My eyes flutter open when I feel a rough churn in my stomach

My eyes flutter open when I feel a rough churn in my stomach. I sit up immediately, and clutch my stomach in pain. I look around me and see that it's still dark, and early in the morning.

"Mum!" I groan. My eyes fall shut when I feel the same agonizing pain in my abdomen.

I open my eyes to grab my phone on my side table. I distressfully look for Asher's number.

"Hello?" I hear him mutter, probably just waking up.

"I'm sorry for waking you up, but- ow, can you please come over? My stomach is hurting really bad," I groan out, rubbing my stomach softly.

"Yeah. Okay, I'm on my way," he says, and I can hear him grabbing his keys. The call ends, and I quietly cry to myself.

If you think I'm being over-dramatic, I'd like to see you have my cramps. You would be complaining as much as me.

A couple minutes later, my phone signals a text message.

'I'm here.'

It read. Asher has a spare key, because he's always here, so I'm guessing he's making his way up to my room now.

"I hate you stupid cramps," I croak out, as I hug my legs to my stomach.

"Are you okay?" I hear, then feel a large warm hand rub my back comfortingly.

I hum in response, but relax when I feel my stomach ache calm down.

The aches appear again, when I feel Asher's presence dissappear. I continue to rub my stomach, until Asher walks back into the room and grabs my arm softly.

"C'mon. Get up, I ran a warm shower for you," he softly says, dragging me to my bedroom. I take a quick glance to my bed and see a huge red circle on my sheets.

"It's okay. I'll put a new one on," he assures me, softly nudging me forward.

I thank him as I strip my clothes off and take a much-needed shower.

"Are you feeling a little better?" Asher asks me, as I walk out of the bathroom door. My heart swells when I see a plastic bag full of snacks- I'm guessing he went to 7/11, comfortable clothes with a packet of pads on top.

"Yes. Thank you," I internally 'Aww'. Hems the best, best friend in the entire world.

He quietly walks into my closet and shuts the door behind him. I get dressed into the grey sweats, and Asher's oversized jumper.

"You can come out now," I quietly call out.

He jumps out with a horrified look.

"What?" I chuckle at his expression.

"I thought I heard a crinkling sound," he shivers, looking around my room paranoid.

"A crinkling sound?" I snort, getting into my dishevelled bed, but being mindful of the snacks.

"Yeah. It was like it was being ripped off of something- It was faint, but it still was a little creepy. I was standing in the dark!" he explains.

I think for a while, and as soon as I figure it out, I control my laughter by patting the spot next to me. He excitedly takes his shoes off and hops into bed.

"Don't give me that look. I'm tired and cold," he huffs, cuddling into the blankets even more.

I roll my eyes playfully, but go on my phone because I'm no longer tired.

Snapchat is soon on my phone screen and I'm later watching Keira's snap-story.

"Can you put that down?!" Asher groans.

"Oh, sorry," I mutter, putting the volume low.

I suddenly am craving for Kit-Kat chocolate. I lightly tap Asher's shoulder, "Asher," I whisper.

He sighs, "Yes?"

"Can we go get kit-kat? I have like $5 in my wallet," I ask.

"It's with the snacks," he deadpans.

"What snacks?" I ask confused.

He turns around with wide eyes, "Right at your feet, Katarina," he says exasperated.

I slap myself across the face and grab the Kit-Kat chocolate sheepishly.

"Idiot," he mutters to himself, turning around and getting comfortable.

"You're amazing," I say, finishing 5 bars already.

I fall asleep an hour later, but wake up with another stomach ache.

"Are you alright?" Asher asks alerted, rubbing my back soothingly.

"My cramps are feeling worse," I whine, feeling tears prickle at the corner of my eyes.

He's up on his feet in seconds, and out the door.

He comes back with a wet towel. He signals me to lift my shirt up to expose my stomach. When I do so he lays the warm towel flat on my stomach, making me sigh in satisfaction.

"Some Panadol," he says, passing me a small plastic tray of Panadol, "There's a water bottle in there," he says, referring to the snack bag.

I wash the pill down with the water, but my face scrunches up in an uncomfortable expression due to the water being warm.

"Well, it was in the plastic bag for like 2 hours," he grins.

Throughout the whole entire time, Asher made sure I was comfortable and warm.

"Goodnight, Rena," I hear him whisper.

"Goodnight," I whisper back.

"I love you," he whispers again.

"I love you, too."

I really hope he doesn't sense the double-meaning behind my words.
