"Do you ever just want to take over the world?"

I looked over at Marco as he put his phone down.

"Do you even know me?"

He snorted. "I do, actually. That's why I asked."

I shook my head. "Yeah, the problem is I'm really lazy."

Marco rolled his eyes. "I know that too, Tantien."

We went back to our phones for a few minutes before I looked up again. "Why did you really ask?"

He scrolled for a few moments before showing me his phone screen.

"Butterfly Processor: Choose Confidently, Prosper Easily." I read. "What does that mean?"

"Well, what I've gotten from the caption is that it's a software download that shows you the butterfly effect tracks for your decisions." Marco shrugged. "Like, you move a pen two inches to the left and through a series of changes it makes, you end up owning huge mansion property or something like that?"

"Huh. Cool. Probably doesn't work though.... Send me that?"

"Yeah, no problem."

After dinner, I turned on Netflix and grabbed a blanket, intent on not moving until I fell asleep. I kicked Marco's jacket that he'd left on the couch onto the floor and sprawled out with the blanket over most of my body.

Do you ever want to just take over the world?

Sure, he'd meant it as a joke.

But like.

Yeah. That would be nice.

I pulled up the link he sent me and hit the large 'download' button in the center of the screen.

~~~~
"Download complete."
I opened my eyes groggily. I must have fallen asleep while my phone downloaded the Butterfly Processor.
The screen glowed with a bright pink decal for a few moments before a white button appeared, reading 'hold and speak' in big blue letters.
I pressed down on the screen. "I choose to watch a nature documentary about polar bears."
A loading logo appeared for a few moments before disappearing. A voice began to speak.
"You choose to watch a nature documentary about polar bears. You choosing to watch this documentary makes it move up the line of most watched on Netflix. Because you watched it, it now shows up as the most watched media on Netflix, and through that, the most watched media in America.
"The government takes notice. If this is the most watched media in America, they need to do something about its contents.
"The government begins to work more on saving polar bears and creatures at the pole where ice is melting. They invest money in environmentally safe ways to do things, and research into better technology to fix the air pollution causing the greenhouse effect that is hurting the polar bears.
"Because the government spends so much money on these solutions, they go completely bankrupt. No other countries are willing to lend them money, so the US slowly crumbles as a nation. China takes over, taking land and resources as the debt that America owes them. But their leader passes away of a sickness that America's solutions brought to the world. They decide to deal with this later.
"The Chinese government begins to look into the same things that America did with the poles and the animals that are in danger. With more money and more working power, their solutions take root and become effective, but the Chinese government also becomes bankrupt because of this.
"However, the Chinese government had a plan to fall back on. They put this in place.
"This plan reduces the wages of the Americans that are all working for China now. The money collected from that goes into a new Chinese bank account as the government's money.
"There is one problem. The government accidentally puts this money into the wrong account. At first they do not realize whose account they put the money in, but after some research they figure out that they actually put the money in the account of the person who brought this issue to the American government's attention.
"You now have all this money. To get it back, the Chinese government makes you their leader, since theirs passed on. Their government continues to function as it always did, but now you are at the head. With the combined resources of America and their own country, they easily overpower the rest of the world.
"With you as the leader."
The screen went black and I looked at it for a second.
"Cool."
Picking up the remote for my tv, I pressed play on a nature documentary.
About rainforests, guys. Even I'm too lazy to deal with all that.
[A/N THIS. IS. A. JOKE.
Just wanted to make that totally clear]
