Chapter 55 - Fleet of Airships

Two SU-30 fighters from the 13th Interceptor Squadron took off from Valencian Air Base and are headed straight towards the large Azalean fleet of airships 'sailing' above the border mountains of Archesia and Timone.

The Azaleans have sent this massive fleet to formally start open trade with Cardonia, based on their reports submitted to the Cardonian officials, more than half of their airships that they are bringing are freighters while the rest are "warships" providing security for the transports.

What is more, the renowned Azalean Princess would be aboard one of their latest and most powerful class of airships. And will provide third party negotiations between Cardonia and Dylasla, Azalea is pushing for a more peaceful resolution to a bloody battle between the two.

The most eastern ground based air search radar then began to detect the Azalean fleet.

The radar screen were then filled with lots of dots, implying that the Azaleans brought a large fleet of airships.

Devant is the first ship of a new class of airships that the Azaleans are fielding. They are twice as large and powerful conpared to their previous large airhips. She is currently the flagship of the Azalean Diplomatic Fleet, aboard her is Princess Penelope Antolea, fourth in line on the Azalean throne.

She was enjoying her breakfast tea when the lookouts shouted they've spotted something.

Only a few of Cardonian assets are equipped with a bulky magic communicator, thus the fighters are not capable to communicate with the Azalean fleet.

Two SU-30 MKC's leave a straight line of white contrails on the clear skies above, giving their position on the get go. Thole Azalean fleet were thrown into a frenzy as they saw this mysterious flying objects steadily cruised from an inpossible altitude.

The Princess then joined the lookouts on top of the airship for a better view, it is not the most comfortable and safest spot on the airship as the lookout post were located on the very top of the airship, above the large greyish large oblong balloon. 

Her assistants and bodyguards pleaded the adventurous Princess to get back down. But she didn't flinch.

Her and three other Azalean 'sailors' observes the fighter jets passed above them and turned around while continuously decreasing in altitude.

Moments later, they are already tailing the last ship of the convoy, and that is when they've only realized that they were Cardonian planes.

*CARDONIANS! HOLD YOUR FIRE! IT'S CARDONIA!*

The announcement echoed from the magic communicators of all the Azalean airships.

They are flying in a snail pace of 100 knots, as such withi seconds, the fighters goes through the whole fleet and passed nearby the flagship.

The thundering roar of their engines left hundreds of Azaleans bewildered. They've never saw such a thing that flies so fast and majestic at the same time.

The aircrafts turned around and zoomed near the Azalean flagship, this time they performed an unexpected Pugachev's Cobra maneuver, the planes as if were imitating how a cobra moves. This is one of the reasons besides being cheap to purchase, that the former Crown Prince pushed hardly for the purchase of such aircrafts, he lobbied the Air Force so hard that they ended up with the Sukhois rather than their previous choice, the F-18. Unfortunately, he was not see the aircrafts in Cardonian livery before he died.

A lot of Cardonia's Russian equipment could be linked towards the former Prince, when the USSR collapsed in 1991 he immediately lobbied the Army to buy Russian stocks of hundreds of T-72's, using Russian debts to Cardonia to pay for it, the Army were left with no choice but to accept the Russian tanks. Since then the Prince were buying Russian equipments albeit in token numbers, except the Sukhoi's, this ranges from ballistic missiles, APC's, naval equipment, RPG's and some rifles.
