I already sensed before we celebrate Chaz's welcoming party that there wasn't feel right. But I don't have any proof that something bad might or had happened that's why I ignore it in order not also to spoil the fun of every assassins in the headquarters.
That day, Euris was alone while arranging the plates on the table when I approached her to lend a help. Hindi naman niya ako pinigilan sa pagtulong kung kaya't magkaparehas kaming nag-aayos ng hapag-kainan.
When we're only waiting for the foods to come, biglang may itinanong si Euris.
"Nasa akademyang Splendid pa ba sila Martini?"
Before, I was the first one who ask her about my cousin when the latter's not around. Imposible kasing magkahiwalay silang dalawa kaya iyon ang madalas kong naiisip. But when what's between them become better, they usually take a look at each other no matter happens.
"Baka magkasama sila ni LX? Sila na lang ang wala pa dito sa headquarters."
Her forehead creased when she turn her head over her phone.
"Hindi pa siya sumasagot sa mensahe ko kanina."
"Impatient and worried?" I kidded.
Ibinalik niya ang tingin sa'kin habang suot ang walang emosyon na mukha.
"Never. He knows that if you can't scold him, he's gonna taste my knives for lessons."
Napangiti ako sa sinabi niya. Even though she's in denial of her feelings, she's indeed concern to my cousin.
Maya-maya'y dumating na rin si Sherry na mayroong bitbit na tray ng pagkain. Nakasunod sa kanya sila Chelsea at Chaz na mayroong pinag-uusapan. Kita ko sa mukha ni Chaz ang pagkamahiyain nito dahil hindi siya mahilig sa mga selebrasyon.
Noong sila Martini at LX na lang ang wala sa headquarters, sinubukan ko silang tawagan sa phone. Ngunit nakailan na akong tawag, wala sa kanila ang sumasagot nito. Ang inisip ko na lang noon, baka papunta na sila dito kung kaya't hinintay ko na lamang sila na makarating ng headquarters.
When they came, instead of feeling relief as they're finally here, I felt that there's something they had dealt seriously which made me worry. Although all of us can hide what we truly feel, there's still a chance that our emotions slipped from our masks since we're also humans.
Martini was smirking while he walk towards his way on Euris while LX maintain his emotionless face as he watch everyone busy on the celebration. Imbis na si Martini ang tanungin ko, lumapit ako kay LX upang kamustahin siya.
"What can you say on our preparation?"
Saglit na inilibot ni LX ang tingin sa buong lugar bago magsalita.
"I never had attended celebrations before and it's quite overwhelming."
Oh.
"Okay ka lang ba?"
LX was one of the members of our group whom you can't see any sign of weakness, maybe because he needs to for being our leader and currently a King. But right now, in front of me, he looks tensed.
Without saying a word, he nodded as an answer to my question last time. That didn't cease my worry as I can really see that there's something bothering him. Noong magsasalita pa sana ako, napigilan niya ito nang sumenyas siya.
The celebration will start anytime soon. Don't worry for anything.
Dahil gumamit na siya ng sign language, dito palang ay naramdaman ko ng tama ang kutob ko. Mayroong siyang problema at unti-unti nitong ginugulo ang kanyang isip.
