(Uber sad...maybe..)

You paced in the living room, waiting for a certain Prussian. It felt like ages, yet only just a few years since he went to war. Your dearest soldier, Gilbert Beilschmidt, went to fight for his beloved people at an intense battle. He made a promise to come back, to see you, to hold you close to him, to tell you how awesome he fought his enemies, to tell you how much he loved you.

But it was shocking, really.

A knock on the door startled you as you stopped pacing. You rushed to the door, hoping that it was Gilbert, but a certain man unbeknownst to you showed up. "Are you Gilbert Beilschmidt's-"

"What happened to him?" You cut him off, waiting for an answer. The man stared at you, a depressed expression clearly plastered on his scarred face. He slowly shook his head, and you broke down. He handed you a letter, which was written Gilbert Beilschmidt behind it and a small black box. "I'm sorry," with that being said, he left.

To mein dearest ____,

If you are reading this right at this moment, then you will know that it is the fall of the awesome me. Mein country will be abolished because of this failure. I've brought shame to mein own country. Just so you know, _____, I'll still be watching over you from here with Old Fritz. I love you just as much as the old man, and I'll protect mein awesome liebe. Please don't mourn over my death with bruder. I beg you not to go committing suicide. Besides, I'm too awesome for history. I'm not forgetting something, am I? In this box you will find something so awesome- not as awesome as the awesome me, isn't that right?- you can't deny it.

Ich liebe dich, _____ _____.

Your awesome Gilbert.

In the said box was a silver ring, shining as bright as can be with a diamond on top of it. Tears never stopped flowing down your cheeks. You clamped your mouth with both your hands, dropping the letter on the floor as well as the small box.

"Frau!"

A knock on the door startled you. You found yourself lying on your bed, the one you shared with Gilbert. You went downstairs, opening the door. "Yes-" you cut yourself off as you stared at the man in front of you. He was in a kneeling position, holding a bunch of purple hyacinths.

"Zhe awesome me came back home for you," he smirked, his face covered with two or three scars while his forehead was bandaged . He was still in his army clothes, though it was dirty from the mud during the war. You gasped, trying to suppress your emotions, which was a combination of shock and happiness. What happened before was just a dream, and you were too grateful for that.

"Don't you want to give zhe awesome me a hug?" his arms opened wide and you hugged him with so much force while he showered you with lots of kisses.

But little did you know that one of his hands was slowly fading.
