Chapter 18

Melody's PoV

"Edward," I whisper.

I walk over to the door, by the balcony. I unlock it and let him inside.

"Melody," he says, reaching out to touch my cheek.

I notice him, looking at my head.

"I'm so sorry," he mutters.

It goes silent.

"I'm a monster."

I shake my head, and walk forward, cupping Edward's face.

"You're not a monster, at least not to me," I explain, staring into his eyes.

"But I almost killed you. I wanted to," he replies, angry at himself.

"But you didn't," I respond.

"I could of, with ease," he mutters.

I sigh, looking down at the ground, "Edward it's not your fault that my blood sings to you."

It goes silent, again.

"We just have to work on it," I whisper, "together."

He gives me a small smile.

I then take off the scarf I had put on. I slowly place it around Edward's neck.

"What are you doing?" He asks me.

"Allowing you to take in my scent, so that you can build a tolerance to it, even if I'm not here," I explain.

"But-"

I place my finger to his lips, "look, we have to do this together, otherwise what happened earlier will happen again."

He nods.

"I love you," he whispers, pulling me close.

I lean into his neck, "I love you too."

He releases me, pulling me out into the living room.

Carlisle approaches me, "Melody, you're gonna need to change the bandaging everyday, for the next few weeks. Then the stitches should dissolve and everything should heal naturally."

I nod.

He hands me a bottle full of painkillers, "take these, they'll help with the pain."

Rose looks at me, guilty.

"It's not your fault Rose," I say, "everything happened so quickly."

She gives me a small smile, before walking out of the room.

Emmett goes to follow her but I hold my hand up, "leave her be. She just needs to be alone."

He nods.

Alice and Jasper enter the room.
