Chapter 7: Death by Crucifixion-Part 1

A couple months later, Marie was being held naked in Marconi's arms, who was also naked. They were on the bed wrapped up in the bedsheets as Marconi was kissing her lips and all over her body, while Marie was breathing heavily. As he began sucking on her neck, Marie breathed out, "I have to go. I got the evening shift." And Marconi just ignored her and held her tighter smelling his scent on her like a dog.

As Marconi lowered her down, he started kissing her when she looked into his eyes pleading him to let her go. Suddenly without knowing it, Marconi entered her and he began moving and Marie grunted in pain and started to scream when he moved. Soon, he spilled inside her and took himself out and watched her leak of his fluids. The gangster smirked down at the female officer and he said, "I couldn't let you leave without my little gift." And she slowly got up and wobbled to the bathroom to shower the feeling of sex and sweat off.

After she showered and got dressed, Marie was busy putting on her shoes while Marconi was standing behind her watching. As slung her bag over her shoulder and started to head out the door, Marconi said to her, "Don't forget to meet me at that place once you're shift is done." And Marie grumbled a yeah yeah and was soon out the door.

Before she got there, Marie stopped at a burger joint that Jones introduced her to the first time she came to the city and ordered a couple burgers and drinks for her and Jones. Once she got to the station, she was greeted by Jones and they walked in together talking. After they got to their desks and started to do a little paperwork and eat the burgers Marie bought, when their names were called on the intercom and telling them the chief needed them. Afterwards they headed straight for his office.

Once they were in front of Chief King, he looked at the both them and said, "Evening you two, I'll get straight to business. Does the name Gordon Michelli ring any bells?"

Jones made a curious face and said, "He's the director of Red Company construction right? I really hate those guys cause they're only interested in profit!"

King's face went serious and he told Jones to spare him his considerations and explained that Michelli was found dead at the construction site on Gooseberry Lane. After the chief told them to go and figure it out and they left the office to head to the crime scene, Marie began to ponder in her mind if she ever went to Gooseberry Lane. As they were driving and getting closer to their location, Marie began seeing things she's seen before and she remembered she did come to this street before.

She began to smile a little and remembered the first time she came here was a couple months ago after the Ed Dunkin case and Ginger told her about the church on this street. If Marie was lucky, the next stop they'll pass is the church, but instead Jones stopped the car in front of their destination. As Marie got out of the car and looked around, she said quietly, "This can't be right?"

Jones heard her say that and asked her, "What's wrong partner? Didn't use the restroom before we left?"

Marie looked at him with a sarcastic look on her face, but then straightened it and said, "No, I'm pretty sure there was a church here."

Jones went to her side and explained to her there was a church here, but to expand the housing Red Company bought it and tore it down. Marie suddenly got tears in her eyes and she began wondering what happened to the old priest she talked to a couple months prior. Jones handed her his handkerchief and told her to dry her tears cause they have a case to solve; which she did and she pocketed the kerchief in her pants pocket.

When they got close to the victim, Jones and Marie's eyes went wide with shock. Jones then said, "Well this is something you don't see everyday. I hope crucifixion isn't coming back. But jokes aside, this my first time looking for a murderer that's religious. So it's all contradictions to me." And after he said that Marie now knew that their killer is a Christian.
