"Welcome home sir Angelo."

Angelo handed his coat over to the round lady in her early forties that walked up to him the moment he walked in. She had a maid uniform on even though hers was different from the rest, of course it had to be, she was the head maid.

"Thank you lauretta."

He smiled handing his coat to her. He looked around the quiet house. Everywhere felt so calm and quiet.

"Mrs Anna is in the dining room"

The maid said with a little smile on her face. It was almost as if she knew exactly who Angelo was looking for.

"Oh." Angelo smiled back.

"Thank you lauretta." She smiled and  walked away. Angelo checked his wristwatch, it was past ten o'clock. He couldn't help but wonder why Anna wasn't asleep yet. He exhaled and then walked towards the dinning room, taking his time.

He peeped in.

Lauretta was right after all. He saw Anna sitting on the dining table in her night dress. She looked so nervous and wouldn't stop looking at the wall clock. It was almost as if she was waiting for him.

Scratch that, she was waiting for him. Her mind was all over the place so much so that she had not realized that the door bell rang seconds ago. She looked so beautiful with her hair down and her cheeks flustered with worry. She couldn't help but play with the hair ribbon In her hands.

Where was he?

She exhaled looking at the door. She froze when she saw Angelo. Her heart melted when she saw the warm smile on his face. She exhaled in relief.

"Hey." Angelo said walking inside. He didn't like it when she worried but if he got to see her looking so beautiful each time he stayed out late, he was going to consider staying late all the time.

"How is she?" Anna asked. She couldn't help but be worried about Sophie. All she could remember was how much hurt Sophie had felt when she left the mansion earlier. She could remember how she had to let Angelo spend the rest of the day at their hotel just to check on her and know how she was doing. Her only regret was that she did not go with him, she couldn't.

"I'd be home soon."

She remembered him telling her before he asked Juliana's driver to take her home while he took off with their car. Sophie had been one of the few humans that had ever been so nice to her and seeing how Juliana had treated her, her own daughter, made Anna's heart so heavy. The smile on Angelo's face faded as he walked slowly towards her, saving her the stress of getting away from the table to meet him. He had had a long day and she was all he needed. He slowly took the ribbon from her and leaned closer towards her.

"She's still shaken by what happened." Angelo explained as he took a handful of her hair and held it up so he could tie it into a ponytail.

"She just needs rest. she'd be fine"

Anna sighed in relief. She really hoped so.

"I'm really proud of you Angelo." She told him. "The way you stood up to your mum for Sophie, it was beautiful."

Angelo exhaled.

"Well you heard what mum said. I'm the only one that understands what it's like, the only one that can relate to it too."

"She didn't mean that Angelo." Angelo scoffed.

"Trust me she did."

Anna starred at him. She noticed a glimpse of sadness in his eyes. For the first time it was like she could read his mind, she could tell how heavy it was. It was almost as if he had so much to say but he didn't know how to start.
