. "No, it was just you. They got a dog though!" She looks at me. "He was cute." I whisper. She smiles a little. "Don't ask me his name I honestly can't remember it was 60 years ago." We both laugh. I look at her. "Do you like the arm?" I ask quietly. She looks at it. "Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the purple though." She says quietly. "It was this or gold." She adds. I smile. "It couldn't have been made to look like an actual arm?" She shakes her head. "No." She says quietly. "It's ok though! I really don't care." She smiles. "As long as I don't have to fight ever again in my life, I'm good! Unless it's self defense or something." She tells me. I nod. She looks at me. "I really want to kiss you." She whispers. "So do it." I whisper. She pulls me into a kiss, I cup her cheek and deepen it. "I've waited forever for that." I say quietly. "Yeah! Like 90 something years!" She says quietly. "Why didn't you find someone else?" She ask quietly. "I knew I would out live them. I couldn't do that to myself and I think part of me knew you were still alive." I explain. "Cheryl, you know I can't be in a relationship right now." I nod. "I know. I'm not asking you to be." She nods. "I'm gonna go back to getting work done." She says getting up. "I'll see you in a minute."
