Chapter 63 - A New Army

Amidst the conflict up North, a thousand strong soldiers of the Archesian Royal Guards are undertaking a six-month-long training program under the supervision of the Royal Cardonian Army. And today marks the first week wherein the soldiers started their "schooling", they are on one of the largest army camps in Cardonia. And to mark the achievement of Archesian forces, they are conducting a marching drill in front of their very own Princess. The Cardonia instructors remarked the Archesians as very fast learners, within a week, they've mastered basic marches and salutes.

Armed with refurbished Mausers and Revolvers they've presented their new-found skills.

"Left, right, left, right, left-right"

"Face to the right! SALUTE!"

"HAH!" shouted the soldiers as they take formation in front of the large audience of Archesian Princess and her officials and members of the Cardonian Ministry of Defence. The media is also covering the historic moment. For the local Cardonians, it is like they are seeing their old army before World War Two. The Archesians are sporting an iron cast helmet and two-toned modernized trench clothes specifically tailored for them.

On the sidelines were top Azalean military officials observing the event "closely".

Besides the regular infantry, the artillerymen are already conducting familiarization on the mortar and field gun systems that they bought from Cardonia.

"LONG LIVE THE PRINCESS!"

"LONG LIVE ARCHESIA!"

The soldiers chanted as they gave a firm salute to their Princess.

Princess Jahleel replied with a firm salute, "Cardonian style" which is basically a British way of saluting with the palm facing outward. But this new salute very far from their traditional way of saluting by placing their fist on their chest.

After the greeting ceremony, the Archesian troops presented a run and gun of their 'new' Mausers.

*BANG* *BANG*

An eight-man squad unleashed all five rounds of 7.62mm NATO from it's purposely made clip. Cardonian K98k rifles were refurbished and rebarrelled during the early '60s, although not part of NATO the new service rifle in the form of the FN FAL sports such round and with the thousands of K98k's Cardonia possesses they standardize the ammunition. 

The Archesian army is also being reworked from the ground up. The introduction of small squads and platoons would mean a lot of organizational changes, but top officials were going with it as they saw how effective Cardonia is.

The soldiers that have been embedded on Cardonian troops in the North were observing such doctrines and they've provided additional positive remarks on how effective these small squads operate in a real battlefield.

Also quietly observing from the sidelines are members of the Azalean Armed Forces. They were quite impressed by how the Archesians adopted this new bolt action rifles, where they also use the same concept on their regular firearms.

Everyone was then shocked when a small squad or Archesian Guards suddenly popped up from the fields. And they were sporting a new different gun, it was a shorter gun with a very peculiar black stick sticking out on its side.

The audience watched curiously as these men lined up on the firing range, taking careful aim.

Then.

They fired, but this time, it's a continuous set of fire. Everyone was then surprised as the Archesians were using guns that can fire as fast as the Cardonian ones. The Azalean observers were also keen on the weapon as it looks similar to one of their infamous weapon project.
