Wedding altars were weird.

Whenever I had gone to a wedding, I wondered how a bride and groom could say their vows so openly, like no one else was watching them.

But now, I knew it was like a different dimension in here. It was just two people, openly speaking. It was easy to get lost in your partner's eyes.

It was beautiful.

Dylan stood across from me. He had his usual carefree smile on, meeting my eyes every once in a while. After clearing his throat, he began his vows.

"When I saw your cute little blond head walking into school, I knew you were something special. I didn't know it at the time, but you were just what I needed."

I glanced over at my parents sitting in the front aisle. My mom was grinning at us, while my dad looked like he wanted to cry tears of happiness. I resisted an eye roll and focused on the man in front of me again.

"I hate that we wasted so much time in high school. Imagine what we could've been if I had just manned up and asked you out. Then again, I was practically STDs on legs, so I don't think you would've taken me seriously."

I choked out a laugh as I got teary-eyed. Damn it! I had promised myself I wouldn't cry.

"We shared so many beautiful moments without even realizing it at the time–Bella! No, don't cry!"

I laughed as I swiped the tears away. "I'm sorry! It's just... so perfect! Emma's going to love them!" It was the most romantic I'd ever heard Dylan, and it made it even more special that he was directing these words to his future wife.

Dylan Woods was actually getting married.

"Well she's more emotional than you, so I hope so," Dylan grinned, a spark in his eye whenever we mentioned his fiancée. "Okay, I think I have these memorized by now. I'll practice a few more times before tonight."

Becoming overly emotional, I pulled him into a tight hug. He chuckled as his arms automatically wrapped around me. At this point, I'm pretty sure it was instinct for him.

We hugged a lot.

"Hey, is it just me or is your dad totally imagining us getting married right now?" he mumbled into my ear.

I nodded, pulling away. "Right? I think we just put the image into his brain."

"He better not object at the wedding."

I snickered. My dad totally would if he thought I had any chance with Dylan. "Don't worry, I already told the minister to skip that part."

"I knew there was a reason I hired you."

I cocked my head in pretend innocence. "It wasn't because of my credibility as a wedding planner? Or because I've been your best friend for, like, fifteen years?"

He shoved me with his shoulder. "Still cocky as ever, hm?"

"Hah," I sarcastically laughed. We both made our way down to my parents. My dad wouldn't stop beaming at us, while my mom was rolling her eyes at him. "Dad, you know I'm not the one getting married, right?"

My mom snorted and quickly covered her mouth.

"Ary, at this rate, you'll never get married," my dad said a little grumpily.

I resisted the urge to scowl. My parents didn't know it yet, but I had recently broken up with my boyfriend, Chris. He was some hotshot, sexy businessman from New York. We dated for almost a year, straight out of college. I had actually planned his best friend's wedding. He caught me at the reception and flirted until I gave him my number. It was sweet.
