After school that day, I didn't go for lunch and went straight to Sharik's dorm so we could talk. His roommate was out.
"I've been working my brain, hopelessly trying to guess what that crazy ass coach might ask us to do to prove ourselves," Sharik said with a sigh.
"Same."
"Asked a few classmates but they say that man loves to improvise. You can never tell what he'll give. But most of the time, the training students go through is hell,"he said with a frown.
"How is all of this even legal?" I shook my head.
"It is though. We abide by Thionnese laws here. And mostly importantly, this is the only Thionnese school in the human world that deals with the training and discovery of Sphinixes."
I sighed and rubbed my temples. I didn't like it at all.
"We're not even Sphinixes!" I complained.
"But we are kinda powerful, Marji," Sharik pointed. "Every fucking time, it's like we acquire new gifts. And most of the time, it's during stressful or fearful situations. It's only normal that we have to be tested to know if we're Sphinixes. You heard what he said in the cafeteria. He'll have us in a difficult and realistic situation that'll definitely be stressful. Who knows? We might discover more gifts."
