Hey guys. So before this chapter starts, I just wanna apologize for missing yesterday's update. My Uncle has recently passed away and his funeral was yesterday. Please be patient with me on updates but hopefully, I will get them out as I used to every week. Thank you for being so understanding. Much love xx.

"Could this place get any creepier?" Doc asked.

"Yes," Warren said while she kept walking. "Oh my God. It's alive," she said looking to the half-eaten thing laying on the table next to a computer.

"Is that Doctor Merch?" I asked finally finding my voice.

"No. Somebody else. It's the lab tech in the video." Murphy explained. "He wants us to watch something." he said. The lab tech played a video of human him and Dr merch. She gave him the vaccine. The first human trial.

"The vaccine must have worked. Kept him from turning zombie." Doc commented.

"But it won't let him die." Warren said.

"Did Merch do this to you?" Murphy asked. The lab tech just kept mumbling 'kill me' over and over again. "We're getting the hell out of here," Murphy said standing up.

"You've got company. Looks like Doctor Merch and two soldiers headed your way. They should be there any second." Citizen z popped up on the screen.

"Heads up." Warren said when we heard a crash from outside the doors.

"Doctor Merch. We meet again." Murphy said moving towards the bio-suit covered figure.

"Doctor Merch didn't make it. I'm her boss, Doctor Kurtz. I'm here to help you save mankind." The new bald-headed short man said. "We've gone to a great deal of effort to find you, Mr. Murphy." He said after pausing.

"I've been on a little road trip," Murphy said.

"Well, your journey ends here. You're safe now. And your friends are to be commended for their bravery and commitment. Your country, all mankind, owes you a great deal." Kurtz said. I don't get a good feeling at all. My hand twitched near my thigh unbuckling the holster silently. My fingers grazed my pistol before 10k grabbed my hand. I kept my eyes focused in front and let him silently intertwine our hands. I squeezed his hand twice. He slowly squeezed mine once.

"What's going to happen to him?" Warren asked.

"Well, we'll take him the rest of the way to the lab in California where we'll sequence his genes and clone the antibodies in his blood. Then with any luck, we'll be able to recreate the vaccine that's keeping him alive." Dr Kurtz said.

"What if I don't want to be your guinea pig?" Murphy said more than asked.

"Well, then you'll eventually wind up just like Brendon Doyle, Patient Zero over there. Speaking of which, someone should really give that poor creature mercy," he said.

"I'll do it," Murphy said. Warren handed him her blade. He walked over to the previous creature in front of us. He stabbed the lab tech in the brain. "I'm not going." He said turning around quickly.

"Murphy. This is why we came this far." Warren explained.

"Explain to me again why I should believe anything you say," Murphy said.

"Let's start with you have no choice." Dr Kurtz said.

"What are you saying?" I asked, my hand releasing 10k's and taking out my pistols. Aiming one at each of the soldiers.

"Just a precaution." He said.

"Now just hold on a minute. Ain't no reason to jump bad. He's just nervous. Right, Murphy? He's actually very civic-minded." Doc said trying to deescalate the situation. Everything felt really tense. I heard a muffled 'delta x-ray delta' I glanced over to the screen and Citizen Z held up a sign that said 'kill the doctor'. Don't have to tell me twice. I walked in front of Warren and 10k pulled out a dagger but kept his movements slow not to be attracted to him. Cassandra walked through the door. What the hell? Is that a bite mark on her cheek?

"Don't shoot." She said.

"She's a zombie." the evil dr said. "Mercy her."

"I'm not dead." She snarled.

"Kill him," Murphy ordered. She lunched for the closest one turning her back into him. The gun going off and Killing the other soldier. 10k tackled my body to the ground. I let out a grunt as I came in contact with the hard, cold, floor. The dr grabbed an automatic gun and fired at Murphy.

"Murphy, wait!" Warren yelled standing up. The dr turned and shot behind us. Doc's limp body fell to the ground. "Doc. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Look at me. Look at me." Warren urged. I screamed and stood up.

"You're dead bitch" I yelled as I left the room. I ran until I came back to the room with the decapitated zombies.

Fail-safe activated.

"Shit." I turned around and ran back the way I came to the others.

Fail-safe activated. Seven minutes to detonation.

"Come on, Doc. Come on, Doc." Warren said as I entered the room. She was doing CPR.

"Warren. We got to go. Bomb." I yelled as I ran to her. My body slid next to hers and 10k's. The people Cassandra killed woke up as zombies. I stood up with my pistols out. I was mad. I fired among them.

Six minutes to detonation.

Cassandra tackled them and yelled for us to leave. Doc gasped for air. 10k and I lifted him off the ground and carried him out. Warren led the way.

Five minutes to detonation.

We stumbled through the halls.

Four minutes to detonation.

Come on legs, come on. 10k lifted the gate to the elevator and Warren took his spot. We pushed through. The door shut and the stupid alarm went off again.

Three minutes to detonation.

Okay, I get it. We're going to die trying. Imma kill Murphy. Imma kill him.

"Look," 10k said kneeling down on the ground.

"What is it?" Warren asked.

"Is that all that's left of Murphy?" Doc asked.

"It's his skin. He shed his skin." Warren said.

"Keep it." Doc coughed. "Make some awesome boots out of that," he said.

"Where's Murphy?" Warren asked.

"Where's the van?" 10k asked, fear prominent in his voice.

"Murphy." Warren cursed. "Come on, let's take this," Warren said as we went to a black SUV. We laid Doc down on the back seat. Warren was in the drivers looking for the keys.

"Look," 10k said, drawing my attention to the sky. A missile was headed right for us.

"Let's go," Warren said as we all got in. Warren and 10k were upfront while I was applying pressure on Doc's wound.

"Cassandra?" 10k asked. Still? Warren drove as fast as she could to get us as far away as possible. The car lit up and I looked up from Doc to see the blinding light. The mushroom cloud that followed, sent out a wave of dust. We swerved to the right, my body being thrown left. The car tipped and we rolled. I remember Warren yelling something before everything went black.
