What just happened?

What would her mother think?

How could he do something like that?

In amongst the thoughts that crashed around her head, she couldn't help but smile. Whatever it was, there was something in him that had snapped.

She was sure he felt it too.

As they had become friends, there had always been tension between them. It taunted them and made every situation that would typically be platonic between acquaintances instead be full of awkwardness.

This friendship game they were playing did nothing but delay the impending surrender of their self-control.

What would happen now?

Would waiting for him really be the best option?

She sighed. Even when she wanted to leave, it was like she couldn't help but follow him everywhere. She felt like a koala firmly attached to a tree, immovable.

Looking down at herself in her now sodden dress and bruised body, she knew she couldn't go home looking the way she did. Her parents would disown her.

By now, the sun was setting, passing the stray clouds in the sky. As Sanem walked through the garden back to the party, the sodium lights lit the way, attracting the attention of the nearby moths.

She knew she couldn't go through that hall again. The faces and people would have an even worse view of her than they already did.

Instead, she continued walking, despite her internal monologue that hinted at the danger in it. At the back of the porch, the loud chatter of old business friends, drinks and footsteps broke through the cracks of the walls. Sanem walked around to the back of the building where eventually, the voices passed her like an unwanted racket of a speeding car. Moments later, she emerged at the entrance of the venue where Leyla and she had arrived.

At first, Sanem couldn't see his car... she couldn't really see anything.

The sky had grown a darker shade of blue and the cold was piercing through to her skin. She began to shiver slightly, as the night's darkness surrounded her.

A figure edged up behind her, approaching unseen.

He knew she would hate it but she continued anyhow.

He kept the amusement firmly within him, stopping himself from grinning and stood right behind her like a towering statue.

He wanted to reach out and touch her.

Wrapping his large arms around her tiny frame, almost engulfing her within his chest from behind, he felt her squeal. His lips met her neck again, angling her jaw with his right hand. This time the gesture had more passion as if to make up for the moments they were separated.

It turned into a spiral of pleasure. He loved that he had this effect on her.

"I thought you would run away." He teased, turning her to face him.

Time stopped briefly as she looked directly at him.

It made him smile uncontrollably. She was so short in his grasp. He took this time to watch her face, her tiny head, swollen lips and brown eyes. Sections of hair fell delicately at her shoulders and her brow was set into a confused little line.

She still hadn't averted her eyes and he was going to lose it.

Can was just about to take her there, touch her and feel her after all this time, when his car pulled up at their side. Chuckling gruffly, he remembered that he had called the garage from the concierge desk.
