METAR reports are aviation routine weather reports that is an observation of surface weather. These reports are done hourly.
~ Station Identifier - four letter ICAO identifier ('K' precedes the three letter domestic location identifier)
~ Time of Report - day of the month and time of observation given in Zulu time
~ Modifier - indicates report generated at an automatic or manual station
AO1; automated weather reporting station without a precipitation discriminator
AO2; automated weather reporting station with a precipitation discriminator
COR; observation taken at a manual station
~ Wind Information - direction and speed reported in a five digit group. First three digits are the direction in reference to true north. Next digits show the speed in knots
Gusty winds reported with 'G' followed by the degree in reference to true at said knots with gusts of said knots. Extremes of a wind direction are separated with a 'V' (varying 60 degrees or more).
~ Visibility - [Prevailing] greatest distance that can be seen where objects can be identified through at least half the horizon. Reported in statute miles.
RVR [Runway Visual Range] can be reported following prevailing visibility and is what a pilot in a moving aircraft should see when looking down at the runway. This includes the R followed by runway number, and visual range given in feet.
