The following years. Niklaus and Cassius grow up. Halata ang pagkaiba ng dalawa. Niklaus grow up as strong and brave while Cassius grow up as a sheltered man. Niklaus went to a hunting but Cassius is just staying in his room, reading books and writing.
Nakatingin si Vesper sa anak na nag-aaral sa mga tinuturo niya. Niklaus followed his mother but he has a huge interest in outside life. The exact opposite of Cassius.
Vesper's tears flowed non-stop. She doesn't want to do this but she had already decided. She's leaving her son in the hands of cruel Ambrogio V. Napanatag na siya na sa mga bagay na naituro niya sa dalawa. She's fine with it. Ang mga naituro niya ay naisabuhay na ng dalawa, only that the eldest is influenced by their father but she can tell, he isnt as cruel as Ambrogio V.
When the night comes. After the dinner they had ay inihatid pa ni Vesper si Cassius sa kwarto nito. Ambrogio V didn't bother dahil nasa panganay na ang lahat ng atensyon nito kaya nagkaroon ng malaking pag-asa si Vesper na makatakas.
"Royal mother, you really want to go?", tanong ni Cassius.
"Yes, I have to find my brother. Can you distract the death dealers for me?", Vesper said as they silently went down the stairs.
Tumango si Cassius at hindi na nagsalita. He guided his mother down. Naghiwalay sila ng daan ng nasa baba na si Cassius.
"I saw strigoi in that direction. Hurry! Hunt and kill it!", sigaw ni Cassius sa mga death dealers na naroon bago niya pinalabas si Vesper sa kabilang daan. Sa likorang bahagi ng palasyo.
Vesper run fast para makalayo na sa palasyo. Kasakuyang nasa masukal na gubat na siya ngayon. She doesn't have any idea where she is. Wala din siyang alam sa kung nasaan si Bonvich kaya ang ginawa niya lang ay tumakbo ng tumakbo.
Lingid sa kaalaman ni Ambrogio V ang nangyari. Ang naabutan niya lang ay ang mga death dealers na nagkakagulo sa labas ng palasyo.
"What's going on here!?".
"Your Majesty, inutusan kami ni Prince Cassius na may strigoi sa banda doon", sagot ng general nila.
"Then, where is the strigoi? Bakit wala kayong dala?", hinanap ng mga mata nito sa kanilang lahat ang bitbit na strigoi pero wala siyang nakita. "WHERE!?".
"We found nothing, Your Majesty. Prince Cassius fooled us", one of them answered.
"Call Prince Cassius", utos ni Ambrogio V sa malapit na chupacabra pero hindi na pala nito kailangang utusan dahil si Cassius na mismo ang lumapit.
"Royal Father", sabi ni Cassius.
"You fooled my death dealers? For what?", halata sa boses ni Ambrogio V ang galit.
Cassius remained silent. Lumapit naman si Niklaus sa mga naroon.
"Royal father, why don't we go back to our discussion? Leave this things here", sabi nito sa ama.
Ambrogio V sigh in disappointment at umiling sa kay Cassius. Nauna itong umalis.
Niklaus dismiss the death dealers kaya naiwan silang dalawa ni Cassius doon.
"I know what you've done. You let Royal Mother escape", sabi nito.
"Don't tell it to Royal Father", parang nagmamakaawang sabi ni Cassius.
"I won't if you'll come with me and hunt tomorrow. I know a place where our Royal Mother can stay", sabi nito at umalis na para puntahan ang kanilang ama.
Kaya pagdating ng umaga ay umalis ang dalawa.
