A week later, Marie was laying in her bed one night and then she started to toss and turn in her sleep as the dream she was having was starting to make her uneasy. In Marie's dream, she was face to face with Chief King her grandfather and Marie looked down at his hand and saw that he was holding a gun. Getting scared, Marie looked at King and asked, "Grandpa, why are you holding a gun?!"

Chief King started to cry tears of joy and he smiled at Marie and said, "Marie, it was a pleasure working with you. And I'll tell your parents and grandmother that you said hi."

Marie shook her head side to side and exclaimed, "What do you mean?! Grandpa, what are you talking about?! Please tell me!" And it was then that King lifted the gun to the side of his head and he pulled the trigger.

Marie then watched as Chief King slumped to the ground and he didn't move anymore. Marie then woke up with a start and she was breathing heavily while cold sweat was running down her and she clutched her blankets tightly. Just then, Paul ran into her room and he looked at her and asked, "Are you okay Marie?! Did you have another nightmare about your parents?"

Marie shook her head and said, "No, it was different this time. My grandfather was in it and he told me that he enjoyed working with me and I asked him why he was saying that. But before I got an explanation, he lifted a gun to his head and he killed himself!"

It was then that Marie started to tremble and Paul went over to her and hugged her tightly and she cried into his chest. The next day at the station, Marie sat at her desk and let out a huge yawn. Jones overheard the yawn, looked at Marie and asked, "What's Marie? Work starting to bore you already?"

"Sorry about that Jones. I'm just really tired this morning. I had the worst dream last night," Marie said while rubbing her eyes.

Jones then told her, "Did you have pizza before going to bed? Cause if I have pizza with olives after nine, I dream the xenomorphs are after me!"

Marie rolled her eyes and thought, okay that's a typical thing; for Jones anyway. Before long, Jones and Marie were called into Chief King's office and Marie decided to go there ignoring what happened in her dream. As soon as they entered King's office, he smiled at Marie and said to her, "Marie, you've been doing amazing work in Maple Heights so far! Members of the public keep phoning into the station to thank you for making the streets safer!"

Marie gave a bashful smile after hearing the chief tell her the people's compliments and she said shyly, "It's nothing really. Just doing my job."

Jones then slung an arm around Marie's shoulders and he said with a smile, "Well I'm hardly surprised sir! After all, Marie and I make a pretty good team!"

However, after Jones said that the chief's smile fell and he said to Jones, "Actually Jones, the thing is that your name keeps popping up in the complaints. It turns out the people of Maple Heights are not impressed with your tactless manners."

After he heard that, Jones' face faltered and he asked in shock, "What?! But sir..."

"No buts boy! You'll be on filing duty with Daniel for the time being! And while you're doing that, maybe it'll help you gain some focus," Chief King scolded at the male officer.

Jones then lowered his head sadly and walked out of the office while Marie was watching. She then frowned and thought, who's gonna be my partner now if a case comes up? King then looked at Marie and started to explain something to her, when his phone started to ring. When he answered it, Grace on the other end exclaimed, "Chief, it's Grace! Is Marie with you? Cause I'm at the beauty parlor right now and I desperately need her help!"

Hearing that it was Grace, Chief King's eyes went wide and he asked, "I thought it was your day off today Grace! What's happening?!"

Marie leaned in to listen to the conversation and Grace explained, "We just heard a bloodcurdling scream coming from one of the treatment rooms and a lot of people are panicking! Please sir, have Marie get down here quickly!"
