Aaliyah

After a really short western conference semi finals, the western conference finals was about to be here and it was against the Anaheim Ducks. With so much time between the semi finals and conference finals it gave me some time to focus on what I need to do. That made me happy because I wanted to travel but we had a big event going at MAC so I most certainly didn't have my shit together, nor was I going to any time soon.

But luckily my first major event at MAC was on a off day because Patrick would have killed me if he was to miss it. We were having a bunch of famous people come out and hang out with the kids. There was no school today around the area so it was the perfect time to bring the community together to celebrate Chicago.

So after pulling a few strings I got a few hall of fame level athletes to come in for a good cause. We had Devin Hester and and Scotty Pippen and Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita and one special guest Patrick has been dying to meet.

I have them all meet at our house and welcome them back to Chicago for those who didn't stay here in their off season. Patrick was a little upset that Bella stole the show, but she's so adorable.

Eventually the doorbell rings and I smile big.

"Who else is supposed to be here" he asks as he looks around at the full room.

"That's a surprise" I smile. I grab his hand and pull him to the door. I open it up and there stood the greatest athlete of all time.

Michael Jordan towers over us and had the biggest smile on his face. He pulls me into a hug and I happily hug him back.

"How's my little princess doing" he asks.

"I'm doing great! How are you? Surely staying away from the basketball courts" I tease.

"Never" he smiles.

"Holy shit... you're Michael Jordan. The greatest athlete of our time" Patrick whispers.

"I am. And you're Patrick Kane, someone I'm sure will go down as the greatest Blackhawk and the greatest American born hockey player of all time" Michael claims and Patrick stumbles backwards a little.

"You know my name" Patrick squeals making me laugh.

"Of course I do" Michael insists.

"How" Patrick says. I thought he was going to cry.

How the story goes is that my dad and Michael go way back. Before Michael was who he was and my dad was who he was they were just two guys in Chicago trying to make people happy. For a while Michael stayed at our place when he was just a baby goat. He's from North Carolina and my dad was just a law student in Chicago so he's all about helping people, especially when it came to basketball. Not a lot of people knew that but he stayed with us before he got all his money and his mind right. And he took me in while he was in Chicago, before he was air Jordan to me he was Uncle Mike and I loved him more as a man than as a player. Though I love that I got to be a part of the history he made when he was here in Chicago and that through it all he made time for my family. My dad and him golf all the time and they love to hang out when given a chance. His family and my family were pretty close and I'm always happy to see the big man.

"Let's just say that whenever Leah asks me for something I find it awfully hard to say no" Michael explains.

"I know the feeling" Patrick admits.

"Well I would love to come in and see this baby I've been hearing about" he insists.

"You and everyone else" I giggle.

So I take him in and he finds Scottie with Bella. They hang out for a while and Patrick finally figures out how to talk to him. But I get it, I've seen so many people freeze around him or my dad or any other guy in this room. Chicago is a small place when you look at it, it's just very tall and filled to the brim with interesting characters and passionate people. But at the end of the day they're just people.

I end up talking to MJ for a little before we wrapped this up. We go over what this event was for and how it helped people. He had the biggest smile on his face because he was happy to be in Chicgao again.

"I gave the Patrick the talk about being your boyfriend" he claims and I laugh.

"Like he doesn't have it hard enough" I tease. "You know what it's like to be a athlete here. He has it hard trying to live up to people like you and now you're gonna make it hard on him? You know how hard it is in the first place."

"I do know, and that's why I talked to him. I made mistakes and I learned them the hard way. I know how hard it is on a partner to be gone so much and all the other shit that comes with being with someone who is a important sports figure in this city. And I assured him if he even thought of the things that I did I would find him and shove all six of my rings down his throat" he claims.

"Wow, that's a bit harsh" I laugh.

"It is, but for you it makes perfect sense" he insists.

"Thanks for looking out for me" I say.

"I always have a eye out on you. I can't wait to get to MAC and look around and meet all the kids" he claims.

"Then let's go" I smile.

We all load up and head over to MAC. I show them around and we get ready to meet the masses. All money raised today goes to the facility and the people here and the rest is just for fun. They can play hockey with Patrick and Dennis Savard or basketball with Scottie and Michael. Then they can do some stuff outside like drills with Devin and Brian Urlacher. It was really the place to be without a playoff game today.

"I can't believe today. I met Michael Jorden and hung out with Devin Hester and they were all so nice. This is surreal" he claims.

"Then you know how kids feel when they meet you" I tease.

"I don't want that. I want to talk hockey or life, not just a hey see you later" he claims.

"And you have the power to do that" I remind him. "You can change the world Patrick, just like Michael did. All you gotta do is listen to your heart."

"My heart wants you" he claims and I smile.

"Mine wants you too" I assure him.
